Under-inflation detection
The under-inflation detection system d
oes not replace the need for vigilance
o
n the part of the driver.
This
system does not avoid the need to
c
heck the tyre pressures (including the
s
pare wheel) every month as well as
b
efore a long journey.
Driving
with under-inflated tyres impairs
r
oad holding, extends braking distances
a
nd causes premature tyre wear,
p
articularly under arduous condition
(
high loading, high speed, long journey).The
inflation pressures defined for y
our vehicle can be found on the tyre
p
ressure label.
For
more information on the
i
dentification markings, refer to the
c
orresponding
s
ection.
Tyre
pressures should be checked
w
hen the tyres are "cold" (vehicle
s
topped for 1 hour or after a journey of
l
ess than 6 miles (10 km) at moderate
s
peeds).
Other wise
(when hot), add 0.3 bar to
t
he pressures shown on the label.
Driving
with under-inflated tyres
i
ncreases fuel consumption.
System
which
automatically
checks
the
pressures
of
the
tyres while driving.
The
system
monitors
the
pressures
in
the
four
t
yres,
once
the
vehicle
is
moving.
It
compares
the
information
given
by
the
four
w
heel
speed
sensors
with
reference values,
which must be reinitialised ever y time the
tyre pressures are adjusted or a wheel
changed .
The
system
triggers
an
alert
as
soon
as
it
d
etects
a
drop
in
the
inflation
pressure
of
one
o
r
more
tyres.

Before reinitialising the system, ensure that the pressures of the four tyres are
correct
for the use of the vehicle and in
l
ine with the recommendations on the
t
yre pressure label.
The
under-inflation alert can only be
r
elied on if the reinitialisation of the
s
ystem has done with the pressures in
t
he four tyres correctly adjusted.
The
under-inflation detection system
d
oes not give a warning if a pressure is
i
ncorrect at the time of reinitialisation.
The
loss
of
pressure
detected
does
not
a
lways
cause
visible
bulging
of
the
tyre.
D
o
not
satisfy
yourself
with
just
a
visual
c
heck. The
alert
is
maintained
until
the
system
i
s
r
einitialised.

This is given by fixed illumination of t his warning lamp, accompanied by

Reinitialisation
It is necessary to reinitialise the system every time one or more tyre pressures are adjusted,

nd after changing one or more wheels.

Reinitialisation of the system must be done with the ignition on and the vehicle stationary:

The
new pressure settings registered are

Operating fault
The under-inflation alert is only d ependable if the system has been
r
einitialised with all four tyres inflated to
t
he correct pressures.
Snow chains
The system does not have to be reinitialised after fitting or removing
sn
ow
c
hains. Before
doing anything to the system,
t
he pressures of the four tyres must be
c
hecked and the system reinitialised.
The
flashing and then fixed illumination of the
u
nder-inflation
w
arning
lam
p
a
ccompanied
b
y illumination of the Service warning lamp
i
ndicates a fault with the system.
In this case, under-inflation monitoring of the t
yres is no longer assured.

Braking assistance systems

Linked systems which improve the stability and manoeuvrability of your vehicle when braking,

n particular on poor or slippery sur faces.
Activation
The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically when there is a risk of
w
heel lock.
Normal
operation of the ABS may make itself
f
elt by slight vibration of the brake pedal.
Operating fault
Emergency braking assistance
System which, in an emergency, enables you to obtain the optimum braking pressure more
q
uickly, thus reducing the stopping distance.
When
braking in an emergency, press
f
irmly without releasing the pressure.
When
braking
in
an
emergency,
press
v
ery
firmly
without
releasing
the
p
ressure. When
replacing
wheels
(tyres
and
r
ims),
ensure
that
they
conform
to
the
ma
nufacturer's
r
ecommendations.
If
this
warning
lamp
comes
on,
a
ccompanied
by
an
audible
signal
a
nd
a
message
in
the
screen,
it
i
ndicates
a
malfunction
of
the
anti-lock
braking
s
ystem
which
could
result
in
loss
of
control
of
t
he
vehicle
when
braking.
If
this
warning
lamp
comes
on,
t
ogether
with
the
STOP
and
ABS
warning
lamps,
accompanied
by
an
a
udible
signal
and
a
message
in
the
screen,
it
i
ndicates
a
malfunction
of
the
electronic
brake
f
orce
distribution
which
could
result
in
loss
of
c
ontrol
of
the
vehicle
when
braking.
You must stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
In
either
case,
contact
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
q
ualified
w
orkshop.
Activation
It is triggered by the speed at which the brake p edal is pressed.
The
effect of this is a reduction in the
r
esistance of the pedal and an increase in
b
raking
e
fficiency.
Coasting
with
the
engine
off
results
in
a
l
oss
of
power
assistance
for
braking.

