describes
all
standard,
country-spejcific
and
special
equipment
available
for
themodel
series.
It
may
therefore
describe
equipj
ment
and
functions
which
are
not
installed
in
your
vehicle,
for
example
on
account
of
the
opj
tional
equipment
selected
or
the
country
variant.
This
also
applies
to
safety-relevant
functions
and
systems.
Please
comply
with
the
relevant
laws
and
regulations
when
using
the
corresponding
functions
and
systems.
General
Depending
on
the
situation,
the
vehicle
is
in
one of
the
three
states:
'xRest
state.'xStandby
state.'xDrive-ready
state.
Rest
state
Principle
If
the
vehicle
is
in
rest
state,
it
is
switched
off.
All
electrical
consumers
are
deactivated.
General
The
vehicle
is
in
rest
state
before
you
open
it
from
outside
and
once
you
have
left
the
vehicle
and
locked
it.
Safety
notes
WARNING
An
unsecured
vehicle
can
start
moving
and
rollj ing
away.
There
is
a
risk
of
accident.
Before
leaving
the
vehicle,
secure
it
to
prevent
it
from
rolling
away.
Observe
the
following
to
ensure
that
the
vehij cle
is
secured
against
rolling
away:
'xApply
the
parking
brake.'xTurn
the
front
wheels
towards
the
kerb
on
upward
or
downward
gradients.'xAdditionally
secure
the
vehicle
on
upward
or
downward
gradients,
for
example
with
a chock.
WARNING
Unsupervised
children
or
pets
in
the
vehicle can
set
the
vehicle
in
motion
and
endanger
themselves
or
other
road
users,
for
example
by
the
following
actions:

start/stop

and
closing
doors
or

There
is
a
risk
of
accidents

Do
not
leave

pets
unsupervised

When
leaving
the
vehicle,
take
the
vehicle key
with
you
and
lock
the
vehicle.
Automatic
rest
state
The
vehicle
switches
automatically
to
rest
state
under
the
following
conditions:

minutes,
if
no
operation

Standby
state
Principle
When
standby
state
is
activated,
most
functions
can
be
operated
while
the
vehicle
is
still
stationj
ary.
Any
desired
settings
can
be
performed.
General
The
vehicle
switches
to
standby
state
after
the front
doors
are
opened
from
the
outside.
Display
in
the
instrument
cluster OFF
is
shown
in
the
instrument
cluster.
The
drive
is
switched
off
and
standby
state
switched
on.
Drive-ready
state
Principle
Switching
on
drive-ready
state
corresponds
to
starting
the
engine.
General Some
functions
can
only
be
operated
when
the
drive-ready
state
is
switched
on.
Safety
notes
DANGER
A
blocked
exhaust
pipe
or
inadequate
ventilaj
tion
can
allow
harmful
exhaust
fumes
to
enter
the
vehicle.
The
exhaust
fumes
contain
polluj
tants
which
are
colourless
and
odourless.
In
enj closed
spaces,
exhaust
fumes
can
also
build
upoutside
the
vehicle.
There
is
a
risk
of
death.
Keep
the
exhaust
pipe
clear
and
ensure
suffij
cient
ventilation.
WARNING
An
unsecured
vehicle
can
start
moving
and
rollj ing
away.
There
is
a
risk
of
accident.
Before
leaving
the
vehicle,
secure
it
to
prevent
it
from
rolling
away.

Repeated
attempts
to
start
the
vehicle

quick

in
unburned
or
insufficiently
burned
fuel.
The

alytic
converter
can
overheat.
There
is
a
risk
of
material
damage.
Avoid
repeatedly
starting
in quick
succession.
Switching
on
drive-ready
state
Principle Drive-ready
state
is
switched
on
using
the
start/stop
button:

sport
transmission
1.Depress
the
brake
pedal.2.Press

start/stop
button.
The
starting
process
is
activated
automatically
for
a
short
time
and
stops
as
soon
as
the
engine
starts.
Most
of
the
indicator
and
warning
lamps
in
the instrument
cluster
are
illuminated
for
different
lengths
of
time.
Petrol
engine
Depending
on
the
engine
version,
full
drive
power
may
only
be
available
approx.
30
seconds
after
starting
the
engine.
In
this
case,
the
vehicle
will
not
accelerate
in
the
usual
way.
Display
in
the
instrument
cluster
When
drive-ready
state
is
switched
on,
the
revoj
lution
counter
shows
the
current
engine
speed.

areas.
The left
area
contains
menu
items
that
can
be
used to
call
up

the
iDrive
functions.
The
right

provide

functions.
Media/Radio


All
of
the
entertainment
system
functions,
for
example
radio
and
TV
stations,
connection
with external
devices
and
music
collection.
Communication


Telephone
and
message
functions,
e-mail
and
calendar,
as
well
as
the
connection
and
management
of
mobile
devices
such
as
smartj phones.
Navigation


Access
to
navigation
system,
destination

try
and
traffic
information.
Configurable
map
views
as
well
as
other
functions
such
