When pushing down on the rear por-tion (2) of the switch, all vehicle doors
will unlock.
If the key is in the ignition switch and front door is opened, the doors will not
lock even though the front portion (1)
of central door lock switch is pressed.
If the smart key is in the vehicle and a door is opened, the doors will not lock
even though the front portion(1) of cen-
tral door lock switch is pressed.

If the doors are locked with the remote
key or smart key, the doors cannot be
unlocked with the central door lock/
unlock switch. (if equipped)
WARNING - Doors
The doors should always be fully closed and locked while the vehi-
cle is in motion to prevent acci-
dental opening of the door.
Locked doors will also discour-
age potential intruders when the
vehicle stops or slows.
Be careful when opening doors and watch for vehicles, motorcy-
cles, bicycles or pedestrians
approaching the vehicle in the
path of the door. Opening a door
when something is approaching
can cause damage or injury.WARNING - Unlocked
vehicles
Leaving your vehicle unlocked can
invite theft or possible harm to you
or others from someone hiding in
your vehicle while you are gone.
Always remove the ignition key,
engage the parking brake, close all
windows and lock all doors when
leaving your vehicle unattended.
WARNING - Unattended
children
An enclosed vehicle can become
extremely hot, causing death or
severe injury to unattended chil-dren or animals who cannot escape
the vehicle. Furthermore, children
might operate features of the vehi-
cle that could injure them, or they
could encounter other harm, possi-
bly from someone gaining entry to
the vehicle. Never leave children or
animals unattended in your vehicle.

Impact sensing door unlock sys- tem (if equipped)
All doors will automatically unlock when
an impact causes the air bags to deploy.
Speed sensing door lock system (if equipped)
All doors will be automatically locked
after the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h.And all doors will be automatically
unlocked when you turn the engine off or
when you remove the ignition key. (ifequipped)
Child-protector rear door lock
The child safety lock is provided to help
prevent children from accidentally open-
ing the rear doors from inside the vehicle.
The rear door safety locks should be used
whenever children are in the vehicle.
1. Open the rear door.
2. Insert a key (or screwdriver) into the
hole (1) and turn it to the lock position
located on the rear edge of the door.
When the child safety lock is in the lockposition, the rear door will not open
even though the inner door handle ispulled. 3. Close the rear door.
To open the rear door, pull the outside door handle (2).
Even though the doors may be unlocked,
the rear door will not open by pulling theinner door handle until the rear door child
safety lock is unlocked.
WARNING
- Rear door
locks
If children accidentally open the
rear doors while the vehicle is in
motion, they could fall out and be
severely injured or killed. To pre-
vent children from opening the rear
doors from the inside, the rear door
safety locks should be used when-
ever children are in the vehicle.

TRUNK
Opening the trunk
With the key
To open the trunk, insert the key and turn
it clockwise.
With the transmitter or smart key
To open the trunk, press the trunk unlock button for more than 1 second
on the transmitter.
To open the trunk, press the trunk unlock button for more than 1 second
on the smart key or press the button
(1) on the trunk handle with the smart
key in your possession.
With the trunk lid release lever
To open the trunk from inside the vehicle,
pull up the trunk lid release lever.
Once the trunk is opened and then
closed, the trunk is locked automatically.
✽✽ NOTICE
In cold and wet climates, door lock and
door mechanisms may not work proper-
ly due to freezing conditions.
CAUTION
Make certain that you close the trunk before driving your vehicle. Possible damage may occur to thetrunk lift cylinders and attached
hardware if the trunk is not closedprior to driving.
WARNING
The trunk swings upward. Make sure no objects or people are near
the rear of the vehicle when open-ing the trunk.

TAILGATE
Opening the tailgate
The tailgate is locked or unlocked by turning the key to the "Lock" or
"Unlock" position. (if equipped)
The tailgate is locked or unlocked when all doors are locked or unlocked
with the remote key, smart key or cen-
tral door lock/unlock switch.
If unlocked, the tailgate can be opened by pulling up the handle.
✽✽ NOTICE
The central door lock system will oper-
ate only when all doors and tailgate are
closed.

In cold and wet climates, door lock and
door mechanisms may not work proper-
ly due to freezing conditions.
Closing the tailgate
To close the tailgate, lower and push
down the tailgate firmly. Make sure thatthe tailgate is securely latched.
WARNING - Exhaust fumes
If you drive with the tailgate
opened, you will draw dangerous
exhaust fumes into your vehicle
which can cause serious injury or
death to vehicle occupants.
If you must drive with the tailgate
opened, keep the air vents and all
windows open so that additional
outside air comes into the vehicle.
WARNING - Rear cargo area
Occupants should never ride in the
rear cargo area where no restraints
are available. To avoid injury in the
event of an accident or sudden
stops, occupants should always be
properly restrained.
WARNING
Make sure no objects or people are
near the rear of the vehicle when
opening the tailgate.
CAUTION
Make certain that you close the tail- gate before driving your vehicle.Possible damage may occur to thetailgate lift cylinders and attaching hardware if the tailgate is not
closed prior to driving.

