Turn the system on:

Satellite radio receives signals f rom
two satellites to produce clear, high-
quality digital reception. It of f ers
many channels in several categories.
Along with a large selection of
dif f erent types of music, satellite
radio also allows you to view channel
and category selections in the audio
display.
The XM satellites are in orbit over
the equator; therefore, objects south
of the vehicle may cause satellite
reception interruptions. To help
compensate f or this, ground-based
repeaters are placed in major
metropolitan areas. Satellite signals
aremorelikelytobeblockedbytall
buildings and mountains the f arther
north you travel f rom the equator.

Depending on where you drive, you
may experience reception problems.
Interf erence can be caused by any of
these conditions:Driving on the south side of an
east/west mountain road with a
mountain on the south side of the
road.
Driving on the north side of a
large commercial truck on an
east/west road
Driving in the tunnels If your XM Radio service has expired
or you purchased your vehicle f rom
a previous owner, you can listen to a
sampling of the broadcasts available
on XM Satellite Radio. With the
ignition switch in the ACCESSORY
(I) or ON (II) position, push the
PWR/VOL knob to turn on the audio
system and press the CD/SAT
button. A variety of music types and
styles will play.
There may be other geographic
situations that could af f ect satellite
radio reception. Driving on a single lane road
alongside dense trees taller than
50 f t. (15 m) to the south of you
Driving on the lower level of a
multi-tiered road
Driving on a road beside a vertical
wall, steep clif f or hill to the south

If you decide to purchase XM
Satellite Radio service, contact XM
Radio at www.xmradio.com, or at
1-800-852-9696. You will need to give
them your radio I.D. number and
your credit card number.
To get your XM Satellite radio ID
number:Af ter you have registered with XM
Radio, keep your audio system in the
SAT Radio mode while you await
activation. This should take about 30
minutes.
While awaiting activation, make sure
your vehicle remains in an open area
with good reception. Once your
audio system is activated, ‘‘category’’
or ‘‘CH’’ will appear in the display
and you will be able to listen to XM
Radio broadcasts. XM Radio will
continue to send an activation signal
to your vehicle for at least 12 hours
from activation request. If the
service has not been activated after
36 hours, contact XM Radio.
Turn the TUNE knob or press the
TUNE bar until ‘‘0’’ appears in the
display. Your ID number will appear
in the display.

To continuously replay
a track, press and release the RPT
button. You will see RPT in the
display. Press the RPT button again
to turn it off. When you touch
this icon on the audio display or
press the SCAN button, you will get
a10secondsamplingof eachtrack
on the current CD. You will see
TRACK SCAN highlighted on the
audioscreenandSCANintheupper
display. Press the icon or button
again to get out of the system.
When you touch
the TRACK RPT icon, the system
continuously plays the same track.
You will see TRACK RPT
highlighted on the audio screen and
RPT in the upper display. Press the icon again to get out of track repeat.
When you touch the
DISC SCAN icon on the audio
display, the system gives you a 10
second sampling of the f irst track on
each disc in the in-dash CD changer.
You will see DISC SCAN highlighted
on the audio screen and D-SCAN in
the upper display. Touch the icon
again to get out of the system. When you touch the
DISC RPT icon on the audio display,
the system continuously replays the
current CD. You will see DISC RPT
highlighted on the audio screen and
D-RPT in the upper display. Touch
the icon to turn the feature off.
When you touch the
RANDOM icon on the audio display,
the system plays the tracks on the
current CD in random order. You
will see RANDOM highlighted on
the audio screen and RDM in the
upper display. To turn this f eature
of f , touch RANDOM again or select
a dif f erent disc icon.
To continuously
replay the current disc, press and
hold the RPT button. You will see
D-RPT in the display. Press the RPT
button again to turn it off.
Press and release the
RDM button to play the tracks in
random order. You will see RDM in
the display. Press the RDM button
again to return to normal play.
To use the controls, press the
AUDIO DISPLAY button, the control
icons will appear on the screen.

When using CD-R discs, use only
high quality CDs labeled f or audio
use.
When recording a CD-R, the
recording must be closed f or it to
be used in CD players.
CD-RW discs will not work in this
unit.
Play only standard round CDs.
Odd-shaped CDs may jam in the
driveorcauseotherproblems.
Handle your CDs properly to
prevent damage and skipping.Never try to insert f oreign objects in
the CD player or the magazine.
AnewCDmayberoughonthe
inner and outer edges. The small
plastic pieces causing this roughness
can f lake of f and f all on the re-
cording surf ace of the CD, causing
skipping or other problems. Remove
these pieces by rubbing the inner
and outer edges with the side of a
pencil or pen.
To clean a CD, use a clean sof t cloth.
Wipe across the CD f rom the center
to the outside edge.
When a CD is not being played, store
it in its case to protect it f rom dust
and other contamination. To prevent
warpage, keep CDs out of direct
sunlight and extreme heat.
Handle a CD by its edges; never
touch either surf ace. Do not place
stabilizer rings or labels on the CD.
These, along with contamination
f rom f ingerprints, liquids, and f elt-tip
pens, can cause the CD to not play
properly, or possibly jam in the drive.

ÛOn vehicles with navigation system,
first push the AUDIO DISPLAY
button bef ore selecting any of the
audio icons on the audio screen.
Dolby noise reduction turns on
when you insert a tape. The
indicator will light in the
display. If the tape was not recorded
in Dolby, turn it of f by pressing the
Preset 4 (NR) side of the preset bar
or touching the NR icon. Dolby
remains of f until you press the
preset bar or the icon again. To remove the tape, press the
EJECT button on the cassette player.
If you want to turn the player of f ,
press the PWR/VOL knob or turn
of f the ignition. The tape will remain
in the drive. When you turn the
system back on, the tape will be in
pause mode. Press the Preset 3
(PLAY/PROG) side of the preset
barortouchthePLAY/PROGicon
on vehicles navigation system.
To switch to the radio or CD player
while a tape is playing, press the
AM/FM or CD/AUX button (CD/
SAT button on vehicles with
navigation system). To change back
to the tape player, push the CD/AUX
or CD/SAT button.
The ignition switch must be in
ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II). Make
sure the open side of the tape is
facing right, then insert the tape
most of the way into the slot. The
system will pull the tape in the rest
of the way, and begin to play it.
The tape direction indicator will light
to show you which side of the tape is
playing. The indicates the side
youinsertedupwardisnowplaying.
If you want to play the other side,
press the Preset 3 (PLAY/PROG)
side of the preset bar or touch the
PLAY/PROG icon on vehicles with
navigation system. When the player
reaches the end of the tape, it will
automatically reverse direction and
play the other side.
