SYSTEME ASR (Antislip Regulation)
Est partie intégrante du système ESP et contrôle la
traction de la voiture qui intervient automatiquement
en cas de patinage d’une des roues motrices.
En fonction des conditions de patinage, sont activés
deux systèmes différents de contrôle:
❒si le patinage concerne les deux roues motrices,
l’ASR intervient en réduisant la puissance transmise
par le moteur;
❒si le patinage concerne une seule des roues
motrices, l’ASR intervient en freinant
automatiquement la roue qui patine. L’action du système ASR s’avère particulièrement utile
dans les conditions suivantes:
❒ patinage lors d’un virage de la roue intérieure, par
effet des variations dynamiques de la charge ou de
l’accélération excessive;
❒ excessive puissance transmise aux roues, par
rapport aussi aux conditions de la chaussé;
❒ accélération sur des chaussées glissantes, enneigées
ou verglacées.
❒perte d’adhérence sur la chaussée mouillée
(aquaplaning).
TEMOINS ET SIGNALISATION
AVARIE AU SYSTEME ESP
(lorsqu’il est prévu)- SYSTEME NON DISPO-
NIBLE
En tournant la clé en position MAR, le témoin sur le
tableau de bord s’allume, mais il doit s’éteindre
après quelques secondes.
Si le témoin ne s’éteint pas, ou s’allume pendant la
marche (sur certaines versions en même temps que
le message visualisé par l’affichage) em même temps
que le led sur le bouton ASR OFF s’allume, s’adres-
ser au Réseau Après-vente Fiat.
Le clignotement du témoin pendant la marche
indique l’intervention du système ESP.

Avarie Hill Holder - Systéme non disponible

Le avarie Hill Holder/systéme non disponible elle
est signalée par l’allumage du témoin *sur le
tableau de bord (sur certaines versions en même
temps que le message visualisé par l’affichage). Dans
ce cas, s’adresser le plus tôt possible au Réseau
Après-vente Fiat.

ENCLENCHEMENT/DESENCLENCHEMENT DU SYSTEME
L’ASR s’enclenche automatiquement à chaque démarrage du moteur.
Pendant la marche, il est possible d’activer et ensuite de réactiver l’ASR
en appuyant sur l’interrupteur ASR situé sur la planche centrale des
commandes.
L’enclenchement du système est signalé par la visualisation d’un message
sur l’affichage multifonction reconfigurable (lorsqu’il est prévu).
Le désenclenchement du système est mis en évidence par l’allumage des
témoins sur le bouton ASR et par la visualisation d’un message sur
l’affichage multifonction reconfigurable (lorsqu’il est prévu). En
désenclenchant l'ASR pendant la marche, il s’activera automatiquement au
démarrage suivant.
Sur des chaussées enneigées, avec les chaînes à neige montées, il peut
être utile de désenclencher l’ASR: dans ces conditions, en effet, le
glissement des roues motrices en phase de démarrage permet d’obtenir
une plus forte traction.
ATTENTIONLes performances du système ne doivent pas pousser le conducteur à prendre des
risques inutiles et non justifiés. La conduite doit toujours être adaptée aux
conditions de la chaussée, à la visibilité et à la circulation. La responsabilité pour
la sécurité routière revient toujours et, en tout cas, au conducteur de la voiture.

ESP SYSTEM

The ESP system is an electronic system controlling the
car stability in the event of tyre grip loss.
The ESP system is therefore particularly useful when
grip conditions of the road surfaces change.
ESP SYSTEM INTERVENTION
It is indicated by the blinking of the warning light áon
the instrument panel, to inform the driver that the car
is in critical stability and grip conditions.The performance of the system, in terms of active
safety should not induce the driver to take pointless
and unnecessary risks. The style of driving must in any
case always be adapted to the conditions of the road
surface, visibility and traffic. Road safety is always the
driver’s responsibility.
ESP SYSTEM OPERATION
The ESP system is automatically inserted when the car
is started and cannot be deactivated.
FAILURE WARNINGS
In the event of failure, the ESP system is automatically
disconnected and the warning light áwill come on
with fixed light on the instrument panel together with
the message on the reconfigurable multifunction
display. In this case contact a Fiat Dealership as soon
as possible.
The performance of the system, in terms of active safety should not induce the
driver to take pointless and unnecessary risks. The style of driving must in any case
always be adapted to the conditions of the road surface, visibility and traffic. Road
safety is always the driver’s responsibility.WARNING

