Driving
Combustion engine startup
Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid drive
A haptic pressure point indicates when the com-
bustion engine will be started. The pressure point
is variable and depends on the high-voltage bat-
tery charge level.

© Maximum acceleration
Maximum acceleration
If you press the accelerator pedal all the way
down, the motor’s full power will be used and
you will reach maximum acceleration, also called
“kick-down”.
Applies to: vehicles with boost function: The elec-
tric motor can switch on for a brief period if the
accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down in
the “D” and “S” driving program. The availability
of this function depends on the charge level of
the high-voltage battery and the temperature of
the drive system components, among other
things.
Z\ WARNING
The driving wheels could spin and the vehicle
could swerve on slick or slippery road surfaces
when using kick-down, which increases the
risk of an accident.

mat on the driver's side. Read and follow the im-

Releasing the parking lock using the
emergency release
> Secure the vehicle against rolling > page 108.
> Pry the cover off at one of the openings using
the screwdriver from the vehicle tool kit
=> page 317.
> Insert the socket wrench from the vehicle tool
kit into the opening.
> Turn the socket wrench clockwise () until it
stops and press it downward @) until it locks in-
to place.
> Leave the socket wrench inserted.
Resetting the parking lock
> Grasp the socket wrench with both hands and
carefully pull it upward to remove.
> Install the cover.
Z\ WARNING
— The parking lock must be released using the
emergency release before towing the vehi-
cle.
— Only use the parking lock emergency release
if the vehicle is secured against rolling
= page 108. An unsecured vehicle may roll,
which increases the risk of an accident.
— Only activate the emergency release while
on a level surface or a slight slope.
—To reduce the risk of an accident, you must
not drive when the emergency release is ac-
tivated.
i Transmission: malfunction! Safely stop vehi-
cle
Do not continue driving. Stop the vehicle as soon
as possible in a safe location and secure it so it
does not roll > page 108. See an authorized Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility for as-
sistance.
Bi Transmission: too hot. Please stop vehicle >

Making phone calls using the exterior
antenna
Applies to: vehicles with Audi phone box
With the Audi phone box, you can make calls us-
ing the exterior antenna on the vehicle. Using the
external antenna helps when there is a low signal
and also provides better reception quality.
Requirement: the ignition must be switched on.
Applies to: vehicles with front Audi phone box
» Fold open the holder for the Audi phone box (4)

> To make phone calls through the vehicle's exte-
rior antenna using your mobile device, lay your
device with the rear side against the phone
symbol (2) in the center of the Audi phone box
and holder (@).

Charging the battery using the USB input

You can charge your mobile device using a special
USB adapter with the Audi phone box

Access to the calendar
Requirement: the myAudi app must be installed
and open on your mobile device. Access to your
calendar must be enabled on your mobile device.
You must be logged into the myAudi app with
your myAudi login data and you must have select-
ed your vehicle. The Wi-Fi function on your mo-
bile device and the MMI must be enabled and
your mobile device must be paired to the MMI
Wi-Fi hotspot > page 225, Wi-Fi.
You can display the your mobile device calendar
on the MMI.

control services
Services
Applies to: vehicles with Audi connect vehicle control
Using Audi connect vehicle control services, you
can perform tasks such as viewing data about
your vehicle or control vehicle functions remote-
ly.
You can view and use services available for your
vehicle at my.audi.com or through the myAudi
app.
Information about the services and the corre-
sponding app was accurate at the time this man-
ual was printed. The scope of services depends
on the country and equipment. There may be
changes over the service life of the vehicle.

— Always follow the information found in > AA

— Driver messages, text messages, and illumi-
nated warning and indicator lights in the ve-
hicle always take priority over information
from the Audi connect services. The infor-
mation displayed by the Audi connect serv-
ices should not cause you to take safety
risks. This can result in the vehicle breaking
down in traffic and to serious injuries or ac-
cidents.
— Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid
drive: Only perform the Audi connect cli-
mate control functions if your vehicle was
shut off correctly and the ignition is switch-
ed off.
— Applies to: vehicles with plug-in hybrid
drive: Only perform charging functions on
the high-voltage battery if the vehicle is
shut off correctly, is connected to a suitable
socket ,and if the ignition is switched off.

— Accessing specific data or controlling func-

Engine oil
If the engine oil level is too low
If you need to add engine oil, use an oil that is
listed on the sticker. The sticker is located at the
front
of the engine compartment > page 277,
fig. 181. When using the engine oil listed on the
sticker, you can adjust the oil level as often as
needed.
If engine oil that meets the recommended speci-
fication is not available, in an emergency you
may add a maximum of 1 quart (1 liter) of
ACEA C3 or API SN engine oil one time until the
next oil change.
