FRONT FOG LIGHT SWITCH
SV12016
To turn on the front fog lights, turn the switch to the ªONº
position. The front fog lights come on only when the
headlights are on low beam.
REAR FOG LIGHT SWITCH
SV12017
To turn on the rear fog lights, push the switch. They will
come on when the headlights are turned on.
To turn off the lights, push the switch again. They will go out
when the headlight switch is in the ªOFFº position. After the
rear fog and all other lights are turned off, the rear fog light do
not come on even if you turn on the tail or headlight switch
again.
When the rear fog lights are on, the indicator lights on the upper
side of the rear fog light switch lights up.

WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHERSWITCH

1Interval adjuster 2Washer on
To turn the windshield wipers on, move the lever down
until you reach the desired speed setting.
The ignition key must be in the ªONº position.
There are 3 settings:
ªINTº position: Intermittent operation
ªLOº position: Low speed operation
ªHIº position: High speed operation
Twist the interval adjuster upward to increase the wiping
time interval between sweeps, and downward to decrease
it.
The wiper lever must be in the ªINTº position. For mist wiper operations (a single wipe), pull the lever
toward you and release it.
To make the washer squirt, push the button on the end of
the lever.
For information on adding washer fluid, see ªAdding washer
fluidº on page 386.
Some m
odels: If you push the windshield washer switch with
the headlights on, the headlight cleaner operates once
automatically.
In cold weather, warm the windshield with the defroster before
using the washer. This will help prevent icing, which could
block your vision.
The rear window and outside rear view mirror defogger
automatically turns on when you operate the wipers.
NOTICE
Do not operate the windshield wipers if the windshield is dry. It may scratch the glass.
When waxing your vehicle, make sure that the washer nozzles
do not become blocked. If a nozzle becomes blocked, contact
your Lexus dealer to have the vehicle serviced.
NOTICE
If a nozzle becomes blocked, do not try to clear it with
a pin or other object. The nozzle will be damaged.

HEADLIGHT CLEANER SWITCH

To spray fluid on the headlights, push the switch with the
headlights on.
The ignition key must be in the ªONº position.
Check the fluid level frequently as headlight cleaner uses fluid
a lot. For information on adding washer fluid, see ªAdding
washer fluidº on page 386.
Some models: If you push the windshield washer switch with
the headlights on, the headlight cleaner operates once
automatically.
NOTICE
Do not turn the headlight cleaner on with the washer
fluid tank empty. It may cause the cleaner motor tooverheat.
REAR WINDOW AND OUTSIDE
REAR VIEW MIRROR DEFOGGER,
AND WINDSHIELD WIPER DEICER SWITCH

To turn the electric rear window defogger on, push the
switch.
The ignition key must be in the ªONº position.
The thin heater wires on the inside of the rear window and the
heater panels in the outside rear view mirrors will quickly clear
the surface. Keep your hands off the mirror faces when the
switch is on. An indicator light is on when the defogger is
operating.
Some models: the windshield wiper deicers are optionally
equipped to deice the windshield wiper blades by operating
simultaneously with defogger.

STEERING WHEEL AND MIRRORS

TILT STEERING COLUMN

To change the steering wheel angle, hold the steering
wheel, pull the lock release lever toward you, tilt the
steering wheel to the desired angle and release the lever.
When the steering wheel is in a low position, it will spring up as
you release the lock release lever.
CAUTION
 Do not adjust the steering wheel while the vehicle is
moving. Doing so may cause the driver to mishandle
the vehicle and an accident may occur resulting in
death or injuries.
 After adjusting the steering wheel, try moving it up
and down to make sure it is locked in position.
OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS
SV16010
Adjust the mirror so that you can just see the side of your
vehicle in the mirror.
Be careful when judging the size or distance of any object seen
in the outside rear view mirror on the passenger's side
because it is a convex mirror. Any object seen in a convex
mirror will look smaller and farther away than if seen in a normal
flat mirror.
When you push the rear window and outside rear view mirror
defogger switch or operate the wipers, the heater panels in the
outside rear view mirrors will quickly clear the mirror surface.

Some models: When the inside rear view mirror darkens in
ªAUTOº mode, the outside rear view mirrors also darken to
reduce the reflection of the headlights of the following vehicle.

If manual fan speed control is desired ±

The fan speed can be set to your desired speed by turning the
fan speed control dial. The higher the fan speed is, the more
air is delivered. Turning the dial to ªOFFº turns off the fan.
To remove exterior windshield frost, use the high speed
setting.
If manual switching of air intake is desired ±

The air intake control button is used to switch the air intake
between the OUTSIDE AIR mode and RECIRCULATED AIR
mode.
With the button in the OUTSIDE AIR mode, the OUTSIDE AIR
mode ind
icator light will come on and the system will take fresh
outside air into the vehicle.
If quick circulation of cooled air is desired, push the air intake
control button for RECIRCULATED AIR. The
RECIRCULATED AIR mode indicator light will come on.
For normal use, it is best to keep the air intake control button
set to OUTSIDE AIR mode. If recirculated air is used during
heating, the windows will fog up more easily.
When you adjust the airflow control dial and the fan speed
control dial to ªAUTOº positions in case that the room
temperature is much higher than the set temperature, the air
intake mode will be automatically changed to
RECIRCULATED AIR.
