Having fi rstly folded the third-row seats.- Pull on control D to unlock the required seat.
TO RETURN THE SEATS TO
THE UPRIGHT POSITION
Return the rigid plates of the second-row seats to their initial (upright) posi-tion and lock them in position (Grand C4 Picasso).
Raise the backrest and push it back-wards until it locks in position.
RIGID PLATE (Grand C4 Picasso)
A rigid plate is attached to each second-row seat backrest.
To unlock / lock the rigid plate :
- Slide latch A of the plate down-wards, to unlock it.
- Return the plate to the upright position, then slide latch A up-wards to lock it.

To immobilise the vehicle
With the vehicle stationary, to apply the parking brake whether the engine is running or off, pull on control A.
The application of the park-ing brake is confi rmed by :
- the lighting of the warning lamp on control A and of warning lamp P on the instrument panel,
- the display of a message “park-ing brake applied” on the multi-function display.
When the driver’s door is opened with the engine running, a beep is heard and a message displayed if the parking brake has not been applied.
MAXIMUM APPLICATION
If necessary, you can utilise maxi-mum application of the parking brake. It is obtained by means of a long pull on control A, until you see the message “parking brake applied” and a beep is heard.
Maximum application is indispensable :
- in the case of a vehicle towing a caravan or a trailer, if the au-tomatic functions are activated but you are applying the parking brake manually,
- when the gradient you are parked on is variable in its effect (e.g. on a ferry, in a lorry, during towing).
Note :
- In the case of towing, a loaded vehicle or parking on a gradient, turn the front wheels towards the pavement and engage a gear when you park.
- After a maximum application, the release time will be longer.
PARTICULAR SITUATIONS
In certain situations (starting the engine ...), the parking brake can automatically alter its force. This is normal operation.
To advance your vehicle a few centimetres without starting the engine, but with the ignition on, press on the brake pedal and re-lease the parking brake by pull-ing then releasing control A. The full release of the parking brake is confi rmed by the extinction of warning lamp P (red) on the instru-ment panel and the display of a message “parking brake released” on the multifunction display.
If the parking brake malfunctionswhile applied or if the battery runs fl at, an emergency release is always possible (see paragraph “Emergency unlocking”).

vehicle’s towing capability and with the procedures necessary for installing a safety item of this kind.
It is essential to install a CITROËN approved elec-tronic unit when having a towbar fi tted, in order to prevent any risk of malfunction or damage (risk of fi re).
The fi tting of a caravan mirror on the wing is prohib-ited.

Adjust the headlamp height in accordance with the vehicle load.Check the tyre pressures and the electrical signal of the towed vehicle.Respect the authorised load capacities. For maximum loads that can be distributed on the roof bars: See Chapter: “General information”.
Bicycle carrier
Do not attach a bicycle carrier with straps to the follow-ing vehicle versions:
- C4 Picasso 5-seater (all versions) ;
- C4 Picasso 7-seater version with opening rear screen.
Roof bars and roof boxes
The design of your vehicle, for your safety and to avoid damage to the roof and tailgate, requires the use of roof bars and roof boxes that are tested and approved by AUTOMOBILES CITROËN.
DIMENSIONS (in millimetres)
A : 99.04 mm C : 96.84 mm
B : 931.60 mm D : 820.53 mm
Recommendations
- Distribute your load evenly, avoiding overloading on one side.
- Arrange the heaviest part of the load as close as possible to the roof.
- Anchor the load securely and signal if any part of it is overhanging.
- Drive gently, as the vehicle will be more liable to the effects of side winds (vehicle stability may be altered).
- Remove the roof bars as soon as they are no long-er needed.

TOOLS
The tools are to be found either in the compartment under the second-row passenger footwells or in the well under the third-row seats (de-pending on equipment).
Switch on your hazard warning lights, ensure that any passengers leave the vehicle and fi nd a safe place to wait away from traffi c (e.g. behind crash barriers or on a grass verge).
Never get underneath the vehicle if it is supported only by the jack ; use a stand.
It is essential not to exceed a speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) on your spare wheel.
Have the original wheel repaired and refi tted as soon as possible.
5- Vehicle jack with handle
6- Removable towing eye
7- Two chocks, provided for chan ging a wheel or for other uses on the vehicle (such as unlocking the electric parking brake)

ACCESSING THE SPARE WHEEL
1. Move the third-row seat, right-hand side (7 seater model).
2. Retrieve the extension that is attached to the rear of the seat well.
3. Engage the extension on the pinion located under the carpet in the seat well.
4. Using the wheel brace on the extension to turn the pinion clockwise, release the cable to lower the spare wheel to the ground.
5. Remove the wheel from under the vehicle, disengag-ing the linking plate in the centre of the wheel.
STOWING THE AFFECTED WHEEL
1. It is essential to direct the valve upwards.
2. Pass the linking plate through the centre of the wheel (fi rst removing the central trim on certain al-loy wheels).
3. Turn the pinion anti-clockwise to draw in the ca-ble. First the pinion will turn idly, then the cable will tighten to raise the wheel. Check that the wheel is tight against the vehicle fl oor and not interfering with other nearby components (e.g. the exhaust).
4. Stow the tools and chocks.
With the affected road wheel now under the vehicle fl oor , the vehicle has reduced ground clearance, so take extra care when reversing or driving on uneven surfaces, inclu ding kerbs.
Retrieval of the spare wheel and stowage of the affected road wheel are operations that should be done with the vehicle supported on its wheels, not by the jack.
Note : The pinion to release the spare wheel is located under the boot carpet, on the right hand side in the wheel well for the Grand C4 Picasso and on the left hand side for the C4 Picasso.

VITowing with all wheels on the ground
Towing ring fi xings are placed at the front and at the rear of the vehicle.
To access them:
- at the front : push at top left, then pull on right.
- at the rear : push at bottom, then pull on top.
The cover remains attached to the bumper by means of a tab, so t hat it cannot become lost.
The ignition key should be in position “M” so as to retain steering.
Use a bar with hooks to attach on the towing rings.
If the engine is not running, the steering and braking systems will not be power-assisted.
If towing another vehicle, the latter should be free-wheeling (that is, gearbox in neutral). Failing to respect this point may damage some braking components and lead to the failure of the braking assistance func-tion when the engine is next started.
Removable towing ring
The towing ring is detachable and can be fi tted either at the front or at the rear of the vehicle. It is stowed with the tools either in the storage fl ap under the second-row footwell or (according to equipment) in the boot well.

Advice
In exceptional circumstances, it is permitted to tow the vehicle at low speed over a short distance(depending on local legislation in force).
In all other cases, the vehicle must be transported by a trans-porter.
CAUTION - TOWING A VEHICLE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Put the selector lever in posi-tion N (neutral).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FITTING THE SCREEN
Clip the component on the ribs of the front bumper.
Before fi ttingAfter fi tting
The screen is supplied with the vehicle (depending on country).
It should only be fi tted during the winter period.
Do not forget to remove it :
- if the external temperature exceeds 10°C,
- during towing,
- at speeds over 120 km/h (75 mph).
