WARNING
When the double locks are activated, the
doors can no longer be opened from the
inside. People in the vehicle can no longer get out, e.g. in hazardous situations. There is a
risk of injury.
Therefore, do not leave any people unsuper-
vised in the vehicle, particularly children, eld-
erly people or people in need of special assis-
tance. Do not activate the double lock when
people are in the vehicle.
If the vehicle has been locked from the out-
side, the double lock function is activated as
standard. It is then not possible to open the
doors from inside the vehicle. You can deac- tivate the double lock function by deactivat-
ing the interior motion sensor (Y page 91).
The doors can then be opened from the inside after the vehicle has been locked from the
outside.
The anti-theft alarm system is triggered if thedoor is opened from the inside. Switch off the
alarm (Y page 89).
All countries: G
WARNING
If children are left unsupervised in the vehicle, they could:
R open doors, thereby endangering other per-
sons or road users

There is arisk of an accident and injury.
When leaving the vehicle ,always take the key
with you and lock the vehicle .Never leave
childre nand animal sunattended in the vehi-
cle. Keep the keys out of the reach of children.
Stow luggage or loads preferably in the boot/
luggage compartment. Observe the loading
guidelines (Y page 342). Unlockinga
nd opening the doors
from the inside
For all countries except the United King-
dom: you can open adoor from inside the
vehicle even if it has been locked.
If the vehicle has previously been locked from
the outside, opening adoor from the inside
willt rigger the anti-theft alarm system.
Switch off the alarm (Y page 89).
United Kingdom only: if the vehicle has
been locked with the key from the outside,
the double-lock function is activated as
standard. It is then not possible to open the
doors from inside the vehicle .You can deac-
tivate the double lock function by deactivat-
ing the interior motion sensor (Y page 91).
The doors can then be opened from the inside after the vehicle has been locked from the
outside. The anti-theft alarm system is trig-
gered if the door is opened from the inside.
Switch off the alarm (Y page 89).
For all countries: you can only open the rear
doors from inside the vehicle if they are not
secured by the child-proo flocks (Y page 76). X

Parts of the body could become trapped dur-
ing automatic closing of the boot lid or tail- gate. Moreover, people, e.g. children, may be
standing in the closing area or may enter the
closing area during the closing process. There
is ar isk of injury.
Make sure that nobody is in the vicinity of the closing area during the closing process.
Use one of the following options to stop the
closing process:
R press the Fbutton on the key
R pullorp ress the remote operating switch
on the driver's door
R press the closing or locking button on the
boot lid/tailgate
R pullt he handle on the boot lid/tailgate
! The boot lid/tailgate swings upwards and
to the rear when opened. Therefore ,make
sure that there is sufficient clearance
above and behind the boot lid/tailgate.

Do not carry the KEYLESS-GO key about

open or close. Repeat the kicking move-

R press the closing button in the boot lid, or

driver' sdoor.
X Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO: thek eymust

X Press and hold the &buttonuntil the
side windows and th eslidin gsunroo forthe
panoram aslidin gsunroo fare fully closed.
X Mak esure that all th eside windows and the
slidin gsunroo forpanoram aslidin gsunroof
are closed.
On vehicle swithap anoram aslidin gsunroof:
X Press and hold the &buttonagain until
th er oller sunblinds of th epanoram asliding
sunroo fclose.
X To interrup tconvenience closing:
release the &button.
Using KEYLESS-GO The driver'
sdoor and th edoor at whic hthe
handle is used, must bot hbeclosed. The key

Touch recessed sensor surface :on the
door handle until the side windows and the sliding sunroof or the panorama sliding
sunroof are fully closed.
i Make sure you only touch recessed sen-
sor surface :.
X Make sure that all the side windows and the
sliding sunroof or panorama sliding sunroof
are closed.
On vehicles with apanorama sliding sunroof:
X Touch recessed sensor surface :on the
door handle again until the roller sunblinds of the panorama sliding sunroof close.
X To interrupt convenience closing:
release recessed sensor surface :on the
door handle. Resetting the side windows
If as ide window can no longer be closed fully,
you must reset it.
X Close all doors.
X Turn the key to position 1or 2in the ignition
lock.
X Pull the corresponding switch on the door
control panel until the side window is com-
pletely closed. (Y page 111)
X Hold the switch for an additional second. If the side window opens again slightly:
X Immediately pull the corresponding switch
on the door control panel until the side win-
dow is completely closed (Y page 111).
X Hold the switch for an additional second.
X If the corresponding side window remains
closed after the button has been released,
the side window has been reset correctly. If
this is not the case, repeat the steps above again. Side windows

