Phonetic Modification

Phonetic Modification
Add phonetic modifications of difficult or foreign words so that it is easier for SBV to
recognize artists, songs, albums, and composers in voice commands when searching
for music on the HDD or iPod®. 1.Rotate i to select New
Modification . Press u.
2. Rotate i to select the media
source ( HDD or iPod). Press u.1Phonetic Modification
You can also display the Music Search Setup
items in the DISC (music CD) or HDD mode.
Select HDD Setup in AUDIO MENU .
Phonetic Modification is grayed out when
Song By Voice is set to OFF.
This feature is only available when the system
language is set to English.
You can store up to 2000 phonetic modification
items.
SBV may not be able to recognize languages
other than English. The Phonetic Modification
feature is helpful in the following situations:
•The music information cannot be identified
using Gracenote®.
•The phonetics are in languages other than
English.

Audio System
About Your Audio System
The audio system features FM/AM radio and SiriusXM® Radio. It can also play audio
discs, WMA/MP3/AAC tracks, iP od®, USB flash drives, and Bluetooth® devices.
The audio system is operable from the butto ns and switches on the panel, or the
remote controls on the steering wheel.

Auxiliary Input Jack
Use the jack in the front console compartment to connect standard audio devices.
1.Open the AUX cover.
2. Connect a standard audio device to
the input jack using a 1/8 inch
stereo miniplug.
The audio system automatically
switches to the AUX mode.

In some cases, the name of the artist, album, or
track may not appear correctly.
State or local laws may pr ohibit the operation of
handheld electronic devices while operating a
vehicle.
SiriusXM® Radio is avai lable on a subscription
basis only.

To switch the mode, press any of the other audio
mode buttons. You can return to the AUX mode
by pressing the HDD/AUX button.
You cannot use the auxili ary input jack if you
replace the audio system.

The system is disabled when it is disconnected from the power source, such as when
the battery is disconnected or goes dead.
■ Reactivating the System
1. Set the power mode to ON, and turn on the system.
If you set the power mode to ACCESSORY, you will be requested to enter the
security code. See step 3.
2. Press and hold the VOL 9 (Volume/Power) button again for more than two
seconds.
The system is reactivated when the syst em’s control unit recognizes that the
system is in your vehicle.
If the control unit fails to recognize, “ENTER CODE” appears on the navigation
screen.
3. Enter the security code.
If you do not enter the code correctly after 10 tries, leave the system for one
hour before trying again, or visit a dealer to have the system reset.
1Audio System Theft Protection
Find the audio system’s se curity code and serial
number label in your Owner’s Manual kit.
Do not store the label in y our vehicle. If you lose
the label, you must first retrieve the serial
number, and then obtain the code from a dealer.

You can register the security code at Acura
Owners (owners.acura.com.), and find
information on how to retr ieve the serial number
and obtain the code at radio-

Playing FM/AM Radio
Selecting FM/AM Mode
1.Press the FM/AM button.
Press the FM/AM button again, if necessary, to select the frequency band (AM,
FM1, FM2).
2. Select a station using the Preset buttons and the bars (SKIP, TUNE, SCAN/A.SEL)
On the FM bands, you can also use the CATEGORY bar and TITLE button to
select a station provided by the Radio Data System (RDS).
The band and frequency are displayed on the display.

The ST indicator comes on the display for stereo
FM broadcasts. Stereo re production in AM is not
available.
The radio can receive the complete AM and FM
bands:
AM band: 530 to 1710 kHz
FM band: 87.7 to 107.9 MHz
You can store six AM stati ons and 12 FM stations
in the preset buttons. FM1 and FM2 let you store
six stations each.

• Scan : Scans for stations with a strong signal in the current band and plays a 10-
second sample. Select Scan again to stop scanning and play the current selection.
• A.Sel (Auto Select) : When set to ON, scans and automatica lly stores up to six
AM stations and 12 FM stations with a strong signal in the preset buttons.
• Tune : Tunes the radio to the frequency you select. Rotate i to select a
frequency.

A.Sel is ON . If you do not like the stations Auto
Select has stored, you can change the
frequencies stored in the preset buttons
manually. Set A.Sel to OFF to restore the
previous preset button settings.

Radio Data System (RDS)
Provides text data information related to your selected RDS capable FM station.
Press the TITLE button to turn RDS informati on on or off. When set to ON, the name
of the FM station is displayed on the displa y. When set to OFF, the frequency of the
station is displayed.

Search for FM stations with a strong signal that are broadcast the selected RDS
category information. 1.Move w or y to select a search
method ( Seek up, Seek down ,
Scan ).
2. Rotate i to select a category.
Press u.
Scanning for stations in that
category begins. When an RDS
station is found, it begins to
play.
If there are no RDS-capable
stations in the area, “NOTHING”
briefly appears on the display.

In the channel mode, all available channels are
selectable. In the categor y mode, you can select
a channel within a category (Jazz, Rock, Classical,
etc.).
There may be instances when SiriusXM® Radio
does not broadcast all th e data fields (artist
name, title). This does not indicate a problem
with your audio system.
You can store 12 Sirius XM® stations in the
preset buttons. XM1 and XM2 let you store six
stations each.
SiriusXM® Radio displa y messages will be
displayed on the audio screen.
