FUEL GAUGEGUID-913F58A4-7C94-40BF-A84A-AA3C1EDD0145The gauge indicates theapproximatefuel level
in the tank.
The gauge may move slightly during braking,
turning, acceleration, or going up or down hills.
Refill the fuel tank before the gauge
registers ªEº (Empty) .
The low fuel warning
appears on the vehicle
information display when the amount of fuel in
the tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as it is
convenient, preferably before the gauge reaches
ªEº. There will be a small reserve of fuel in the
tank when the fuel gauge reaches ªEº.
The
indicates that the fuel-filler door is located on the passenger's side of the vehicle.
CAUTION
.
If the vehicle runs out of fuel, the
malfunction indicator light (MIL)
may come on. Refuel as soon as
possible. After a few driving trips,
the
light should turn off. If the
light remains on after a few driving
trips, have the vehicle inspected. It
is recommended you visit a NISSAN
dealer for this service.

orAnti-lock Braking System
(ABS) warning light
GUID-8A62F588-9043-44FD-BA02-00E8EAA88718When the ignition switch is in the ON position,
the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning
light illuminates and then turns off. This indicates
the ABS is operational.
If the ABS warning light illuminates while the
engine is running, or while driving, it may
indicate the ABS is not functioning properly.
Have the system checked. It is recommended
you visit a NISSAN dealer for this service.
If an ABS malfunction occurs, the anti-lock
function is turned off. The brake system then
operates normally, but without anti-lock assis-
tance. (See ªBrake systemº (P.5-27).)
Automatic transmission check
warning light (if so equipped)

position, the light comes on for 2 seconds. If the
light comes on at any other time, it may indicate
the transmission is not functioning properly. It is
recommended you visit a NISSAN dealer to
check and repair the transmission.

and the foot brake systems.
Parking brake indicator:

the light comes on when the parking brake is
applied.
Low brake fluid warning light:

the light warns of a low brake fluid level. If the
light comes on while the engine is running with
the parking brake not applied, stop the vehicle
and perform the following:
1. Check the brake fluid level. Add brake fluid
as necessary. (See ªBrake and clutch fluidº
(P.8-9) .)
2. If the brake fluid level is correct, have the warning system checked. It is recommended
you have this service performed by a
NISSAN dealer.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning
indicator:

brake fluid level is sufficient, if both the brake
warning light and the Anti-lock Braking System
(ABS) warning light illuminate, it may indicate
the ABS is not functioning properly. Have the

Restraint Systems and/or the pretensioner seat
belt may not function properly.

WARNING
If the supplemental air bag warning
light is on, it could mean that the front
air bag, side air bag and curtain air bag
systems and/or pretensioner system
will not operate in an accident. To help
avoid injury to yourself or others, have
your vehicle checked. It is recom-
mended you visit a NISSAN dealer for
this service.
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
warning light
GUID-5A9BB12B-5478-42C2-BF85-08F700A010D9When the ignition switch is in the ON position,
the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) warning
light illuminates and then turns off.
The light will blink when the VDC system or the
traction control system is operating, thus alerting
the driver that the vehicle is nearing its traction
limits. The road surface may be slippery.
When the VDC warning light illuminates when the VDC system is turned on, this light alerts the
driver to the fact that the VDC system's fail-safe
mode is operating, for example the VDC system
may not be functioning properly. Have the
system checked. It is recommended you visit a
NISSAN dealer for this service. If a malfunction
occurs in the system, the VDC system function
will be canceled but the vehicle is still driveable.

main switch is pushed. The light turns off when
the main switch is pushed again. When the
cruise main switch indicator light illuminates, the
cruise control system is operational. (See

Cruise malfunction:

engine is running, it may indicate the cruise
control system is not functioning properly. Have
the system checked. It is recommended you visit
a NISSAN dealer for this service. (See ªCruise

Exterior light indicatorGUID-CA4BF6C0-A5BD-4A04-95DE-903720E77D96This indicator illuminates when the headlight
switch is turned to the AUTO,
or
position and the front parking lights, instrument
panel lights, rear combination lights, license
plate lights or headlights are on. The indicator
turns off when these lights are turned off.
Front passenger air bag status lightGUID-DD654487-22A6-4A1B-9743-5306D27CD18DThe front passenger air bag status light () ,
located on the center of the instrument panel,
will be lit and the passenger front air bag will be
OFF depending on how the front passenger
seat is being used.

beam is on and goes out when the low beam is
selected.

Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)GUID-9E78C1B0-5871-4B15-924B-0676AB904329If the malfunction indicator light comes on
steady or blinks while the engine is running, it
may indicate a potential emission control mal-
function.
The malfunction indicator light may also come on
steady if the fuel-filler cap is loose or missing, or
if the vehicle runs out of fuel. Check to make
sure the fuel-filler cap is installed and closed
tightly, and that the vehicle has at least 3 US
gallons (11.4 liters) of fuel in the fuel tank.
After a few driving trips, the
light should
turn off if no other potential emission control
system malfunction exists.
If this indicator light remains on for 20 seconds
and then blinks for 10 seconds when the engine
is not running, it indicates that the vehicle is not
ready for an emission control system inspection/
maintenance test. (See ªReadiness for Inspec-
tion/Maintenance (I/M) testº (P.10-24) .)
Operation:
GUID-0D441637-68C6-4091-800D-3B0432A1AC46The malfunction indicator light will come on in
one of two ways:
. Malfunction indicator light on steady Ð An
emission control system malfunction has
been detected. Check the fuel-filler cap if
the LOOSE FUEL CAP warning appears in
the vehicle information display. If the fuel- filler cap is loose or missing, tighten or install
the cap and continue to drive the vehicle.
The
light should turn off after a few
driving trips. If the
light does not turn off
after a few driving trips, have the vehicle
inspected. It is recommended you visit a
NISSAN dealer for this service. You do not
need to have your vehicle towed to the
dealer.
. Malfunction indicator light blinking Ð An
engine misfire has been detected which may
damage the emission control system.
To reduce or avoid emission control system
damage:
1) Do not drive at speeds above 45 MPH
(72 km/h) .
2) Avoid hard acceleration or deceleration.
3) Avoid steep uphill grades.
4) If possible, reduce the amount of cargo being hauled or towed.
The malfunction indicator light may stop
blinking and remain on.
Have the vehicle inspected. It is recom-
mended you visit a NISSAN dealer for this
service. You do not need to have your
vehicle towed to the dealer.
CAUTION
Continued vehicle operation without
having the emission control system
checked and repaired as necessary
could lead to poor driveability, reduced
fuel economy, and possible damage to
the emission control system.
Rear fog light indicator light (if so
equipped)

the rear fog light is on. (See ªFog light switchº
(P.2-37) .)
Security indicator lightGUID-9F729430-3E34-44B2-AF7C-8A7F9C95A94AThe light blinks when the ignition switch is in the
ACC, OFF or LOCK position. This function
indicates the security system equipped on the
vehicle is operational.
If the security system is malfunctioning, this light
will remain on while the ignition switch is in the
ON position. For additional information, see
ªSecurity systemsº (P.2-28) .

Soft top indicator light (Roadster
models)
GUID-0030E277-2F8A-4DD8-BC11-0858364444B4This light illuminates when the soft top is being
operated or it is stopped before reaching a full
open/close state. When the top is fully opened
or closed, the light will turn off.
The light blinks while the soft top is not fully
opened or closed under the following condi-
tions:
. When the vehicle is driven.
. When the shift lever is in the R (Reverse)
position.
Be sure to fully open or close the soft top when
driving the vehicle.
The soft top can be moved with the soft top
operating switch only under all of the following
conditions:
. When the vehicle is stopped.
. When the ignition switch is ON.
. When the trunk is closed.
. When the shift lever is in a position other
than the R (Reverse) position.
CAUTION
Operate the soft top with the engine
running to prevent a discharged battery.
When the soft top is operating, if any of the
above conditions are discontinued or any of the
following conditions are met, the top will stop
operating.
. When the shift lever is in the R (Reverse)
position.
. When the vehicle moves at a speed of 3
MPH (5 km/h) or more.
. When the battery voltage is extremely low.
. When the temperature of the soft top
system becomes extremely high.
Release the operating switch, and push it again
under the above conditions until the top is fully
opened or closed. The soft top indicator light will
turn off when the top operation is completely
finished.
If the soft top indicator light illuminates with the
ignition switch ON, it may indicate the electric
soft top control unit is not functioning properly.
Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
It is recommended you visit a NISSAN dealer for

SynchroRev Match mode (S-
MODE) indicator (if so equipped)

SynchroRev Match mode (S-MODE) is acti-
vated. (See ªSynchroRev Match mode (S-
MODE) (if so equipped for Manual Transmission

Transmission position indicator (if
so equipped)

position, the indicator shows the transmission
position.
For AT models:

does not shift to the selected gear due to the
transmission protection mode, the AT position
indicator light will blink and a buzzer will sound.

is below 378F (38C) . The warning can be set not
to be displayed. (See ªTrip computerº (P.2-23) .)
9. SynchroRev Match mode (S-MODE)
warning
GUID-C447488B-81AA-430F-A921-D8024D24AA7AThis warning appears if a system malfunction
occurs. When the warning appears, the S-
MODE function will not operate, but the manual
transmission will operate normally and driving
can be continued. Have the system checked. It
is recommended you visit a NISSAN dealer for
this service.
10. Extended storage fuse warningGUID-2B7909ED-3C60-43BF-809C-8242216A5944This warning may appear if the extended storage
fuse switch is not pushed in (switched on) .
When this warning appears, push in (switch on)
the extended storage fuse switch to turn off the
warning. For more information, see ªExtended
storage fuse switchº (P.8-19) .

for replacing tires. You can set or reset the

WARNING
The tire replacement indicator is not a
substitute for regular tire checks, in-
cluding tire pressure checks. See
ªChanging wheels and tiresº(P.8-33) .
Many factors including tire inflation,
alignment, driving habits and road con-
ditions affect tire wear and when tires

How to stop an activated alarmGUID-133FDAA4-EBA9-4769-B8EA-DF975D1E3DDDThe alarm will stop by unlocking a door by
pushing the unlock button on the Intelligent Key,
the door handle request switch or using the
mechanical key. The alarm will not stop if the
ignition switch is pushed to the ACC or ON
position.
If the system does not operate as de-
scribed above, it is recommended you have
it checked by a NISSAN dealer.
NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER SYS-
TEM
GUID-2D5A9EF8-7A52-4FF4-ABCE-62012B07B335The NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System will not
allow the engine to start without the use of the
registered Intelligent Key. Never leave these
keys in the vehicle.

