Stowage compartments in the front Glove box X
To open: pull handle C and open glove box
flap D .X
To close: fold glove box flap D upwards until
it engages.
Objects in A4 format or an iPad ®
, for example,
can be stored in the glove box. For vehicles with
a perfume atomizer ( Y
page 128) the storage
space of the glove box is restricted.
The glove box can only be locked and unlocked
using the mechanical key ( Y
page 79).X
To lock: insert the mechanical key into the
lock and turn it 90° clockwise to position H .X
To unlock: insert the mechanical key into the
lock and turn it 90° counter-clockwise to
position G . Eyeglasses compartment X
To open: press marking C .
The eyeglasses compartment opens down.
Make sure that the eyeglasses compartment is
always closed while the vehicle is in motion.

Briefly press trim D in the direction of the
arrow.

a small stowage space in the upper front sec-
tion
Stowage compartment in the doors
You can store items such as a rolled-up fluores-
cent jacket (driver's door) and the vehicle docu-
ment wallet (front-passenger door) in stowage
space C in the doors.
In doors D you can store bottles with a capacity
of up to 34 fl. oz. (1.0 liter).
Stowage space in the rear
Stowage compartment in the rear seat
armrest
! Do not sit on or support your body weight on
the rear seat armrest when it is folded down,
as you could otherwise damage it.
! Close the cover of the stowage compart-
ment before folding the rear seat armrest
back into the seat backrest. X
To open: fold down the seat armrest. X
Press on the front of release catch C and fold
the cover of the armrest upwards.
Additional stowage space Depending on the equipment, the following
additional stowage areas are available in the
vehicle: R
card and coin holder in the dashboard above
the light switch (not suitable for holding thin
objects such as shopping tokens) R
the open stowage compartment in the center
console R
stowage net in the front-passenger footwell R
the map pockets on the back of the driver's
and front-passenger seat R
parcel net on the left-hand side in the cargo
compartment

Ski and snowboard bag

G WARNING
The skibag in conjunction with the lashing
straps cannot restrain any objects other than
skis.280

Vehicle occupants could be struck in the
event of sudden braking or an accident, for
instance, if you: R
transport other heavy or sharp-edged
objects in the skibag R
do not secure the skibag with the lashing
straps
There is a risk of accident and injury.
Store only skis in the skibag. Always secure
the skibag with the lashing straps so that it
cannot move around.
A maximum of four pairs of skis or two snow-
boards can be transported in the ski and snow-
board bag.
Securing the ski/snowboard bag in the
cargo compartment

Fold the middle rear seat backrest forwards
( Y
page 281). X
Slide the ski and snowboard bag between the
two outside rear seat backrests. Ensure that
the wheels of the ski/snowboard bag are in
the cargo compartment. X
Open the ski/snowboard bag with zip C and
place the skis or snowboards inside it. X
Close the ski and snowboard bag. X
Pull tensioning strap D tight by the loose end
until the skis or snowboards are held firmly
inside the ski/snowboard bag. X
Engage tensioning strap

Both outside seat backrests in the rear com-
partment are electrically unlocked with the
release handles either in the cargo compart-
ment or beside the seat backrests in the rear
compartment (vehicles with EASY-PACK tailgate
only). The corresponding rear seat backrests
then fold forward automatically.
Folding the rear seat backrests forward Preparation X
Vehicles without memory function: if neces-
sary, move the driver's or front-passenger
seat forward. X
Vehicles with memory function: when one or
both parts of the rear seat backrest are folded
forward, the respective front seat moves
forward slightly, when necessary, in order to
avoid contact.
When the engine is running, the driver's seat
does not move forward. X
Fully insert the rear seat backrest head
restraints.

