This comes on when the
ignition switch is at ON. Wait until this light has switched off before
starting.
The duration for which this is displayed is
determined by the exterior climatic conditions.

Handbrake /
Brake fl uid level Fixed This comes on for a
few seconds when the
ignition is turned to “ON”
then switches off.
It is accompanied by a message on the
instrument panel display.
The handbrake is
applied or has not been
released fully. It is accompanied by a message on the
instrument panel display. Release the handbrake
to switch off the warning light.
The brake fl uid level is
too low. It is accompanied by a message on the
instrument panel display. Top up with brake fl uid
and contact a CITROËN dealer.
Emission
control system Fixed or
fl ashing This comes on or
fl ashes if the system
fails. Consult a CITROËN dealer.
It should switch off a few seconds after starting
the engine.
Battery charge
Fixed This comes on if a
charging circuit fault
occurs. It should switch off when the engine is started.
It is accompanied by a message on the
instrument panel display. Check the battery
terminals (refer to the “Battery” section).

unfastened his seat belt. This is accompanied by a message on the
instrument panel display.
Fasten the driver’s seat belt.
ABS
Fixed This comes on if an
anti-lock braking system
failure occurs. It is accompanied by a message on the
instrument panel display. The vehicle retains
conventional braking without assistance but
you are advised to stop. Have it checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
Air bags and
pretensioners Fixed This comes on for a
few seconds when the
ignition is turned to “ON”
then switches off.
It should switch off when the engine is started. If
it does not switch off, contact a CITROËN dealer.
This comes on if an air
bag or pretensioner
failure occurs. It is accompanied by a message on the
instrument panel display. Have the system
checked by a CITROËN dealer without delay.

Each time the engine is started: a series of warning lights and/or messages come on applying a checking self test. They
switch off after a few seconds. Engine running: the warning light or the message becomes a warning if it remains on
continuously or fl ashes. This initial warning may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the display. Do not
ignore these warnings.
When the cause of the appearance of the warning light o r warning message has been rectifi ed, the warning disappears fro m
the display automatically. If the cause of the warning is n ot rectifi ed, you can return to the previous screen at any time b y
pressing the INFO button on the fascia.
The symbol “!” is displayed.
To return to the previous screen (with the “!” symbol), you must press the
INFO button several times.

Warning messages (ignition at “OFF”)
You can shut down the warning messages which show these symbol
s in order to move on to the next screen.
To do this, press the INFO button according to the symbol displayed.

In foggy weather or in snow,
the brightness sensor can de-
tect suffi cient light. The lights
will not come on automatically.
Do not cover the brightness sensor,
the associated functions will no long-
er be controlled.
Automatic lighting
Daytime lights *
* According to country. This warning light comes on
on the instrument panel.
The instruments and controls (instru-
ment panel, multifunction display, air
conditioning control panel, etc.) are lit. Automatic switching off
When the lights stalk is at “dipped head-
lamps or main beam headlamps”, if the
ignition switch is at “LOCK” or “ACC” or
if the key has been removed from the
ignition switch, the lights switch off au-
tomatically
when the driver’s door is
opened .
On vehicles which are equipped with
daytime lights, the dipped headlamps
come on when the vehicle is started.
The side lights and the dipped head-
lamps come on automatically, without
any action on the part of the driver, if a
low level of exterior light is detected or
if the wipers are switched on.
When the light returns to a suffi cient
level or the wipers are switched off, the
lights are switched off automatically.
The sensor is located at the base of the
windscreen.
Contact a CITROËN dealer to adjust
the sensitivity of the sensor.
The sensitivity of the automatic light-
ing can be confi gured via the colour
display “Equipment” menu.

DIRECTION INDICATORS
HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
HORN

 Lower the lights stalk when moving
to the left (position 1 ).

 Raise the lights stalk when moving
to the right (position 1 ).
The indicator light on the instrument
panel fl ashes.
As a safety precaution in a
traffi c jam, switch on the haz-
ard warning lights when you
are the last in the queue.

 Press button A , the direction indicators
fl ash.
They can operate with the ignition off.
 Press one of the spokes of the
steering wheel.
Selection of the left or right direction in-
dicators to signal a change of direction
of the vehicle.
The “motorway” function
System for indicating a change of lane
on a motorway.
Press up or down once (positions
2 ),
without passing the point of resistance;
the corresponding direction indicators
will fl ash three times.
A visual warning by means of the direc-
tion indicators to alert other road users
to a vehicle breakdown, towing or ac-
cident. Audible warning to alert other road
users to an imminent danger.
Certain direction indicator functions
can be confi gured via the colour dis-
play “Equipment” menu.

BRAKING ASSISTANCE
SYSTEMS
Group of supplementary systems which
help you to obtain optimum braking
in complete safety in emergency
situations:
- the anti-lock braking system (ABS),
- the electronic brake force distribution (EBFD).
When braking in an emergen-
cy, press very fi rmly without re-
leasing the pressure. The two warning lights comes on at
the same time and the two warnings
are displayed alternately on the
instrument panel display.
When replacing wheels (tyres and
rims), ensure that they conform to the
manufacturer’s recommendations.
Operating fault
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by the indication on the
instrument panel display, it indicates
a malfunction of the anti-lock braking
system which could result in a loss of
control of the vehicle when braking.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
If these two warning lights come
on, linked with the warnings on the
instrument panel display, they indicate a
malfunction of the electronic brake force
distribution which could result in a loss of
control of the vehicle on braking.

You MUST stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Anti-lock braking system
and electronic brake force
distribution
Linked systems which improve the sta-
bility and manoeuvrability of your vehi-
cle when braking, in particular on poor
or slippery surfaces. The warning light comes on for a few
seconds when the ignition is switched
on (ON position). If it does not switch
off or does not come on, contact a
CITROËN dealer.
When the vehicle is stationary
When the vehicle is moving
If this warning light comes
on continuously it indicates
a malfunction of the anti-lock
braking system which could
result in a loss of control of the vehicle
on braking.

You MUST stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Activation
The anti-lock braking system is active if
the vehicle speed is higher than 6 mph
(10 km/h). It is deactivated when the ve-
hicle speed falls below 3 mph (5 km/h).
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when there
is a risk of wheel lock.
Normal operation of the ABS may make
itself felt by slight vibration of the brake
pedal.

CHANGING A BULB
Handle the bulbs using a dry
cloth.

Do not clean the headlamps
using a dry or abrasive cloth, or us-
ing detergent or solvent products,

use a sponge and soapy water. In certain climatic conditions
(low temperature, humidity),

presence of condensation on the
inside of the headlamp glass is
normal ; it disappears a few minutes
after the lights are switched on.
Front lights

Refer to the appropriate procedure to
change the corresponding bulb.
1. Direction indicators
(PY21W - 21 W).
2. Dipped headlamps (H11 - 55 W) or xenon bulb (D2S - 35 W).
3. Side lights (W5W - 5 W).
4. Main beam headlamps (H7 - 55 W).
5. Front fog lamps (H11 - 55 W). WARNING: RISK OF
ELECTROCUTION
Xenon bulbs must be replaced by a
CITROËN dealer.
Operating procedure for replacing a
faulty bulb with a new bulb.
