The restraints control module alsomonitors the readiness of the above safetydevices plus the crash and occupantsensors. The readiness of the safetysystem is indicated by a warning indicatorlight in the instrument cluster or by abackup tone if the warning light is notworking. Routine maintenance of theairbag is not required.
A difficulty with the system is indicated byone or more of the following:
•The readiness light will not illuminateimmediately after you switch theignition on.
•The readiness light either flashes orstays lit.
•A series of five beeps is heard. The tonepattern repeats periodically until theproblem, the light or both are repaired.
If any of these things happen, evenintermittently, have the supplementalrestraint system serviced at an authorizeddealer immediately. Unless serviced, thesystem may not function properly in theevent of a crash.
The restraint system is designed toactivate when the vehicle sustainsconditions sufficient to cause the restraintcontrol module to deploy a safety device.
The fact that not all the safety devicesactivate for all occupants in a crash doesnot mean something is wrong with thesystem. Rather, it means the restraintscontrol module determined the accidentconditions (crash severity, type of crash, belt usage) were not appropriate toactivate these safety devices.
•The front airbags are designed toactivate only in frontal and near-frontalcrashes (not rollovers, side impacts orrear impacts) unless the crash causessufficient frontal deceleration.
•The seatbelt pretensioners aredesigned to activate in frontal,near-frontal and side crashes, and inrollovers.
•The knee airbag(s) may deploy basedon crash severity and occupantconditions.
•The side airbags are designed to inflatein certain side impact crashes orrollover events. Side airbags mayactivate in other types of crashes if yourvehicle experiences sufficient sidewaysmotion or deformation, or a certainlikelihood of rollover.
•The Safety Canopy is designed toinflate in certain side impact crashesor rollover events. The Safety Canopymay activate in other types of crashesif your vehicle experiences sufficientsideways motion or deformation, or acertain likelihood of rollover.
AIRBAG DISPOSAL
Contact your authorized dealer as soon aspossible. Airbags must be disposed of byqualified personnel.

*This method only works for vehicles withthe hands-free liftgate feature.
Setting the Liftgate Open Height
1.Open the liftgate.
2.Stop the liftgate movement by pressingthe control button on the liftgate whenit reaches the desired height.
Note:Once the liftgate has stoppedmoving, you can also manually move it tothe desired height.
3.Press and hold the liftgate controlbutton on the liftgate until you hear atone, indicating programming iscomplete.
Note:You can only use the liftgate controlbutton to program the height.
Note:You cannot program the height if theliftgate position is too low.
The new open liftgate height is recalledwhen the power liftgate is opened. Tochange the programmed height, repeat theabove procedure. Once you open thepower liftgate, you can manually move itto a different height.
Note:The system recalls the newprogrammed height until you reprogram it,even if you disconnect the battery.
When operating the power liftgate afteryou have programmed a lower height thanfully open, you can fully open the liftgateby manually pushing it upward to themaximum open position.
Obstacle Detection
Note:Entering your vehicle while theliftgate is closing can cause your vehicle tobounce and activate obstacle detection. Toprevent this, let the power liftgate closecompletely before you enter your vehicle. Before driving off, check the instrumentcluster for a liftgate or door ajar message orwarning indicator. Failure to do this couldresult in unintentionally leaving the liftgateopen while driving.
When Closing
The system stops when it detects anobstacle. A tone sounds and the systemreverses to open. Once you remove theobstacle, you can power close the liftgate.
When Opening
The system stops when it detects anobstacle and a tone sounds. Once youremove the obstacle, you can continue tooperate the liftgate.
Switching the Power Liftgate Onor Off
You can switch the power liftgate on or offthrough the vehicle settings on yourtouchscreen.
When switched off, the liftgate onlyunlatches and will not power open or close.
Hands-Free Feature (If Equipped)
Make sure you have the passive key within3 ft (1 m) of the liftgate.
1.Stand behind your vehicle, and face theliftgate.
2.Move your foot, in a single-kick motion, without pausing, under and away fromthe rear bumper detection area.

Auto-Folding Mirrors
The exterior mirrors automatically fold intoward the glass after you place thetransmission into park (P), switch thevehicle off, open and close the driver doorand lock the vehicle. The exterior mirrorsautomatically unfold and return to theirdriving position after you unlock the vehicleand open and close the driver door.
You can switch this feature on and offthrough the instrument cluster display. SeeGeneral Information (page 115).
You can fold the mirrors on demand bypressing the power-folding mirror controlon the door. The control light turns on andthe mirrors fold in toward the glass. Pressthe control again to unfold the mirrors. Thecontrol light turns off.
Note:If you use the power-folding controlto fold the mirrors on demand with the autofold feature on, you must use the controlagain to unfold them.
Loose Mirror
If you manually fold your power-foldingmirrors, they may not work properly evenafter you reposition them. You need toreset them if:
•The mirrors vibrate when you drive.
•The mirrors feel loose.
•The mirrors do not stay in the folded orunfolded position.
•One of the mirrors is not in its normaldriving position.
To reset the power-fold feature, use thepower-folding mirror control to fold andunfold the mirrors. You may hear a loudnoise as you reset the power-foldingmirrors. This sound is normal. Repeat thisprocess as needed each time you manuallyfold the mirrors.