Hook seat belt buckle tongue C through seat
belt retainer D .
Release handle in the cargo compartment X
Pull the left or right release handle C .
The corresponding backrest folds forward. X

In order to prevent the cargo compartment from
being accessed by unauthorized persons, the
center seat backrest can be locked using a
catch. The center seat backrest can only be fol-
ded forward together with the left seat backrest. X
To lock: fold the left and center seat backr-
ests forward. Make sure that the center and
left seat backrests are engaged and joined
together. X
Slide catch C upwards.
The release mechanism of the center seat
backrest is locked. X
To unlock: fold the left and center seat backr-
ests forward. X

Vehicles with the stowage space package: to
enlarge the cargo compartment, you can adjust
the rear seat backrests to a 10 degrees steeper
angle (cargo position). X
Fold the seat backrest forward ( Y

dle C until the backrest engages.
The cargo position has been reached.
Securing loads

Secure the load using the cargo tie-down

Distribute the load on the cargo tie-down
rings evenly. R
Do not use elastic straps or nets to secure a
load, as these are only intended as an anti-slip
protection for light loads. R
Do not route tie-downs across sharp edges or
corners. R
Pad sharp edges for protection.

Bag hook
G WARNING
The bag hooks cannot restrain heavy objects
or items of luggage. Objects or items of lug-
gage could be flung around and thereby hit
vehicle occupants when braking or abruptly
changing directions. There is a risk of injury.
Only hang light objects on the bag hooks.
Never hang hard, sharp-edged or fragile
objects on the bag hooks.
! The bag hook can bear a maximum load of
6.6lbs (3kg) and should not be used to secure
a load.

Cargo compartment cover
Important safety notes
G WARNING
On its own, the cargo compartment cover
cannot secure or restrain heavy objects,
items of luggage and heavy loads. You could
be hit by an unsecured load during sudden
changes in direction, braking or in the event of
an accident. There is an increased risk of
injury or even fatal injury.
Always store objects so that they cannot be
flung around. Secure objects, luggage or
loads against slipping or tipping over, e.g. by
using tie downs, even if you are using the
cargo compartment cover.
! When loading the vehicle, make sure that
you do not stack the load in the cargo com-
partment higher than the lower edge of the
side windows. Do not place heavy objects on
top of the cargo compartment cover.
The cargo compartment cover is secured behind
the rear bench seat backrest.
Extending and retracting the cargo
compartment cover
X
To extend: pull cargo compartment cover
back by grab handle C and clip it into retain-
ers D on the left and right.X
To retract: unhook the cargo compartment
cover from retainers D on the left and right
and guide it forward by grab handle C until it
is fully retracted. Installing/removing the cargo compart-
ment cover X
To remove: make sure that cargo compart-
ment cover C is rolled up. X
Push in the end cap of cargo compartment
cover C in the direction of the arrow on the
right-hand side using the grip

It is important to use a cargo net if you load the
vehicle with small objects above the seat backr-
ests. For safety reasons, always use a cargo net
when transporting loads.
Damaged cargo nets can no longer fulfill their
protective function and must be replaced. Visit a
qualified specialist workshop.
Using the cargo net Preparing the cargo net
The cargo net can be used in two different posi-
tions (behind the B-pillar or the C-pillar): R
The brackets behind B-pillar C are required
for the cargo compartment enlargement
( Y
page 281).
The corresponding cargo tie-down rings to
tighten the net are located in the footwell of
the rear bench seat ( Y
page 284).R
The brackets behind C ‑ pillar D are required
for the cargo compartment behind the rear
bench seat.
The corresponding cargo tie-down rings to
tension the net are located in the cargo com-
partment ( Y
page 284).
The cargo net is located in the stowage space
under the cargo compartment floor. X
Open both Velcro fasteners and remove the
cargo net. X
Unroll and unfold the cargo net.
The upper and lower guide rods must engage

larly in the event of sharp braking or sudden

Always stow objects in such a way that they
cannot be tossed about in these or similar
situations. R
Always make sure that objects do not pro-
trude out of the stowage spaces, luggage
nets or stowage nets. R
Ensure that closable stowage spaces are
shut before beginning your journey. R
Always stow and secure heavy, hard, poin-
ted, sharp-edged, fragile or large objects in
the cargo compartment.

To avoid damaging the side trim panels in the
cargo compartment, maintain a sufficient dis-
tance from the side trim panels in the cargo
compartment when removing and inserting
the cargo compartment floor.
Installing the parcel net

page 288), raise by approximately 45° and
remove to the rear. X
Place cargo compartment floor D on a clean
surface. X
Stretch parcel net C over cargo compart-
ment floor D as shown.
Make sure that: R

If you drive when the cargo compartment floor
is open, objects could be flung around, thus
