Power top
-Be careful when installing so you do not
pinch your fingers.
- Pay attention to the traffic when installing
the wind def lector. Install the w ind deflec
tor from the s ide of the vehicle that is away
from traffic.
(D Note
Do not lean against the veh icle when instal
ling the wind deflector. Hard objects and dec
orations on clothing such as belt buckles can
scratch the pa int.
{!) Tips
- The wind deflector works best when a ll of
the w indows are rolled up wh ile driving.
- Only store the wind deflector in the storage
bag* when it is dry.
Power top emergency
operation
General information
The power top con be closed manually if there is
o malfunction.
• Set the parking brake.
• Open all windows.
• Switch the ignition off.
• Pull the button@ for approximately 10 to
15 seconds to reduce th e pressure in the power
top hydraulics ¢
page 36, fig. 25.
Only close the power top m anually in an eme r
gency . Have a second person assist . Drive to an
author ized Audi dealer or author ized Audi Service
Facility immediately to have the malfunction cor
rected.
A WARNING
- There is a r isk of pinching the hands or othe r
people during all of the power top emergen
cy operat ion steps.
- Make sure a ll windows are lowered during
emergency ope ration.
- Do not reach into the power top suppor ts
or other moving components .

-Never drive when the power top is not
locked correct ly. The wind from driving
could cause the power top to open. This can
result in injur ies and damage to the vehicle .
{!) Tips
The power top storage compartment cover is
not latched after the emergency operation is
complete. Dr ive to an authorized Audi dealer
or authorized Audi Service Facility immediate
l y to have the malfu nction corrected.

clined too far back when driving, because
this impairs the effectiveness of the safety
belts and airbag system, which increases
the risk of injury .
- To reduce the risk of injury during sudden
braking or in a coll is ion, the driver and front
passenger should not have their backrests in
the reclined position whi le dr iving or riding.
The safety be lts and airbag system can pro
vide the greatest protection possib le when
the backrests a re in the up right posit ion and
the safety belts are worn correctly. The
more a backrest is reclined, the greater the
risk of injury due to an incorrect seating po
sition and safety belt position.

- The power adjustment for the front seats al
so works wit h the ignition switched off or
with the ignition key removed. For this rea
son, children shou ld never be left unattend
ed in the veh icle - they could be injured!
- Exercise caution when adjusting the seat height. Unsuperv ised or careless seat ad
justment can p inch f ingers or hands causing
injuries.
- The front seat backrests must not be re

Easy seat entry
Easy seat entry makes it easier to get into the
back seats.

- When using easy seat entry, t he seat must
always slide all the way back when returning
it to its orig inal position. Otherwise, the set
w ill not be ab le to lock in place. Only drive
once the seat is locked into place.

If the seat w ill not lock in place after using
easy seat entry, slide the seat all the way back unt il it stops. Then adjust the seat to the de
sired posit ion.

Front center armrest
Applies to vehicles with a front center armrest
The center armrest can be adjusted to several
levels.

,. To adjust the angle, raise the armrest c> fig. 57
notch by notch.
"To bring the armrest back down, raise it out of
the top notch and fold it back down. Then lift
the armrest to the desired position, if necessa
ry.
The armrest can slide forward and back.
There is a storage compartment under the arm
rest.
Head restraints
Front head restraints
Applies to: vehicles with ad justab le head restra ints

Applies to vehicles with super sport seats*: the
head restraint is integrated in the backrest and is
therefore not adjustable
Adjust the head restraints so the upper edge is as
even as possible with the top of your head. If that

- Driving without head restraints or head re
straints that are not adjusted correctly dra
matically increases the risk of serious or fa
tal neck injuries.

straints.

Head restraints that are adjusted correctly
and safety belts are an extremely effective
combination of safety equipment.

If there are passengers in the rear seat, fold the
head restraints up on the occupied seats at least
to the next notch

-Never connect devices that generate elect ri
ca l power such as solar panels or a battery
charger to the 12 volt socket . They can dam
age the vehicle electrical system.

console, in the door pockets and in the rear cen
ter armrest* .

-
-Do not p ut any hot beverages in the cup
holder while the vehicle is moving . Ho t bev
erages could spill, wh ich can cause injury.
- Do not use any breakable beverage cont ain
ers ( for example, m ade out of glass or po r
celain). You cou ld be injured by them in the
event of an accident.

Beverage containers in the cup holders should
always have a lid. Otherwise, beverages could
spill and cause damage to veh icle equipment
or stain the seat cove rs.

