REFUELLING
Petrol engines: only refuel with unleaded petrol with octane rating (RON) not less than 95 in compliance with the European specification
EN228. Using these mixtures may cause misfiring and driving issues, as well as damage fundamental components of the supply system.
Diesel engines: refuel only with diesel fuel motor vehicles conforming to the European specification EN590. The use of other products
or mixtures may damage the engine beyond repair and consequently invalidate the warranty, due to the damage caused.
For further details on the use of the correct fuel see the "Refuelling the vehicle" paragraph in the "Starting and driving" chapter.
STARTING THE ENGINE
Make sure that the handbrake is engaged and place the gear lever in neutral. Fully depress the clutch pedal, without pressing the accelerator,
then turn the ignition key to MAR and wait for thewarning light to switch off (andwarning light for diesel versions); turn the
ignition key to AVV and release it as soon as the engine starts.
Versions with Dualogic gearbox: make sure that the handbrake is engaged and that the gear lever is in P (Parking) or N (Neutral), fully
depress the brake pedal, then turn the ignition key to AVV and release it as soon as the engine is started. .
PARKING ON FLAMMABLE MATERIAL
The catalytic converter develops high temperatures during operation. Do not park the vehicle on grass, dry leaves, pine needles or other
flammable material: fire hazard.
RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT
The vehicle is fitted with a system that carries out a continuous diagnosis of the emission-related components in order to help protect the
environment.
ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES
If, after buying the vehicle, you decide to add electrical accessories (with the risk of gradually draining the battery), contact a Fiat Dealership.
They can calculate the overall electrical requirement and check that the vehicle's electric system can support the required load.
SCHEDULED SERVICING
Correct maintenance of the vehicle is essential for ensuring that it maintains its performance and its safety features, its environmental
friendliness and low running costs unchanged in time.

On automatic sensor controlled
deactivation, the dipped headlights are
deactivated first, followed by the side
lights a few seconds later.
If the sensor is activated but is
malfunctioning, the side lights and
dipped headlights are switched
on irrespective of the external lighting
conditions: the sensor failure is
indicated on the display. It is also
possible to deactivate the sensor and
switch on the desired lights, if
necessary.
IMPORTANT The sensor cannot detect
the presence of fog. These lights must
therefore be switched on manually in
these circumstances.

LPG tank certification
The LPG tank is certified in accordance
with the regulations in force.
In Italy, the tank has a life of 10 years
starting from the vehicle registration
date. If the vehicle has been registered
in a country other than Italy, the
duration and the testing/inspection
procedures of the LPG tank can vary
depending on the national laws of that
country. In any case, when the time limit
in the individual country has run out,
contact a Fiat Dealership to have the
tank replaced.
SELECTION OF
PETROL/LPG SUPPLY
TYPE
35)14) 15) 16)
The (petrol/LPG switch) button A fig. 39
allows drivers to select petrol or LPG
operation.To guarantee switching in absolute
safety, the actual change to the chosen
fuel system takes place depending on
the car usage conditions. It may not
therefore be immediate.
Switching is confirmed by the switching
on/off of the green warning light
on
the instrument panel.
If the LPG runs out, switching to petrol
takes place automatically. In this case
the display shows the
icon just
above wording LPG and the four bars
of the digital gauge turn off.

17) 18)
LPG
Maximum refuelling capacity (reserve
included): 30.5 litres. The figure already
takes into account the 80% tank filling
limit and the residual fluid required
for correct priming and it is the
maximum permitted capacity. In
addition, after different refuelling
processes, this figure may vary due to
differences between the network pump
supply pressures, pumps having
different supply/locking features, tank
not completely run out of fuel.
WARNING
33)It should be pointed out that in some
countries (including Italy) there are legal
restrictions in force for parking/garaging
motor vehicles with gas that has a higher
density than air; LPG comes under this
category.
34)Modifications or repairs to the fuel
system that are not carried out correctly or
do not take the system technical
specifications into account can cause
malfunctions leading to a fire risk.
35)Do not switch between the two
operating modes whilst starting the engine.
WARNING
9)The system operates at temperatures
ranging between −20 °C and 100 °C.
10)If, during LPG operation, the same runs
out, the vehicle switches to petrol
automatically and all the bars of the digital
gauge on the display switch off; this
displaying remains until the following LPG
refuelling.

The methane, stored in the cylinders at
high pressure, flows through a
dedicated pipe to reach the pressure
regulator/reduction unit which supplies
the two methane injectors at low
pressure (about 9 bar).
Cylinder certification
The methane cylinders are certified in
accordance with ECE Regulation
110.
The cylinders must be inspected, in
accordance with ECE Regulation
Procedure no. 110, every 4 years from
the vehicle registration date or in
accordance with specific regulations in
individual countries.
The plates provided by the Dealership
with the on board documentation
contain the date for the first inspection
of the cylinders. Methane refuelling
stations are not authorised to refill the
cylinders when the inspection date has
expired.IMPORTANT If the vehicle has been
registered in a country other than Italy,
the certification data, identification
and inspection procedures for
the methane cylinders should conform
to the legislation in that country. In
any case, remember that the life of the
cylinders is 20 years from the
production date as set out in ECE
Regulation no. 110.
SELECTION OF
PETROL/METHANE
SUPPLY TYPE
39)20) 21) 22)
This engine normally runs on methane
except during starting, when it runs
on petrol.
The (petrol/methane switch) button A
fig. 42 allows drivers to select petrol or
methane operation. To guarantee switching in full safety, the
actual change to the chosen fuel
system takes place depending on the
car usage conditions; it may not
therefore be immediate.
Switching is confirmed by the switching
on/off of the green warning light
on
the instrument panel.
In addition, when starting at outside
temperatures below approximately
–10°C, the switching times from petrol
to methane increase to allow the
pressure regulator/reduction unit to
heat up.
If the methane has run out, switching to
petrol takes place automatically. In this
case, the four bars of the digital gauge
switch off and the green warning light
on the instrument panel switches on.

