VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM

The vehicle security systemprovides visualand
audio alarmsignals ifsomeone opensthedoors,
or lift gate when thesystem isarmed. Itis not,
however, amotion detection typesystem that
activates whenavehicle ismoved orwhen a
vibration occurs.
The system helpsdetervehicle theftbutcannot prevent
it,nor can itprevent thetheft ofinterior
or exterior vehiclecomponents inall situations.
Always secureyourvehicle evenifparking fora
brief period. Neverleaveyourkeys inthe vehicle,
and always lockitwhen unattended. Beaware
of your surroundings, andpark insecure, well-lit
areas whenever possible.
Many devices offeringadditional protection,
such ascomponent locks,identification markers,
and tracking systems, areavailable atauto
supply storesandspecialty shops.Your
NISSAN dealermayalso offer such equipment.
Check withyour insurance companytosee if

The system canbearmed evenifthe
windows areopen.
2. Place theignition switchinthe OFF position
and remove theIntelligent Key from the
vehicle.
3. Close alldoors. Lockalldoors. Thedoors
can belocked with:

4. Confirm thatthesecurity indicator light
illuminates. Thesecurity indicator lightstays
on for about 30seconds. Thevehicle
security systemisnow pre-armed. After
about 30seconds thevehicle security
system automatically shiftsintothearmed
phase. Thesecurity lightbegins toflash
once every approximately 3seconds. If,
during this30-second pre-armtimeperiod,
the door isunlocked, orthe ignition switchis
placed inthe ACC orON position, the
system willnotarm.
Even when thedriver and/or passengers
are inthe vehicle, thesystem willactivate
with alldoors locked withtheignition
switch inthe LOCK position. Whenplacing
the ignition switchinthe ACC orON
position, thesystem willbereleased.

ing alarm:
. The headlights blinkandthehorn sounds
intermittently .
. The alarm automatically turnsoffafter
approximately 50seconds. However, the

If the engine failstostart using theregistered
key ,it may bedue tointerference causedby

ring. Restart theengine usingthefollowing
procedures:

2. Place theignition switchinthe OFF or
L OCK position andwait approximately 10
seconds.
3. Repeat step1and 2again.
4. Restart theengine whileholding thedevice
(which mayhave caused theinterference)
separate fromtheregistered key.
If this procedure allowstheengine tostart,
NISSAN recommends placingtheregis-
tered keyonaseparate keyring toavoid
interference fromother devices.
