For vehicles with longitudinally adjustable rear
seats, you can also adjust the angle of the rear
seat backrests. There are several possible detent
positions.*NOTE Damage to the release loops due to
the attachment of objects
The release loops of the seat backrests in the
rear passenger compartment may be dam-
aged due to the attachment of objects.
Only attach objects to the tie-down eyes.Pull one of release loops 2 forwards.
1 The corresponding seat backrest will be
unlocked.Move the seat backrest 1 to the desired
angle.Let go of the release loop 2.
The seat backrests lock automatically if they are
not in the folded-down position.
Cargo compartment cover
q Notes on the cargo compartment cover
&WARNING Risk of injury or death due to
poorly secured objects
The cargo compartment cover alone cannot
secure or restrain heavy objects, items of lug-
gage or heavy loads.
You could be hit by an unsecured load, partic-
ularly in the event of abrupt changes in direc-
tion, sudden braking or an accident.
Always stow objects in such a way that
they cannot be thrown around.Secure objects, luggage or loads against
slipping or tipping over, e.g. by using tie
downs, even if you are using the cargo
compartment cover.*NOTE Damage to the cargo compartment
cover when loading the vehicle
The cargo compartment cover may be dam-
aged when the vehicle is being loaded.

Do not place any objects above the
lower edge of the side windows or on the
cargo compartment cover.
Vehicles with a third row of seats: when the third
row of seats is in use, the cargo compartment
cover on the seat backrests on the second row of seats is removed.
q Extending/retracting the cargo compartment
coverTo extend: pull cargo compartment cover back
by grab handle 1 and hook it into holders 2
on the les and right.
Retracting
Release the cargo compartment cover from
holders 2 on the les and right.Guide the cargo compartment cover forwards
using grab handle 1 until it is fully retracted.

= The cargo compartment cover is rolled up.

Press in the end cap of cargo compartment
cover 1 on the right and les-hand side in the
direction of the arrow using the handle on the
lower edge 3.Push cargo compartment cover 1 into the
anchorage 2 on the opposite side.Take cargo compartment cover 1 out by pull-
ing it upwards.
Installing the cargo compartment cover
Place cargo compartment cover 1 in anchor-
age 2 on the right or les-hand side.Press in the end cap of cargo compartment
cover 1 on the opposite side and insertcargo compartment cover 1 into the other
anchorage 2.

Overview of bag hooks&WARNING Risk of injury when using bag
hooks with heavy objects
The bag hooks cannot restrain heavy objects
or items of luggage.
Objects or items of luggage may be Oung
around and hit vehicle occupants.
Only hang light objects on the bag hooks.Never hang hard, sharp-edged or fragile
objects on the bag hooks.
Observe the notes on loading the vehicle
(  page 109).
Subject the bag hooks to a maximum load of 6.6 lbs (3 kg) and do not attach any goods to them.

The clothes hooks are not suitable for hanging
heavy objects as this can cause the tailgate tolower automatically. Use the clothes hooks only

Adjusting the cargo compartment Ooor
Adjusting the height
*NOTE Damage to the cargo compartment
Ooor due to loading in the upper position
with the mounting support removed.
If the cargo compartment Ooor is loaded in the
upper position and the mounting support has
been removed, the cargo compartment Ooor
may be damaged.
Make sure that the cargo compartment
Ooor is not loaded in the upper position
when the mounting support is removed.
The cargo compartment can be made larger or
smaller depending on requirements. To this end, you can lock the cargo compartment Ooor at two
diMerent heights. The higher position provides a
Oat surface when the rear seat backrests are fol-
ded forward. Furthermore, you can remove a
mounting support at the rear to create additional
space lengthways.

Attaching a roof luggage rack&WARNING Risk of accident due to exceed-
ing the maximum roof load
The vehicle center of gravity and the usual
driving characteristics as well as the steering
and braking characteristics alter.
If you exceed the maximum roof load, the driv-
ing characteristics, as well as steering and braking, will be greatly impaired.
Never exceed the maximum roof load
and adjust your driving style.You will Nnd information on the maximum roof
load in the "Technical data" section.*NOTE Damage to the vehicle due to not
observing the maximum permitted head-
room clearance
If the vehicle height is greater than the maxi- mum permitted headroom clearance, the roof
and other parts of the vehicle may be dam-
aged.
Observe the signposted headroom clear- ance.If the vehicle height is greater than the permitted headroom clearance, do not
enter.Observe the changed vehicle height with add-on roof equipment.*NOTE Damage to the panorama roof with
power tilt/sliding panel due to non-
approved roof luggage racks
The panorama roof with power tilt/sliding
panel may be damaged by the roof luggage rack if you attempt to open it when using a
roof luggage rack not tested and approved for
Mercedes-Benz.
When a roof luggage rack is installed,
open the panorama roof with power tilt/
sliding panel only if this has been tested
and approved for Mercedes-Benz.
The panorama roof with power tilt/sliding
panel may be raised to allow ventilation of the
vehicle interior.
Notes on driving with a roof load
= Evenly distribute the roof load, and place
heavy objects at the bottom. Also comply with
the notes on loading the vehicle
(  page 109).
= Drive attentively, and avoid suddenly pulling
away, braking and steering as well as rapid cornering.
= When transporting roof loads and when the
vehicle is fully loaded or fully occupied, select
drive programs  and A . These are
designed to focus on stability (  page 159).Secure the roof luggage rack to the roof rail-
ing.Observe the manufacturer\bs installation
instructions.
Sockets
Using the 12 V socket
Requirements
= Only devices up to a maximum of 180 W
(15 A) are permissible.

Depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle
has the following 12 V sockets:
= In the stowage compartment in the front cen-
ter console
= In the stowage compartment under the front
armrest
= In the cargo compartment
Example: 12 V socket in the stowage compartment
in the front center console
Fold up socket cap 1.Insert the plug of the device.12 V socket in the stowage compartment with
cover: if you have connected a device to the 12 V
socket, leave the cover of the stowage compart-
ment open.
Using the 115 V socket in the rear passenger
compartment
&DANGER Risk of fatal injuries due to a
damaged connecting cable or a damaged
socket
You could receive an electric shock if the con-
necting cable or the 115 V power socket is pulled out of the trim or is damaged or wet.
Use only connecting cables that are dry
and free of damage.When the vehicle is switched oM, make
sure that the 115 V power socket is dry.Immediately have the 115 V power
socket checked or replaced at a qualiNed
specialized workshop if it is damaged or
has been pulled out of the trim.Never plug the connecting cable into a
115 V power socket that is damaged or
has been pulled out of the trim.&DANGER Risk of death due to using the
socket incorrectly
In particular, you could receive an electric shock:
= If you touch the inside of the socket
= If you insert unsuitable devices or objects
into the socket
Do not touch the inside of the socket.Only connect suitable devices to the
socket.Make sure that no liquids get into the 115 V socket.
When the 115 V socket is not in use, keep the socket Oap closed.Seats and stowing125

Requirements
= The device is equipped with a suitable plug
which conforms to the standards speciNc to
the country you are in.
= A device up to a maximum of 150 W (1.3 A) is
used.
= Do not use multiple socket outlets.Open socket Oap 3 .Insert the plug of the device into 115 V socket
1 .
When the on-board electrical system voltage is
suPcient, indicator lamp 2 lights up.
Overview of USB ports
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle
has the following USB ports:
= In the stowage compartment of the cockpit
armrest (  page 112)
= In the front center console next to the mobile
phone stowage compartment
= In the rear center console
= Vehicles with three seat rows: in the side
stowage compartment of the cargo compart-
ment
\bDepending on the vehicle equipment, the
design of the stowage compartment and the number of USB ports in the rear center con-
sole may vary.When the vehicle is switched on, you can charge a
USB device, such as a mobile phone, at the USB ports using a suitable charging cable.
Wireless charging of the mobile phone and con-
nection with the exterior antenna

&WARNING Risk of injury due to objects
being stowed incorrectly
If objects in the vehicle interior are stowed
incorrectly, they can slide or be thrown around
and hit vehicle occupants. In addition, cup
holders, open stowage spaces and mobile
phone receptacles cannot always retain all
objects within.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction.
Always stow objects so that they cannot
be thrown around in such situations.126Seats and stowing

Always make sure that objects do not
protrude from stowage spaces, parcel
nets or stowage nets.Close the lockable stowage spaces before starting a journey.Always stow and secure heavy, hard,
pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or bulky
objects in the trunk/cargo compart-
ment.Observe the notes on loading the vehicle.&WARNING Risk of Nre from placing objects
in the mobile phone storage compartment
Placing other objects in the mobile phone storage compartment could constitute a Nre
hazard.
Apart from a mobile phone, do not place
any other objects in the mobile phone
storage compartment, especially those
made of metal.*NOTE Damage to objects caused by plac-
ing them in the mobile phone storage
compartment
If objects are placed in the mobile phone stor-
age compartment, these may be damaged by
electromagnetic Nelds.
Do not place credit cards, storage
media, ski passes or other objects sensi-
tive to electromagnetic Nelds in the
mobile phone storage compartment.*NOTE Damage to the mobile phone stow-
age compartment caused by liquids
If liquids enter the mobile phone stowage
compartment, the compartment may be dam-
aged.
Ensure that no liquids enter the mobile phone stowage compartment.The following notes on wirelessly charging the
mobile phone must be observed:
= Depending on the vehicle equipment, the
mobile phone is connected to the vehicle\bs
exterior antenna via the charging module.
= The charging function and wireless connection
of the mobile phone to the vehicle\bs exterior
antenna are available only if the vehicle is switched on.
= Small mobile phones may not be able to be
charged in every position of the mobile phone
stowage compartment.
= Large mobile phones that do not rest Oat in
the mobile phone stowage compartment may not be able to be charged or connected withthe vehicle\bs exterior antenna.
= The mobile phone may heat up during the
charging process. This may particularly
depend on the applications (apps) currently
open in the background.
= To ensure more ePcient charging and connec-
tion with the vehicle\bs exterior antenna,
remove the protective cover from the mobileSeats and stowing127

phone. Protective covers which are necessary
for wireless charging are an exception.
Charging a mobile phone wirelessly
Requirements
= The mobile phone is suitable for wireless
charging.
A list of compatible mobile phones can be found at: https://www.mercedes-benz-
mobile.com.
Place the mobile phone as close to the center of the marked surface on mat 1 as possible
with the display facing upwards.
When a message is shown in the multimedia
system, the mobile phone is being charged.
Malfunctions during the charging process are
shown on the central display.\bThe mat can be removed for cleaning, e.g.
using clean, lukewarm water.
Stowage compartment without cover
Make sure the mobile phone is properly stored
and secured to prevent it from falling out while
you are driving.
To secure the mobile phone: swing lever 2
out.
Installing/removing the Ooor mats
&WARNING Risk of accident due to objects
in the driver\bs footwell
Objects in the driver\bs footwell may impede
pedal travel or block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizes the operating and road safety
of the vehicle.
Stow all objects in the vehicle securely so that they cannot get into the driver\bs
footwell.Always install the Ooor mats securely
and as prescribed in order to ensure that
there is always suPcient room for the
pedals.Do not use loose Ooor mats and do not
