forget the spare tire. If the press ure in any tire
is too high when the tire is "cold," let air out
of the tire slowly with the edge of the t ire
gauge and keep checking the pressure until
you reach the pressure that is correct for the
load (passengers and luggage) and kind of
driving you plan to do .
If the pressure in any tire is too low, note the
d ifference between the pressure in the cold
tire and the pressure you need and add the a ir
that you need to reach the correct pressure for
the veh icle load (passengers and luggage) for
the tires on your veh icle as listed on the on
your ve hicle and in this manua l and the kind
of dr iving you p lan to do .
Never exce ed the ma ximum inflation pres
s ur e listed on t he tire s idewall for any re a
s on.
Remember that the vehicle manufacturer , not
the t ire manufacturer , determ ines the correct
tire pressure for the tires on your veh icle .
It is important to check the tire pressure when
the t ires a re cold .
- Read the req uired tire press ure from the tire
pressure label located on driver's s ide B-pil
l ar .
- Turn the valve stem cap counter-clockwise
to remove it from the tire valve .
- Place the air pressure ga uge on the valve.
- The tire pressures sho uld on ly be checked
and adjusted when the tires are cold . The
s light ly raised pressures of warm tires must
not be reduced.
- Adjust the tire pressure to the load you are
carrying.
- Re insta ll the va lve stem cap on the valve .
When should I check the tire pressure?
The correct tire pressure is espec ially impo r
tant at high speeds . The pressure sho uld
therefore be checked at least once a month
and a lways befo re starting a journey.
When should I adjust the tire pressures?

A WARNING
Incorrect tire pressures and/or underinfla
tion can lead sudden tire fa ilure, loss of
control, collision, serio us pe rsonal injury
or even death.
- When the warning symbol

the instrument cluster, stop and inspect
the t ires.
- Inco rrect tire pressure and/or underinfla
tion can cause increased tire wea r and
can affect the handling of the vehicle and
stopping ability.
- Inco rrect tire pressures and/or unde rin
flation can a lso lead to sudden t ire fail
ure, including a blowou t and su dden de
flation, caus ing loss of veh icle cont ro l.
- Th e drive r is responsib le for the co rrec t
tire pressures for all tires on the veh icle.
The applicable pressure values a re locat
ed on a sticke r on the driver's side B-pil
lar.
- On ly when all tires on the vehicle are fil
led to the correct pressure, the t ire pres
sure mon itor ing system can work cor
rectly.
- The use of incorrect tire pressu re va lues
can lead to acc idents or other damage.
Therefore it is essential that the driver
observe the spec ified t ire pressure val ues
for the tires and the correct pressures for
the function of the t i re p ress ure monito r
ing system.
- Always inf late t ires to the recommended
and correct t ire p ress ure before dr iv ing
off.
- Driving with unde rinflated tir es bend
mo re, lett ing t hem get too hot resulting
in tre ad separ ation, sudden tire failure
and loss of cont rol.
- Excessive speed and/overloading can
cause he at bu ild- up, sudden tire failure
an d loss of cont rol. •

remain continuous ly illuminated . This se
quence will continue upon subsequent vehicle
start-ups as long as the ma lfunction ex ists.
When the malfunct ion indicator is ill uminat
ed, the system may not be able to detect or
signa l low tire pressure as intended. TPMS
malfunct ions may occur for a variety of rea
sons, including the installat ion of replace
ment or alternate tires or wheels on the veh i
cle that prevent the TPMS from funct io ni ng
properly. Always check the TPMS malfunct ion
tellta le afte r replacing one or more t ires or
wheels on your veh icle to ensure that the re
p lacement or a lternate tires and wheels allow
the TPMS to continue to function properly.
Tire pressure indicator appears
Applies to vehicles: with tire pressure monitoring system
The tire pressure indicator in the instrument
cluster informs you if the tire pressure is too
low or if there is a system malfunction.

Using the ABS sensors, the tire pressure moni

Tire tread circumference and vibration charac
teristics can change and cause a tire pressure
warning if:
- the t ire press ure in one or more tires is too
low,
- the tire has structural damage,
- the t ire press ure was changed, wheels rotat -
ed or rep laced but the TPMS was not reset

more of your t ires is significant ly under
inflated. Reduce your speed immediately
and avoid any hard steer ing or b rak ing
maneuvers. Stop as soon as possib le and
check the tires and their pressu res . In

significantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire
failure . Under-inflation also is likely to
impair the vehicle's handling and stop
ping ability .
- The driver is responsible for mainta ining
the correct tire pressures. You must
check the tire pressures regularly.
- Under certain conditions (such as a spor
ty driving style, winter conditions or un
paved roads), the pressure monitor indi
cator may be delayed.
- Ask your author ized Audi dealer if run
flat tires may be used on your veh icle.
Your vehicle registration becomes inval id
if you use these tires when not permit
ted. Damage to your vehicle or accidents
cou ld also resu lt.
- If you switch between standard and run
flat tires, an authorized Audi dealer or
qualified workshop must reprogram the
control module .
@ Tips
-The tire pressure monitoring system may
stop working when there is an ESC mal
funct ion .
- Using snow chains may result in a system
malfunction.
- The tire pressure monitoring system on
your Audi was developed using tires with
the "AO" or "RO" identif ication on the
tire sidewall ¢

mend using these tires.
Reset tire pressure monitoring system
(Stepl)
Applies to vehicles: with tire pressure monitoring system
If the tire pressure is adjusted, wheels are ro
tated or changed, the TPMS must be reset in
the menu display.