Power windows
The ignition switch must be in the ON posi-
tion for power windows to operate. Each
door has a power window switch that con-
trols the door’s window. The driver has a
power window lock button which can block
the operation of rear passenger windows.
The power windows can be operated for
approximately 30 seconds after the igni-
tion key is removed or turned to the ACC
or LOCK position. However, if the front
doors are opened, the power windows
cannot be operated even within the 30
seconds period.
Window opening and closing
(if equipped)
The driver’s door has a master power
window switch that controls all the win-
dows in the vehicle.
To open or close a window, press down
or pull up the front portion of the corre-
sponding switch to the first detent posi-tion (5).
Auto down window (if equipped)(Driver’s window)
Pressing the power window switch
momentarily to the second detent posi-
tion (6) completely lowers the driver’s win-
dow even when the switch is released. To
stop the window at the desired position
while the window is in operation, pull up
and release the switch to the opposite
direction of the window movement.

To raise or lower the window, turn the
window regulator handle clockwise or
counterclockwise.

When opening or closing the win-
dows, make sure your passenger's
arms, hands and body are safely
out of the way.

NEVER leave the ignition key in the vehicle.
NEVER leave any child unattend- ed in the vehicle. Even very
young children may inadvertently
cause the vehicle to move, entan-
gle themselves in the windows,or otherwise injure themselves or
others.
Always double check to make sure all arms, hands, head and other
obstructions are safely out of the
way before closing a window.
Do not allow children to play with the power windows. Keep the dri-
ver’s door power window lock
button in the LOCK position
(pressed). Serious injury can
result from unintentional window
operation by the child.
Do not extend face or arms out- side the window while driving.

Immobilizer indicator
(if equipped)
Without smart key system This indicator illuminates when the
immobilizer key is inserted and turned to
the ON position to start the engine. At
this time, you can start the engine. The
light goes off after the engine runs. If this
light blinks when the ignition switch is in
the ON position before starting the
engine, we recommend that the system
be checked by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
With smart key system
If any of the following occurs in a vehicle
equipped with the smart key, the immobi-
lizer indicator illuminates blinks or goes
off.
When the smart key is in the vehicle, if the engine start/stop button is in the
ACC or ON position, the indicator will
illuminate for approximately 30 sec-
onds to indicate that you are able to
start the engine. However, when the
smart key is not in the vehicle, if the
engine start/stop button is pressed, the
indicator will blink for a few seconds to
indicate that you are not be able to
start the engine. If the indicator illuminates only for 2
seconds and goes out when the
engine start/stop button is turned to
ON position with the smart key in the
vehicle, have the system checked by
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
When the battery is weak, if the engine start/stop button is pressed, the indica-
tor will blink and you are not able to
start the engine. However, you are able
to start the engine by inserting the
smart key in the smart key holder. Also,
if the smart key system related parts
have a problem, the indicator will blink.
Low fuel level warning
light
This warning light indicates the fuel tank
is nearly empty. When it comes on, you
should add fuel as soon as possible.
Driving with the fuel level warning light on
or with the fuel level below “E” can causethe engine to misfire and damage the
catalytic converter (if equipped).
Malfunction indicator light(MIL) (check engine light)
This indicator is part of the Engine
Control System which monitors various
emission control system components. If
this indicator illuminates while driving, itindicates that a potential malfunction has
been detected somewhere in the emis-sion control system. This indicator will also illuminates when
the ignition switch is turned to the ON
position, and will go off in a few seconds
after the engine is started. If it illuminates
while driving, or does not illuminate when
the ignition switch is turned to the ON
position, we recommend that the system
be checked by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
Generally, your vehicle will continue to be
drivable, we recommend that the system
be checked by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.

Key reminder warning chime
(if equipped)
If the driver’s door is opened while the
ignition key is left in the ignition switch
(ACC or LOCK position), the key
reminder warning chime will sound. This
is to prevent you from locking your keys
in the vehicle. The chime sounds until the
key is removed from the ignition switch or
the driver’s door is closed.
Electric power steering(EPS) system warning light(if equipped)
This indicator light illuminates after the
ignition key is turned to the ON positionand then it will go off when the engine
starts. This light also comes on when the EPS
has malfunctioned. If it comes on while
driving, we recommend that the system
be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
KEY OUT indicator (if equipped)
When the engine start/stop button is in
the ACC or ON position, if any door is
open, the system checks for the smart
key. If the smart key is not in the vehicle,
the indicator will blink, and if all doors are
closed, the chime will also sound for
about 5 seconds. The indicator will go off
while the vehicle is moving. Keep the
smart key in the vehicle.

The hazard warning flasher should be
used whenever you find it necessary to
stop the vehicle in a hazardous location.
When you must make such an emer-
gency stop, always pull off the road as far
as possible.
The hazard warning lights are turned on
by pushing in the hazard button. Both
turn signal lights will blink. The hazard
warning lights will operate even though
the key is not in the ignition switch.
To turn the hazard warning lights off,

Battery saver function (if equipped)
The purpose of this feature is to pre-vent the battery from being dis-
charged. The system automatically
turns off the exterior lights when the
driver removes the ignition key and
opens the driver-side door.
With this feature, the parking lights will turn off automatically if the driver parkson the side of road at night.
If necessary, to keep the lights on
when the ignition key is removed, per-
form the following :
1) Open the driver-side door.
2) Turn the parking lights OFF and ON again using the light switch on the
steering column. Lighting control
The light switch has a Headlight and a
Parking light position.
To operate the lights, turn the knob at the
end of the control lever to one of the fol-
lowing positions:
(1) OFF position
(2) Parking light position
(3) Headlight position
Parking light position ( )
When the light switch is in the parking
light position, the parking(position) light,
license and instrument panel lights will
turn ON.
