courtesy system with illuminated

A fl a p i n t h e b a c k r e s t , l o c a t e d t o t h e
rear of the armrest, facilitates the
carrying of long objects.

the mirror is illuminated automati-
cally.
To prevent dazzle from ahead, fold
the visor downwards.
It can be disengaged from its central
fi x i n g a n d p i v o t e d o v e r t o t h e s i d e
windows if required. AIR CONDITIONED
GLOVEBOX
T o o p e n t h e g l o v e b o x , p u l l o n t h e
handle and lower the lid.
T h e g l o v e b o x h a s a m a n u a l l y c l o s -
able air conditioning vent B .
It has 2 or 3 sockets C to connect
audio/video equipment.
It has automatic lighting.
It provides access to the dashboard
f u s e b o x .
Whilst driving, the
glovebox should be kept
closed. To open
Lower the rear armrest.

Load the objects from inside the
boot.
Ensure that the objects are well se-
cured and that they do not impede
the operation of the gear lever.

CHECKS
Unless otherwise indicated, check
these components in accordance
with the Maintenance and Warranty
Guide and according to your engine.
Otherwise, have them checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
Battery The battery does not re-
quire any maintenance.
However, check that the
terminals are clean and
correctly tightened, par-
ticularly in summer and
winter.
When carrying out work on the bat-
tery, refer to the "Practical information" section for details of the precautions
to be taken before disconnecting the
battery and following its reconnection.
Air filter and passenger compartment filter
Refer to the Maintenance
and Warranty Guide for
details of the replacement
intervals for these compo-
nents.
Depending on the environment (e.g.
dusty atmosphere) and the use of
the vehicle (e.g. city driving), replace
them twice as often if necessary
(refer to the "Engines" paragraph).
A c l o g g e d c a b i n fi l t e r m a y h a v e a n
adverse effect on the performance
of the air conditioning system and
generate undesirable odours.
Oil filter
R e p l a c e t h e o i l fi l t e r e a c h
time the engine oil is
changed. Particle filter system (Diesel)
Complementary to the catalytic
c o n v e r t e r , t h i s fi l t e r m a k e s a n a c -
tive contribution to the preservation
of air quality by the retaining of the
unburnt pollutant particles. Black
e x h a u s t f u m e s a r e t h u s n o l o n g e r
emitted.
After prolonged idling or driving at very
low speeds, you may occasionally
notice water vapour being emitted from
t h e e x h a u s t w h e n a c c e l e r a t i n g . T h i s i s
of no consequence to the running of
the vehicle or to the environment.
If there is risk of clogging, a mes-
sage appears on the instrument
panel display, accompanied by an
audible signal and lighting of the
service warning lamp.
This alert tells you that the particle
fi l t e r i s s t a r t i n g t o fi l l u p ( i n c o n d i t i o n s
o f u r b a n d r i v i n g o f e x c e p t i o n a l l y l o n g
d u r a t i o n : l o w s p e e d s , t r a f fi c j a m s
etc.)
T o r e g e n e r a t e t h e fi l t e r , i t i s a d v i s e d
to drive as soon as possible, when
t r a f fi c c o n d i t i o n s p e r m i t , a t a s p e e d
of 40 mph (around 60 km/h) or
m o r e f o r a t l e a s t fi v e m i n u t e s ( u n t i l
the alert message disappears).
If this alert persists, consult a
CITROËN dealer.

Warranty Guide for details of the
replacement interval for this compo-
nent.

AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING (DUAL-ZONE)
Dual-zone: this is the differentiated regulation of the temperature and air distri-
bution on the driver's side and the front passenger side.
The driver and his front passenger can each adjust the temperat ure and the
distribution of the air to suit their requirements.
The symbols and messages associated with the automatic air condit ioning con-
trols appear on the multifunction screen. This is the normal sys-
tem operating mode.
In accordance with the
level of comfort chosen,
pressing this control,
c o n fi r m e d b y t h e d i s p l a y
of indicator lamp A , permits auto-
matic and simultaneous control of
all of the following functions:
- A i r fl o w .
- Temperature in the passenger compartment.
- Air distribution.
- Air conditioning.
- Automatic air recirculation.
It is advisable to leave all of the
vents open. Simply pressing one
of the controls, with the exception
of temperature regulation 1a and
1b , switches the system to manual
mode. Indicator lamp A switches off.

Turn control 2a to change the
temperature on the driver's side
and control 2b to change the
temperature on the passenger's
side: to the right to increase the
temperature or to the left to re-
duce it.
The setting required is displayed.
The value indicated on the display
corresponds to a level of comfort
and not to a temperature in degrees
Celsius or Fahrenheit, depending
o n t h e s c r e e n c o n fi g u r a t i o n .
A setting around the value 21 usually
makes it possible to obtain optimum
comfort. However, depending on your
requirements, a setting between 18
and 24 is usual.
On entering the vehicle, the interior
temperature may be much colder
(or warmer) than is comfortable.
There is no need to change the
temperature displayed in order to
quickly obtain the level of comfort
required.
The automatic regulation of the air
conditioning will use its maximum
performance settings to correct the
temperature difference as quickly
as possible.
2a-2b. Temperature adjustment Control via the manual
controls
Press one of the controls, with
the exception of temperature
regulation 2a and 2b . The indi-
cator lamps A on the "AUTO"
controls switch off.
It is possible to adjust one or more
functions manually while leaving the
other functions in automatic mode.
Switching to manual mode may re-
sult in discomfort (temperature, hu-
midity, odour, condensation) and
may not provide optimum comfort.
To return to "AUTO" mode, press
controls 1a and 1b . The indicator
lamps A come on. 3a-3b. Air distribution adjustment

The indicator lamps corresponding
to the distribution chosen come on:
- Windscreen and front side win- dows.
- Front ventilation (central and side vents and air diffusion grille
if open) and rear ventilation.
- Front and rear footwells.
Simultaneous display of the distribu-
tion of air to the windscreen and side
windows and of front and rear venti-
lation is not possible.

To prevent condensation and dete-
rioration of the quality of the air in
the passenger compartment, ensure
t h a t a n a d e q u a t e fl o w o f a i r i s m a i n -
tained.
6. Air conditioning
The air conditioning will
only operate when the
engine is running. The air
b l o w e r c o n t r o l ( a i r fl o w a d -
justment) must be active in
order to obtain air conditioning.
Press control 6 . The indicator
lamp comes on.
In order to be effective, the air
conditioning must be used with the
windows closed. 7. Air recirculation - intake of
exterior air
Automatic air intake
mode
It is activated by default
in automatic comfort
regulation.
A u t o m a t i c m o d e i s a c t i v a t e d w i t h
reverse gear or operation of the
s c r e e n w a s h .
This function permits recircula-
tion of the air and isolation the
passenger compartment from
exterior fumes and odours. It is
i n a c t i v e w h e n t h e a m b i e n t t e m -
p e r a t u r e i s b e l o w + 5 ° C t o a v o i d
the risk of misting inside the ve-
hicle.
Closing the air intake
Press control 7 to
close the exterior air
intake.
It must be cancelled as soon as pos-
sible to permit renewal of the air in
the passenger compartment and
demisting.
Intake of exterior air
Press control 7 once
to open the exterior air
intake.
While retaining the other settings,
this position allows the driver to iso-
late the passenger compartment at
any time from unpleasant exterior
odours and fumes.