Opening /closing
• To open the glove compartment, pull the han
dle in the d irection of the arrow .
"' To close the glove compartment, swing the lid
upward until it clicks into place .
The glove compartment can be locked using the
vehicle key.
A WARNING
-Always leave the lid on the glove compart- ment cover closed while dr iving to reduce the
r isk of injury.
Additional storage compartments
T he re are add itiona l storage compartmen ts,
compartments and holders at other locations in
the vehicle:
- In the uppe r part of the glove compartment.
- In the center console under the center arm -
rest* .
- On the back of the right front seat. The com
partment* can hold a maximum we ight of
2 lbs
(1 kg) .
A WARNING
-Do not place any objects on the instrument
panel. Objects that are not stored secu rely
can slide around in the vehicle while driving,
when accele rating or braking or when turn
i n g .
- Make sure that objects cannot fa ll out of the
center console storage compartment or oth-
er compartments and into the footwell

Folding th e ba ckr est back into the upright

-When releasing the rear seat backrest,
make sure there are no people or animals
within its range of motion . The backrest will
fold forwa rd automatically after it is re
leased .
- The backrest must be securely latched so
objects cannot slide forward out of the lug
gage compa rtment dur ing sudden bra king.
- Always make sure the back rest is la tched
completely by pulling forward on it.
- Make sure the safety be lt is not ca ught in
t he door h inges o r the seat fitt ings and
damaged.
- Torn or frayed safety belts can break , and
bel t anchors can break d uring a co llision .
C heck the safety bel ts regularly . Safe ty
bel ts wit h noti ce a ble damage to the web
bing, bindings, buckles or retractors mus t
be rep laced .

-If yo u move the front seat ba ck when t he
rear se at backres t is folded forward, you
could damage the head restraints on the rear seat. If necessary, remove the rear seat
head restra int before moving the front seat

- Make su re the safety be lt is not pinched in
the backrest lock and damaged when the rear seat backrest if fo lded back. Other ob
j ects should be
removed from the rear
bench seat to p rotect the rear backrest from
damage .

A WARNING ~ -
Weak, damaged or fau lty straps used to se
cure objects to t he tie-downs can fail dur ing
heavy braking or a collision and lead to seri
ous injur ies.
- Always use suitable straps and secure ob
jects to the tie-downs in the luggage com
pa rtme nt to prevent objects from shifting
a nd slid ing forwa rd .
- Never secure a child seat restraint to a tie
down .
- Because of the ir load capacity, the hooks
should only be used to secure objects that
weigh a max imum of 10 lb (5 kg) . Heavy ob
jects will not be secu red s ufficiently , and
this in creases the risk of in jury.

driver's side is transferred to the front passeng
er's side. This applies a temperature change to
the front passenger's side.
~ Adjusting the blower
To prevent the windows from fogging over, the
blower should always run at a low speed. You can
adjust the volume of air generated by the blower
to your preference. To have the blower regulated
automatically, press the
IAUTO ! button.
Adjusting the air distribution
The air distribution is adjusted wi th the ~' [M]
and ~ buttons . To have the air distribution regu
lated automatically, press the
!AUTOI button.
The round air vents in the cockpit are adjustable
c::>page 63.
To keep the front sid e windows from fogging up
in damp weather, we recommend opening the
side air vents and tilting them to the side

Foot vents are located under the front seats and
adjustable vents on the end of the center console
to heat the rear of the vehicle.
Iii Switching the defroster on and off
The windshield and s ide windows are defrosted
or cleared of condensation as quickly as possible.
The maximum amount of air flows ma inly from
the vents below the windshie ld. Recirculation
mode switches off. The temperature is controlled
automatically. In the
00 setting, the I A/Cl cooling
mode switches on automatically, depending on
the outside air temperature.
The
IAUTOI button switches the defroster off.

The recirculation mode can be turned on manual
ly or automat ica lly* .
- Switching manual rec irculat ion mode on and

1 - 1 The LED light up when switched

- Automatic* recirculation mode: auto rec ircula

pollutants in the outside air.
In recirculation mode, the air inside the vehicle is
circulated and filtered. This prevents the unfi l
tered air outside the vehicle from entering the
vehicle interior. We recommend sw itching recir
culation mode on when driving through a tunnel
or when sitt ing in traffic

driving in reverse when the engine is cold.
A WARNING
-
You should not use the recirculation mode for
an extended period since no fresh a ir is drawn
in. With the air-conditioning switched off, the
windows can fog up, which increases the risk
of an acc ident .

If the rear window defogger is activated when
the ignition is switched on, the battery manage
ment determ ines based on the battery charge if
it is possible to turn on . Otherwise, the rear win
dow defogger functions with the engine running
and switches off automatically after approxi mately 10 -20 minutes, depending on the out
side temperature.
To prevent the rear w indow defogger from
sw itching off automatically, p ress and hold the
00 butto n for mo re than th ree seconds. This re
mains stored up to approx imately 15 minutes af
ter turn ing off the ignition.
Seat heating
A ppl ies to: ve hicles w ith heated seats
The seat heating has three leve ls. The LED in the
button indicates the selected heat level

When seat heating should not be switched
on
Do n ot turn the seat heat ing on unde r the follow
i ng circumstances:
- The seat is unoccupied.
- The seat is covered with a seat cover.
- The seat is covered with a child seat.
- The seat is damp or wet.
A WARNING
Indiv iduals w ith reduced sensitivity to pain or
temperature could develop burns when us ing
the seat heat ing funct ion. To reduce the r isk
of injury, these ind ividuals should not use
seat heating.

To avoid damage to the heating elements in
the seats, do not kneel on the seats or place heavy loads on a small area of the seat .
(D Tips
-The setting for the seat heating on the driv
er's s ide is assigned to the key that is in use.
- If the front passenger's seat heating is
turned on, it w ill not turn on again automat
ically if more than 10 minutes have passed
between switch ing the ignit ion off and
switching it on aga in.