HILL HOLDER SYSTEM
(where provided)
It is an integral part of the ESP system and facilitates
starting on an uphill slope.
It is automatically activated in the following conditions:
Uphill: vehicle stationary on a road with gradient
above 2%, engine running, clutch and brake pedals
pressed and gearbox in neutral position or gear
engaged (reverse excluded).
Downhill: stationary on a road with gradient above 2%,
engine running, clutch and brake pedals pressed and
reverse engaged.
During pickup the ESP system control unit maintains
the wheel braking pressure until the engine torque
required for start up is reached, or anyway for a
maximum of 2 seconds, so that the right foot can be
moved easily from the brake pedal to the accelerator
pedal.After 2 seconds and without starting the car, the
system automatically deactivates gradually releasing the
braking pressure. During this phase it is possible to
hear the typical brake mechanical disengaging noise
which indicates the car is about to move off.
FAILURE WARNINGS
In the event of failure, the instrument cluster warning
light *will come on together with the message on
the reconfigurable multifunction display.
IMPORTANT The Hill Holder system is not a parking
brake therefore, never leave the car without engaging
the parking brake, the first gear and turning the engine
off.
WARNINGFor correct operation of the ESP system, the tyres must absolutely be of the same
brand and type on all wheels, in perfect conditions and, above all, of the type,
brand and size specified.
WARNINGDuring the use of the spare wheel, the ESP system carries on working. However,
you must remind that the spare wheel presents dimensions smaller than the
standard tyre and therefore the grip is reduced as to the other car tyres.

WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES
ESP SYSTEM FAILURE (where provided) -
SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE
Turning the ignition key to MAR, the warning light
on the dial comes on but shall go off after few
seconds.
If the warning light does not go off or stays on when
travelling (on certain versions together with the
message on the display) and with led on ASR button,
contact Fiat Dealership.
Warning light flashing when driving indicates that the
ESP system is active.

ASR SYSTEM (Antislip Regulation)
It’s a function of ESP system and controls the vehicle
drive and cuts in automatically every time one or both
driving wheels slip.
In slipping conditions, two different control systems
are activated:
❒if the slipping involves both the driving wheels, the
ASR function intervenes reducing the power
transmitted by the engine;
❒if the slipping involves only one driving wheel, the
ASR system cuts in automatically braking the wheel
that is slipping. The action of the ASR is particularly helpful in the
following circumstances:
❒ slipping of the inner wheel due to the effect of
dynamic load changes or excessive acceleration;
❒ too much power transmitted to the wheels also in
relation to the conditions of the road surface;
❒ acceleration on slippery, snowy or frozen surfaces;
❒in the case of loss of grip on a wet surface
(aquaplaning).

Hill Holder failure - System not available

SWITCHING ON/OFF OF THE ASR SYSTEM
The ASR function switches on automatically each time the engine is
started.
When travelling, the ASR system can be switched off and on again by
pressing the ASR switch on the central control panel.
Switching on is indicated by the relevant message on the reconfigurable
multifunction display (where provided).
When the device is switched off this is shown by the lighting up of the led
on the ASR button and by the message on the reconfigurable
multifunction display .
If the ASR function is switched off when travelling, it will turn on again
automatically the next time the engine is started
When travelling on snow with snow chains, it may be helpful to turn the
ASR device off: in fact, in these conditions, slipping of the driving wheels
when moving off makes it possible to obtain better drive.

ESP ist ein Überwachungssystem der Stabilität des
Fahrzeugs und unterstützt die Richtungskontrolle bei
Haftungsverlust der Reifen.
Der Einschritt des ESP-Systems ist daher ganz
besonders nützlich bei Veränderung der
Haftungsbedingungen des Untergrunds.
EINSCHRITT DES SYSTEMS
Der Eingriff des Systems wird durch das Blinken der
Kontrollleuchte auf der Instrumententafel angezeigt,
um den Fahrer zu informieren, dass sich das Fahrzeug
in einer kritischen Stabilitäts- und Haftungssituation
befindet.EINSCHALTUNG DES SYSTEMS
ESP schaltet sich automatisch bei Anlassen des
Fahrzeugs ein und kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden.
FEHLERMELDUNG
Bei eventuellen Betriebsanomalien schaltet sich das
ESP-System automatisch aus, auf der Instrumententafel
leuchtet die Lampe ákontinuierlich, und es erscheint
eine Meldung auf dem rekonfigurierbaren
Multifunktionsdispla. In diesem Fall wenden Sie sich
bitte schnellstmöglichst an das Fiat Kundendienstnetz.
Die Leistungen des ESP-Systems sollten den Fahrer jedoch nicht veranlassen,
unnütze und ungerechtfertigte Risiken einzugehen. Die Fahrweise ist stets dem
Zustand der Straße, der Sicht und dem Verkehr anzupassen. Die Verantwortung für
die Straßensicherheit liegt stets beim Fahrer des Fahrzeugs.ACHTUNG