~ Remove the hose from the valve and pull the
plug out of the socket.
~ Drive the vehicle slow ly 10 mete rs bac kward
or forward. This helps to dist ribu te t he sea l
ant better .
~ Remove the empty inflation bott le and
screw the hose®¢

tric pump directly onto the valve.
~ I nsert the plug@¢ fig. 150 into the socket
for the ciga rette lighter.
~ Switch on the ignition .
~ Move the switch @¢ fig. 151 on the elec
t ric a ir pump

nutes, t ire pressure mus t have reached at
least 1.8 b ar.
~ Switch the electric a ir pump off -switch in
position
0 . If the required tire pressure of at
l east 1.8 bar has not been reached, it is not
poss ib le to make a repa ir with the tire seal
ant. Seek professional ass istance.
Disas sembling Tire Mobility System
~ Remove the hose from the valve and p ull the
plug out of the soc ket .
~ Screw the d ust cap onto the va lve.

~ Place the empty sea lant bott le back in the
original packaging and clip it in place under
the floor so that no tire sea lant can run out
into the veh icle.
~ Place the electric air pump in the luggage
compartment for the t ime being .
~ Start driv ing right away so that the sealant
is dist ributed in the tire.
.&_ WARNING
- Follow the manufacturer 's safe ty inst ru c
tions on the de cal for the ai r pump and
the sealan t bottle .
- If a tire pressure of 1.8 bar cannot be
achieved after pumping for 5 minutes,
the ti re is too severe ly damaged. Do not
continue to drive .
- Seek pro fessional assistance if it is not
possible to repa ir the tire with the t ire
sealant.
(D Tips
- Do not opera te the elec tric air pump fo r
more than 6 minutes without stopping,
otherwise it can overheat . When the ai r
pump has coo led down, you can continue
to use it.
- If sea lant has escaped, allow it to dry,
then yo u can peel it off.
Final check

After d riv ing for a short d istance , tir e

~ After driving for about 10 mi nutes, stop and
check the tire pressure .
~ If tire pressu re is st ill at least 1.3 bar, in
flate the tire to specified press ure (see dr iv
er's side B-pillar), drive to the next repa ir
shop and have the tire and the sealant bot
tle replaced.
~ If tire pressu re is less than 1.3 bar, the t ire
is too severely damaged. Do not continue to

The discharged battery must be properly connected to the vehicle's electrical sys
tem.
Use of jumper cables
Make sure to connect the jumper coble
clomps in exactly the order described below!

The procedure described below for connecting
jumper cables is intended to provide a jump
start for your veh icle.
Preparatory me asures
1. Do not jump start a frozen battery! Re
place such a battery!
2 . Otherwise apply the hand brake and put
the selector leve r into P pos ition.
3. For both vehicles swi tch off all cons umers
and the ignit ion.
Conn ecting /disconnecting the jumper

4. Con nect one end of the red jumper cable
on the

5 . Connect the other end of the red jumper
cable to the positive terminal @ofthe
booster battery @.
6 . Connect one end of the black jumper ca
ble to the negat ive terminal ® of the
booster battery @.
7. Co nnect the othe r end of the black jumper
c able to the negat ive termina l (bolt head)
@ in the external starting po int @ of
your vehicle.
8 . Route the jumper cables so that they can
not catch in any rotat ing parts in the en
gine compartment.
Sta rting th e engine
9. Sta rt the eng ine of the vehicle providing
assistance and allow it to run at idle.
10. Now start the engine of the vehicle with
the discharged battery, wait for two to
three minutes until the engine "runs"
smooth ly.
11. If the eng ine does not start: Stop try ing
after 10 seconds and then try aga in after
about 30 seconds.
12 . In the vehicle that has received sta rt as
s istance, tur n on the heate r blower and
the rear window hea ting to elim inate a ny
vo ltage peaks when disconnecting . Driv
ing lights must be switched off!
13 . Disconnect the cable while the engine is
runn ing exactly in
reverse order to that
described in<=>
page 217, Connecting/dis
connecting the jumper coble ..
When do

contact rotating eng ine parts.
14 . Close the cove r on the posit ive termina l.
T he battery is vented to the outside to p revent
gases from enter ing the veh icle inter ior. Make
s ur e that the jumper clamps a re well connec t

the battery terminals.
