12 V battery
The battery is located under the bonnet.
For access to the (+) terminal: )release the bonnet using the interior lever,
then the exterior safety catch, )raise the bonnet and secure it with its stay, )lift the plastic cover for access to the (+)
terminal.
Access to the battery

Procedure for star ting the engine using another battery or charging a discharged battery.
The presence of this label, in particular with the Stop & Start system, indicatesthe use of a 12 V lead-acid battery withspecial technology and specification;the involvement of a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop is essential when replacing or disconnecting the battery.

After refitting the battery, the Stop & Start system will only be active after acontinuous period of immobilisation of thevehicle, a period which depends on theclimatic conditions and the state of chargeof the battery (up to about 8 hours).
When your vehicle's battery is discharged, the engine can be star ted using a slave battery (external or on another vehicle) and jump leadcables.
Starting using another
batter
y
) Connect the red cable to the positive
terminal (+) of the flat battery A, then to the
positive terminal (+) of the slave battery B.) Connect one end of the green or blackcable to the negative terminal (-) of the slave battery B
(or ear th point on the other
vehicle).) Connect the other end of the green or black cable to the ear th point Con the broken
down vehicle (or on the engine mounting). ) Start the engine of the vehicle with the good battery and leave it running for a few minutes.

First check that the slave battery has a nominal voltage of 12 V and a capacity at least equal to that of the discharged battery. Do not try to star t the engine byconnecting a battery charger.
Do not disconnect the (+) terminal when the engine is running.
Before doing any work
Immobilise the vehicle: apply the parking brake, put the gearbox in neutral, then switch off the ignition.Check that all electrical equipment isswitched off.

Practical information
The batteries contain harmful substancessuch as sulphuric acid and lead. They
must be disposed of in accordance with regulations and must not, in anycircumstances, be discarded with household waste. Take used remote control batteries and vehicle batteries to a special collection point.

Protect your eyes and face before handling the battery.
All operations on the battery must becarried out in a well ventilated area andaway from naked flames and sourcesof sparks, so as to avoid the risk of explosion or fire.
Do not try to charge a frozen battery;the battery must first be thawed out to avoid the risk of explosion. If the batteryhas been frozen, before charging have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop who will check that the internal components have not beendamaged and the casing is not cracked, which could cause a leak of toxic and corrosive acid.
Do not reverse the polarity and use onlya 12 V charger.
Do not disconnect the terminals whilethe engine is running. Do not charge the batteries withoutdisconnecting the terminals first.
Wash your hands afterwards.
It is advisable to disconnect the battery if the vehicle is to be left unused for more than one month.
Do not push the vehicle to star t the engine if you have an electronicgearbox or automatic gearbox.

Charging the battery using
a battery charger
)Disconnect the battery from the vehicle.)Follow the instructions for use provided by
the manufacturer of the charger.)Connect the battery starting with thenegative terminal (-).)Check that the terminals and connectorsare clean. If they are covered with sulphate (whitish or greenish deposit), remove themand clean them.

The Stop & Start battery does not haveto be disconnected for charging.

Towing the vehicle
The towing eye is installed in the boot under
the floor.
To gain access to it:)open the boot, )lift the floor and remove it,)remove the towing eye from its housing.

General recommendations
Observe the legislation in force in your country. Ensure that the weight of the towing vehicle is higher than that of the towed vehicle. The person at the wheel of the towed vehicle must have a valid driving licence. When towing a vehicle with all four wheels on the ground, always use an approved towing bar; rope and straps are prohibited. When towing a vehicle with the engine off, there is no longer any power assistance for braking or steering. In the following cases, you must always call on a professional recovery service: - vehicle broken down on a motor way or fast road, - 4 wheel drive vehicle, - when it is not possible to put the gearbox into neutral, unlock the steering, or release theparking brake, - towing with only two wheels on the ground, - where there is no approved towing bar available...

To w i ng your vehicle
)Place the gear lever in neutral(position N
on an electronic or automatic gearbox). Failure to observe this instructioncould result in damage to certain components (braking, transmission...) and the absenceof braking assistance the next time the engine is star ted.
)

parking brake.
) Switch on the hazard warning lamps onboth vehicles.

Checks
Brake wear depends on the styleof driving, par ticularly in the case of vehicles used in town, over shor t
distances. It may be necessary to
have the condition of the brakes checked, even between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a drop in
the brake fluid level indicates that the brake
pads are worn.

Brake pads
For information on checking brake
disc wear, contact a CITROËN dealer
or a qualified workshop.

Brake disc wear

Only use products recommended by CITROËN or products of equivalent quality and specification.

In order to optimise the operation of units as important as those in the braking system, CITROËN selects and offers very specific products.
After washing the vehicle, dampness,or in wintry conditions, ice can form on the brake discs and pads: braking efficiency may be reduced. Make lightbrake applications to dry and defrost the brakes.

Electric parking brake

For more information, refer to the "Electric parking brake - Operating faults" section. This s
ystem does not require any routine servicing. However, in theevent of a problem, have the systemchecked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
Manual gearbox

The gearbox does not require anymaintenance (no oil change).
Refer to the maintenance and
warranty guide for the details of
the level checking inter val for thiscomponent.
6-speed electronic gearbox
The gearbox does not require anymaintenance (no oil change).
Refer to the maintenance and
warranty guide for details of the checking interval for this component.
Automatic gearbox

The gearbox does not require anymaintenance (no oil change).
Refer to the maintenance and
warranty guide for details of the levelchecking interval for this component.
To avoid damaging the electrical units, the use of a high pressure washer in the engine compar tment is strictlyprohibited.