The rea rofthe sliding sunroof is then raised in
order to ventilate the vehicl einterior.
i If the sliding sunroof is obstructe
dwhen
being closed by the rain-closing feature ,it
opens agai nslightly. The rain-closing fea-
ture is then deactivated.
The sliding sunroof doe snot close if:
R it is raised at the rear.
R it is blocked.
R no rai nisfalling on the are aofthe wind-
screen being monitored by the rai nsensor.
If the vehicle, for example, is under abridge
or in acarport, the field of the sensor may
be covered.
Resetting !
If the sliding sunroof stil
lcanno tbe
opened or closed fully afte rresetting ,con-
tact aquali fied specialist workshop.
Reset the sliding sunroof if it doe snot operate
smoothly.
X Turn the key to position 1or 2in the ignition
lock.
X Raise the sliding sunroof fully at the rear
(Y page 115).
X Kee pthe 3 switch presse dfor another
second.
X Make sure that the sliding sunroof can be
fully opened and closed again
(Y page 115).
X If this is not the case, repea tthe steps

closing feature is then deactivated.
The panorama sliding sunroof doe snot close
if:
R it is raised at the rear.
R it is blocked.
R no rai nisfalling on the are aofthe wind-
screen being monitored by the rai nsensor,
e.g. because the vehicl eisunderabridge. Operating the rolle

Important safety notes G
WARNING
Parts of the bod ycould become trapped
between the rolle rsun blind and frame or slid-
ing sunroof during automatic opening or clos-
ing. There is ariskofi njury.
Whe nopening or closing ,make sure that no
bod yparts are in the sweep of the rolle rsun-
blind.
If someone is trapped:
R release the switch immediately or
R press the switch in any direction during the
automatic opening/closing process The opening/closing process is briefl
ystop-
ped .The rolle rsun blind then returns to its ini-
tia lposition.
The rolle rsun blind shields the vehicl einterior
from sunlight. The two rolle rsunblind scan
only be opened and closed together when the panorama sliding sunroof is closed.
Rolle rsunblin dreversin gfeature The rolle
rsunblind is equipped with an auto-
mati creversing feature .Ifanobject blocks or
restricts the rolle rsun blind during the closing
process ,the rolle rsun blind opens agai nauto-
matically .The automatic reversing feature is,
however, only an ai dand is no substitute for
your attention when closing the rolle rsun-
blind. G
WARNING
The reversing function doe snot react in par-
ticula rtosoft, light and thin objects, e.g. small
fingers .Thism eans that the reversing feature
canno tprevent someone being trapped in
thes esituations. There is ariskofi njury.
Whe nclosing the rolle rsunblind ,make sure
that no bod yparts are in the sweep.
If someone is trapped:
R release the switch immediately or
R press the switch in any direction during the
automatic closing process
The closing process is briefl ystopped .The
rolle rsunblind then returns to its initia lposi-

harmful and causes irritation. It must not
come into contact with your skin, eyes, res-
piratory organs or clothing or be swallowed.
There is arisk of injury.
If you come into contact with electrolyte,
observe the following:
R immediately rinse off electrolyte from your
skin with water.
R immediately and thoroughly rinse electro-
lyte out of eyes using clean water.
R if electrolyte is swallowed, immediately
rinse out your mouth thoroughly. Do not
induce vomiting.
R if electrolyte comes into contact with skin
or eyes or is swallowed, seek medical atten-
tion immediately.
R immediately change out of clothing that has
been in contact with electrolyte.
R if an allergic reaction occurs, seek medical
attention immediately.
The rear-view mirror and the exterior mirror
on the driver's side automatically go into anti- dazzle mode if the following conditionsa re
met simultaneously:
R the ignition is switched on and
R incident light from headlamps strikes the
sensor in the rear-view mirror
The mirrors do not dip if reverse gear is
engaged or if the interior lighting is switched
on. Parking position of the exterior mirror
on the front-passenger side
Setting and storing the parking position Using reverse gear

You can set the front-passenger side exterior
mirror so that you can see the rear wheel on
that side as soon as you engage reverse gear.
You can store this position.
X Stop the vehicle and turn the key to posi-
tion 2in the ignition lock (Y page 179).
X Press button ;for the exterior mirror on
the front-passenger side.
X Engage reverse gear.
The exterior mirror on the front-passenger
side moves to the preset parking position.
X Use adjustment button =to adjust the
exterior mirror to aposition that allowsy ou
to see the rear wheel and the kerb.
The parking position is stored.
i If you shift the transmission to another
position, the exterior mirror on the front-
passenger side returns to the driving posi-