Anti-slip regulation (ASR)
and electronic stability
programme (ESP)
The anti-slip regulation (also known as Traction Control) optimises traction to prevent skidding o
f the wheels, by acting on the brakes of the
d
riving wheels and on the engine.
The
electronic stability programme acts on the
b
rake of one or more wheels and on the engine
t
o keep the vehicle on the trajectory required by
t
he driver, within the limits of the laws of physics.
This
is indicated by flashing of this
w
arning lamp in the instrument panel. The
ASR /ESP systems offer
e
xceptional safety in normal driving, but
t
his should not encourage the driver to
t
ake extra risks or drive at high speed.
The
correct functioning of these
s
ystems depends on observation of
t
he
ma
nufacturer's
r
ecommendations
r
egarding the wheels (tyres and rims),
t
he braking components, the electronic
c
omponents and the assembly
a
nd repair procedures used by the
C
ITROËN dealer network.
After
an impact, have these systems
c
hecked by a CITROËN dealer or a
q
ualified
w
orkshop.
Operating fault
Illumination of the warning lamp, accompanid by a message in the
s
creen indicates a malfunction of
t
hese systems.
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated automatically every time the ignition is switched of, or from

0 mph (50 km/h).

The
symbol going off in the instrument panel

ndicates the reactivation of the ASR and
ES
P systems.
Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (starting a vehicle which is bogged down, stuck in snow, on soft

round, ...), it may be advisable to deactivate
t
he ASR and ESP systems, so that the wheels
c
an move freely and regain grip.
Trajectory control systems
Activation
These systems are activated automatically each time the vehicle is started.
They
come into operation in the event of a grip
o
r
t
rajectory
pro
blem. The
display of this symbol indicates
t
hat the ASR and ESP systems are
d
eactivated.

Seat belts
Front seat belts
Fastening

Unfastening
F Press the red button on the buckle.
F G uide the seat belt as it is reeled in.
The
front
seat
belts
are
fitted
with
a
p
retensioning
and
force
limiting
system.
This
system
improves
safety
in
the
front
s
eats
in
the
event
of
a
front
or
side
impact.
D
epending
on
the
severity
of
the
impact,
the
p
retensioning
system
instantly
tightens
the
seat
b
elts
against
the
body
of
the
occupants.
The
pretensioning
seat
belts
are
active
when
t
he
ignition
is
on.
The
force
limiter
reduces
the
pressure
of
the
s
eat belt on the chest of the occupant, so
improving
their
protection. When
the ignition is switched on,
t
his warning lamp comes on in the
i
nstrument panel, if the driver has not
f
astened their seat belt.
Seat belt not fastened /
unfastened warning lamp
From approximately 12 mph (20 km/h) t
his warning lamp flashes for two minutes
a
ccompanied by an audible signal of increasing
v
olume. Once these two minutes have elapsed,
t
his warning lamp remains on until the driver
f
astens their seat belt.
This
warning lamp also comes on in the
i
nstrument panel if the driver and/or front
p
assenger unfastens their seat belt while
d
riving.

Rear seat belts
The rear seats are each fitted with a three-point inertia reel seat belt.
Depending
on version, the centre rear seat is
f
itted with a seat belt with or without reel, and
h
as three or two-point anchorages.
Fastening
