Foot on thebrake pedalfixed. The brake pedal must be pressed. With an electronic gearbox, press the brake pedal to start the engine (lever in position N ).
With an automatic gearbox, with the engine running,
press the brake pedal before releasing the parking
brake, to unlock the lever and come out of position P.PIf you wish to release the parking brake withoutpressing the brake pedal, this warning lamp will
remain on.
flashing. With an electronic gearbox, if you hold the vehicle on an incline using
the accelerator for too long, the clutch overheats. Use the brake pedal and
/or the parking brake.
Automatic wipingfixed.The wiper control is pushed downwards. Automatic front wiping is activated.

Anti-lockBraking System(ABS)
fixed. The anti-lock braking system has a fault. The vehicle retains conventional braking.
Drive carefully at reduced speed and contact aCITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop without delay.
Dynamic stability control(ESP/ASR)
flashing.The ESP/ASR regulation is active. The system optimises traction and improves the
directional stability of the vehicle.

ed. Unless it has been deactivated (button pressed and its indicator lamp
on) the ESP/ASR system has a fault. Have it checked b
y a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.
Engine autodiagnosis system
flashing. The engine management system hasa fault. Risk of destruction of the catalytic conver ter.
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
workshop.

ed. The emission control system has a
fault. The warning lamp should go off when the engine is started.
If it does not go off, contact a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop without delay.

low. You must stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
Top up with brake fluid recommended by CITROËN.

For a few seconds after the ignition is switched on,the spanner flashes to indicate that the service must be carried out as soon as possible.Example:the ser vice is overdue by 180 miles (300 km).
For a few seconds after the ignition is switched
on, the display indicates:
A few seconds after the ignition is switched
on, the distance recorder resumes its normaloperation. The spanner remains on.
Service indicator zero reset
After each ser vice, the ser vice indicator mustbe reset to zero.
The procedure for resetting to zero is as
follows: ) switch off the ignition, )
press and hold the trip distance recorder
zero reset button, ) switch on the ignition; the distance recorder display begins a countdown, )
when the display indicates "=0", release
the button; the spanner disappears.
Retrieving the serviceinformation
You can access the ser vice information at anytime. )Press the trip distance recorder zero reset button.
The ser vice information is displayed for a
few seconds, then disappears.
The distance remaining may be weighted by the time factor, dependingon the driver's driving habits. Therefore, the spanner may also comeon if you have exceeded the period since the last service, indicated in the MAINTENANCE AND WARR ANT YGUIDE.
Following this operation, if you wish todisconnect the battery, lock the vehicleand wait at least five minutes for thezero reset to be taken into account.

System which measures the total distance
travelled by the vehicle during its life.
The total and trip distances are displa
yed for
thirty seconds when the ignition is switched off,
when the driver's door is opened and when the

ehicle is locked or unlocked.
) With the ignition on, press the button until
zeros appear.
Tr ip distance recorder
System which measures a distance travelledduring a day or other period since it was reset
to zero by the driver.
Clock
Adjusting the time - Choice of units
To a djust the time of the clock and choose the
units used by the screen, use the right-hand
button on the instrument panel, carrying out the
operations in the following order: )press the button for more than two seconds:
the minutes flash, )press the button to increase the minutes, )press the button for more than two seconds:

Scented air freshener System permitting the diffusion of a fragrance in the passenger compar tment in accordance with your requirements, by means of the adjustment dial and the various fragrance car tridges available.

s dial is located on the dashboard.
It allows you to adjust the intensity of diffusion
of the fragrance. )Turn the dial to the right to permit diffusion
of the fragrance. )Turn the dial to the left to stop diffusion of
the
fragrance.
Leave the central vents open.
Fragrance cartridge
Removing the cartridge
)Press the dial and turn it a quarter of a turnanti-clockwise. )Remove the cartridge.
)Refit its sealing case.
Fitting the cartridge
)
Remove the cartridge from the sealingcase. )
Install the car tridge (flower at top left). )
Press the dial and turn it a quar ter of a turnclockwise.
As a safety precaution, do not carry out any action on the car tridge whiledriving. Do not dismantle the car tridges.Do not attempt to refill the fragrancediffuser or the cartridges.
Avoid all contact with the skin and eyes.Keep out of reach of children and
animals.
Do not discard the original cartridge as this ser ves as a plug when no fragrance cartridge is in use. In order to preser ve the ser vice life of the cartridge, turn the dial fully to the leftwhen you no longer wish to diffuse the fragrance in the passenger compartment.
The intensity of diffusion of the fragrance may depend on the ventilationor air conditioning settings.
Adjustment dial
This car tridge can be removed easily. Thefirst time it is used, replace the plug with a real cartridge.
You can change it at any time and store it in the
sealed case which keeps it closed once it has
been opened.
You can obtain different fragrance car tridges
from a CITROËN dealer or a qualified
wor
kshop.
