Engine Control Module (ECM)
voltage supply, checking
Note:
To check the ECM voltage supply Repair
Group 01, Read measuring value block, display
group 001, display field 4.
Fuse for ECM OK
- Connect test box VAG 1598/19 to ECM wiring
harness page 01

- Switch ignition on.
- Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between test
box socket D10 (B+) and Ground (GND).
Voltage tester must light up
If voltage tester does not light up:
If voltage tester lights up: - Check for open circuit using wiring diagram, and repair as necessary.

Connect voltage tester between test box socket D10 (B+) and then in
sequence to test box Ground (GND) sockets A19, D3, D7, D12, E3, E7

If voltage tester does not light up:
If voltage tester does not light up: - Check wiring using wiring diagram and eliminate open circuit if
necessary.
- Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between test box socket B10 (B+)
and engine Ground (GND).
Voltage tester must light up
- Check wiring between ECM connector B terminal 10 and central
electrical panel using wiring diagram and, if necessary, eliminate open
circuit.