Security indicator lightGUID-33A88AC0-39D6-4A91-9BDA-A3F5E9B635FCThe security indicator light is located on the
meter panel. It indicates the status of the
NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System.
The light blinks after the ignition switch is in the
LOCK, ACC or OFF position. This function
indicates the security systems equipped on the
vehicle are operational.
If the NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System is
malfunctioning, this light will remain on while the
ignition switch is in the ON position.
If the light still remains on and/or the
engine will not start, seek service for
NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System as

To defog/defrost the rear window glass and
outside mirrors, start the engine and push the
switch
*1on. The indicator light*2will come
on. Push the switch again to turn the defroster
off.
It will automatically turn off in approximately 15
minutes.
CAUTION
. When cleaning the inner side of the
rear window, be careful not to
scratch or damage the rear window
defroster.
. Do not use the rear window defros-
ter switch while the soft top is being
operated or fully opened. The heat
may damage the top material and/
or components (for Roadster mod-
els) .

WARNING
HIGH VOLTAGE
. When xenon headlights are on, they
produce a high voltage. To prevent
an electric shock, never attempt to
modify or disassemble. Always have
your xenon headlights replaced by a
certified service technician.
. Xenon headlights provide consider-
ably more light than conventional
headlights. If they are not correctly
aimed, they might temporarily blind
an oncoming driver or the driver
ahead of you and cause a serious
accident. If headlights are not aimed
correctly, it is recommended you
immediately take your vehicle to a
NISSAN dealer and have the head-
lights adjusted correctly.
When the xenon headlight is initially turned on,
its brightness or color varies slightly. However,
the color and brightness will soon stabilize.
. The life of xenon headlights will be
shortened by frequent on-off opera- tion. It is generally desirable not to turn
off the headlights for short intervals
(for example, when the vehicle stops at
a traffic signal) .
. If the xenon headlight bulb is close to
burning out, the brightness will drasti-
cally decrease, the light will start
blinking, or the color of the light will
become reddish. If one or more of the
above signs appear, it is recommended
you visit a NISSAN dealer.

CAUTION
.Do not place objects in front of the
intake inlets located behind and
under the front seat. Doing so could
cause improper operation or inter-
ruption of the operation.
. The battery could run down if the
climate controlled seat is operated
while the engine is not running.
. Do not use the climate controlled
seat for extended periods or when
no one is using the seat.
. Do not put anything on the seat
which insulates heat, such as a
blanket, cushion, seat cover, etc.
Otherwise, the seat may become
overheated.
. Do not place anything hard or heavy
on the seat or pierce it with a pin or
similar object. This may result in
damage to the climate controlled
seat.
. Any liquid spilled on the seat should
be removed immediately with a dry
cloth. .
The climate controlled seat has air
filters. Do not operate the climate
controlled seat without the air fil-
ters. This may result in damage to
the system.
. When cleaning the seat, never use
gasoline, thinner, or any similar
materials.
. If any malfunctions are found or the
climate controlled seat does not
operate, turn the switch off and
have the system checked. It is
recommended you visit a NISSAN
dealer for this service.

The vehicle should be driven with the Vehicle
Dynamic Control (VDC) system on for most
driving conditions.
If the vehicle is stuck in mud or snow, the VDC
system reduces the engine output to reduce
wheel spin. The engine speed will be reduced
even if the accelerator is depressed to the floor.
If maximum engine power is needed to free a
stuck vehicle, turn the VDC system off.
To turn off the VDC system, push the VDC OFF
switch. The
indicator light will illuminate.
Push the VDC OFF switch again or restart the
engine to turn on the system. (See ªVehicle
Dynamic Control (VDC) systemº (P.5-29) .)

NOTE:
. In case of low battery or low tempera-
ture, the top may temporarily stop
moving during the operation. This func-
tions to protect the top control me-
chanism, and it is not a malfunction.
. If the top is opened and closed repeat-
edly in a short period of time or the top
operation is stopped while opening or
closing, the top operation may be
automatically stopped to protect the
system. Wait for approximately 5 min-
utes before operating the top again.

panel shows the conditions of top operation.
The light illuminates when the soft top is being
operated or if it is stopped before reaching the
fully opened or closed position. When the top is
fully opened or closed, the light will turn off.
The light blinks while the soft top is not fully

tions:
.When the vehicle is driven.
. When the shift lever is in the R (Reverse)
