HomeLink Wireless Control System
WARNINGS
Make sure that the garage door andsecurity device are free fromobstruction when you are programming. Donot program the system with the vehicle inthe garage.
Do not use the system with any garagedoor opener that does not have thesafety stop and reverse feature as requiredby U.S. Federal Safety Standards (thisincludes any garage door openermanufactured before April 1, 1982). A garagedoor opener which cannot detect an object,signaling the door to stop and reverse, doesnot meet current federal safety standards.Using a garage door opener without thesefeatures increases the risk of serious injuryor death.
Note:Make sure you keep the originalremote control transmitter for use in othervehicles as well as for future systemprogramming.
Note:We recommend that upon the sale orlease termination of your vehicle, you erasethe programmed function buttons for securityreasons. See Erasing the Function ButtonCodes later in this section.
Note:You can program a maximum of threedevices. To change or replace any of thethree devices after it has been initiallyprogrammed, you must first erase the currentsettings. See Erasing the Function ButtonCodes.
The universal garage door opener replacesthe common hand-held garage door openerwith a three-button transmitter integratedinto the driver’s sun visor.
The system includes two primary features, agarage door opener and a platform forremote activation of devices within the home.You can program garage doors as well asentry gate operators, security systems, entrydoor locks and home or office lighting.

In-Vehicle Programming
This process is to program your in-vehicleHomeLink function button with yourhand-held transmitter.
Note:The programming steps below assumeyou will be programming HomeLink that wasnot previously programmed. If yourHomeLink was previously programmed, youmay need to erase your HomeLink buttons.See Erasing the Function Button Codes.
Note:Put a new battery in the hand-heldtransmitter. This helps ensure quickertraining and accurate transmission of theradio-frequency signal.

Cargo Management System
The system is located in the floor of thecargo area. Lift the handle to open.
LUGGAGE COVERS
WARNINGS
Make sure that the posts are properlylatched in mounting features. Thecover may cause injury in a sudden stop oraccident if it is not securely installed.
Do not place any objects on the cargoarea shade. They may obstruct yourvision or strike occupants of your vehicle ina sudden stop or crash.
Use the cargo shade to cover items in thecargo area of your vehicle.
Insert the ends of the cargo shade into themounting features located behind the rearseat on the rear trim panels to install thecargo shade.
To operate the cargo shade:
1. Pull the rear edge of the cargo shaderearward.
2.Secure both ends of the support rod intothe retention slots located on the rearquarter trim panels.
ROOF RACKS AND LOAD
CARRIERS
WARNING
When loading the roof racks, werecommend you evenly distribute theload, as well as maintain a low center ofgravity. Loaded vehicles, with higher centersof gravity, may handle differently thanunloaded vehicles. Take extra precautions,such as slower speeds and increasedstopping distance, when driving a heavilyloaded vehicle.

The maximum recommended load is 50 lb(22 kg) for vehicles with a panoramic roof,and 80 lb (36 kg) for vehicles without apanoramic roof. For vehicles with adaptivesuspension, the maximum recommendedload is 80 lb (36 kg), regardless of roof type.Evenly distribute the load on the roof rack.
Note: Never place loads directly on the roofpanel. The intended design of the roof panelis not to directly carry a load.
Make sure that you securely fasten the load. Check the tightness of the load beforedriving and at each fuel stop.
LOAD LIMIT
Vehicle Loading - with and without aTrailer
This section guides you in the properloading of your vehicle, trailer, or both.Keep your loaded vehicle weight withinits design rating capability, with orwithout a trailer. Properly loading yourvehicle provides maximum return ofvehicle design performance. Before youload your vehicle, become familiar withthe following terms for determining yourvehicle’s weight rating, with or withouta trailer, from the vehicle’s Tire andLoading Information label or SafetyCompliance Certification label.

•Driving on flat terrain offers improved fueleconomy as compared to driving on hillyterrain.
•Transmissions give their best fueleconomy when operated in the top cruisegear and with steady pressure on the gaspedal.
•Four-wheel-drive operation (if equipped)is less fuel efficient than two-wheel-driveoperation.
•Close the windows for high-speeddriving.
DRIVING THROUGH WATER
WARNING
Do not drive through flowing or deepwater as you may lose control of yourvehicle.
Note:Driving through standing water cancause vehicle damage.
Note:Engine damage can occur if waterenters the air filter.
Before driving through standing water, checkthe depth. Never drive through water that ishigher than the bottom of the front rockerarea of your vehicle.
When driving through standing water, drivevery slowly and do not stop your vehicle. Your brake performance and traction maybe limited. After driving through water andas soon as it is safe to do so:
•Lightly press the brake pedal to dry thebrakes and to check that they work.
•Check that the horn works.
•Check that the exterior lights work.
•Turn the steering wheel to check that thesteering power assist works.
FLOOR MATS
WARNINGS
Use a floor mat designed to fit thefootwell of your vehicle that does notobstruct the pedal area. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in the loss of controlof your vehicle, personal injury or death.
Pedals that cannot move freely cancause loss of vehicle control andincrease the risk of serious personal injury.
Secure the floor mat to both retentiondevices so that it cannot slip out ofposition and interfere with the pedals. Failureto follow this instruction could result in theloss of control of your vehicle, personal injuryor death.

WARNINGS
Do not place additional floor mats orany other covering on top of theoriginal floor mats. This could result in thefloor mat interfering with the operation of thepedals. Failure to follow this instruction couldresult in the loss of control of your vehicle,personal injury or death.
Always make sure that objects cannotfall into the driver foot well while yourvehicle is moving. Objects that are loose canbecome trapped under the pedals causinga loss of vehicle control.
To install the floor mats, position the floormat eyelet over the retention post and pressdown to lock in position.
To remove the floor mat, reverse theinstallation procedure.
Note:Regularly check the floor mats to makesure they are secure.

California Civil Code Section 1793.22(b)presumes that the manufacturer has had areasonable number of attempts to conformthe vehicle to its applicable expresswarranties if, within the first 18 months ofownership of a new vehicle or the first18,000 mi (29,000 km), whichever occursfirst:
1. Two or more repair attempts are madeon the same non-conformity likely tocause death or serious bodily injury OR
2. Four or more repair attempts are madeon the same nonconformity (a defect orcondition that substantially impairs theuse, value or safety of the vehicle) OR
3.The vehicle is out of service for repair ofnonconformities for a total of more than30 calendar days (not necessarily all atone time).

5. Locate the vertical adjuster on eachheadlamp. Turn the adjuster eitherclockwise or counterclockwise in orderto aim the headlamp.
6.Close the hood and switch off the lamps.
Horizontal Aim Adjustment
Horizontal aim is not required for this vehicleand is non-adjustable.
REMOVING A HEADLAMP
To gain access to the headlamp securingbolts and to remove the headlamp assembly,you must first remove the front fascia andfront bumper assemblies. We recommendyou see an authorized dealer.
CHANGING A BULB
WARNINGS
Switch all of the lamps and the ignitionoff. Failure to follow this warning couldresult in serious personal injury.
Bulbs can become hot. Let the bulbcool down before removing it. Failureto do so could result in personal injury.
Install in the reverse order unless otherwisestated.
High Intensity Discharge Headlamp (If
Equipped)
These lamps operate at a high voltage. Seean authorized dealer if they fail.
Front Direction Indicator
1. Remove the headlamp. See Removinga Headlamp (page 300).
2. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwiseand remove it.
3.Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out.
LED Lamps
LED lamps are not serviceable items. See anauthorized dealer if they fail.
The following lamps are LED:
•Side direction indicators.
•Approach lamp.