Warning light What it means
Engine oil degraded
(diesel versions with DPF)
The warning light comes on flashing, on some versions along with a dedicated message on the display.
The warning light flashes for 3 minute cycles with the warning light off for intervals of 5 seconds until oil is
changed.
After the first indication, at each engine start up the warning light will continue flashing as described above
until the oil is changed. On certain versions a dedicated message is displayed.
The flashing of the warning light should not be considered as a fault, it simply informs the customer that the
oil needs to be changed following normal vehicle use.
Remember that the deterioration of the engine oil is accelerated by:
❒mainly town use of the vehicle which makes the DPF regeneration process more frequent;
❒use of the vehicle for short drives, in which the engine does not have time to reach its regular operating
temperature;
❒repeated interruption of the regeneration process, signalled by the DPF warning light switching on.
44)
WARNING
44)Degraded engine oil should be replaced as soon as possible after the warning light comes on, and never more than 500 km after it first
comes on. Failure to observe the above indications may result in severe damage to the engine and invalidate the warranty. Remember that
the operation of this warning light is not related to the amount of oil in the engine. Therefore, never top up with oil when the light starts
flashing.

Driving in special conditions
In certain driving conditions, such as,
for example:
❒driving close to a bend (see fig. 52);
❒vehicles with small dimensions
and/or not aligned in the driving lane
(see fig. 53);
❒lane change by other vehicles (see
fig. 54);
system intervention can be unexpected
or delayed. The driver must therefore
be very careful, keeping control of
the vehicle to drive in complete safety.
IMPORTANT If you are driving on roads
close to trees with protruding branches
it is advisable to deactivate the system
to prevent the branches at the height
of the bonnet or the windscreen from
interfering with the system.iTPMS (indirect Tyre
Pressure Monitoring
System)
(for versions/markets, where provided)
75) 76) 77) 78) 79) 80)
The vehicle can be equipped with the
iTPMS (indirect Tire Pressure
Monitoring System) which monitors the
tyre inflation status thanks to wheel
speed sensors. The system warns the driver if one or
more tyres are flat by the dedicated
warning light continuously on and a
dedicated warning message on the
display.
If one tyre only is flat, the system can
indicate its position: it is in any case
recommended to check the pressure
on all four tyres.
This indication is displayed also when
turning the engine off and on again until
the RESET procedure is carried out.
Reset procedure
The iTPMS needs an initial "self-
learning" phase (with length depending
on the driving style and road conditions:
optimal conditions being driving on a
straight road at 80 km/h for at least 20
minutes) which starts when the Reset
procedure is carried out.
The Reset procedure must be carried
out:
❒each time tyre pressure is modified;
❒when even only one tyre is changed;
❒when tyres are rotated/inverted;
❒when the space-saver wheel is fitted.
Before carrying out the Reset
procedure, inflate the tyres to the rated
pressure values specified in the inflation
pressure table (see "Wheels" paragraph
in the "Technical specifications"
chapter).

SAFETY
WARNING
122)Never leave children unattended in
the vehicle. Always remove the key from
the ignition device when leaving the vehicle
and take it with you.
123)The vehicle should be braked after a
few clicks of the lever, if it is not, contact
a Fiat Dealership to have it adjusted.
124)In the case of parking manoeuvres on
roads on a gradient, the front wheels
must be steered towards the pavement
(when parking downhill), or in the opposite
direction if the vehicle is parked uphill. If
the vehicle is parked on a steep slope, it is
also advisable to block the wheels with a
wedge or stone.
MANUAL GEARBOX
125)42)
To engage the gears, press the clutch
pedal fully and put the gear lever into
the required position (the diagram
for gear engagement is shown on the
knob fig. 79).
For 0.9 TwinAir, 0.9 TwinAir Turbo and
1.2 8v 69 HP versions: to engage
reverse R from neutral, raise ring A fig.
79 underneath the knob and, at the
same time, shift the lever to the right
and then backwards.
For version 1.3 16v MultiJet: to engage
reverse R from neutral position, shift
the lever to the right and then back.IMPORTANT Reverse can only be
engaged when the vehicle is completely
stationary. With the engine running,
wait for at least 2 seconds with the
clutch pedal fully pressed before
engaging reverse to prevent damage to
the gears and grating.
IMPORTANT The clutch pedal should
be used only for gear changes. Do
not drive with your foot resting on the
clutch pedal, however lightly. For
versions/markets where provided, the
electronic clutch pedal control could cut
in, interpreting the incorrect driving
style as a fault.
WARNING
125)Depress the clutch pedal fully to
change gear correctly. It is therefore
essential that there is nothing under the
pedals: make sure the mats are lying
flat and do not get in the way of the
pedals.
WARNING
42)Do not drive with your hand resting on
the gear lever as the force exerted, even
if slight, could lead over time to premature
wear of the internal gearbox components.
