Lighting is associated
with another warning
lamp:
Service If this warning lamp
comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a
problem in one of the
systems which does not have a spe-
c i fi c w a r n i n g l a m p .
In order to identify it, see the mes-
sage on the multifunction screen.
The warning lamp only comes on
temporarily in the case of the follow-
ing minor faults:
- incorrect closing of the doors, boot, rear screen and bonnet,
- fl a t r e m o t e c o n t r o l b a t t e r y ,
- low tyre pressure,
- the saturation of the particle e m i s s i o n fi l t e r ( D i e s e l ) .
In the case of major faults, the warn-
ing lamp remains on until the operating
f a u l t i s r e c t i fi e d , c o n t a c t a C I T R O Ë N
dealer as soon as possible. Braking
If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in
one of the braking systems:
- s i g n i fi c a n t d r o p i n t h e fl u i d l e v e l in the circuit,
- electronic brake force distribu- tion (EBFD) faulty (simultane-
ous lighting of the ABS warning
lamp),
stop the vehicle immediately and as
safely as possible.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Parking brake
When stationary, the perma-
nent lighting of this warning
l a m p c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e p a r -
king brake is applied.
I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s , i t i n d i -
cates a fault with its application or re-
lease. Consult a CITROËN dealer.
With the engine running, and when
displayed at the same time as the
STOP warning lamp, it indicates that
t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i s t o o l o w . Electric parking brake fault
This warning lamp comes
on if there is a fault with the
electric parking brake.
Electric parking brake -
deactivation of automatic
functions This warning lamp comes
on if the "automatic lock-
ing" (upon switching off the
ignition) and the "automatic
unlocking" functions are de-
activated or faulty.
Dynamic stability control
(ESP/ASR) The ESP/ASR system is put
into service automatically
when the vehicle is started.
Unless the system has been deacti-
vated, if this warning lamp comes on
continuously, accompanied by a mes-
sage on the instrument panel screen,
switching on of the SERVICE warning
lamp and an audible signal, this indi-
cates the occurrence of a fault in the
ESP/ASR system.
Central alert
- punctured wheel,
- braking,
- coolant temperature,
stop the vehicle immediately and as
safely as possible.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in
the anti-lock braking sys-
tem.
However, this does not prevent op-
eration of the vehicle's servo assist-
ed braking. If this warning lamp comes on, stop
immediately and contact a CITROËN
dealer.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.

Mechanical device for immobilising
the vehicle when stationary. This warning lamp comes
on if the parking brake is en-
gaged or not fully released.
If the parking brake is released,
the lighting of this warning lamp
along with the STOP warning lamp
i n d i c a t e s a n i n s u f fi c i e n t l e v e l o f
b r a k e fl u i d o r a m a l f u n c t i o n o f t h e
braking distribution.
It is essential to stop the vehicle.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Application
Pull the parking brake to immobi-
lise your vehicle.
To facilitate the action on the lever,
you are recommended to press the
brake pedal at the same time.
In all circumstances, as a
precautionary measure,
e n g a g e fi r s t g e a r .
On steep gradients, turn the steer-
ing wheel towards the pavement. Release
Press on the end of the lever
whilst pulling it then lower it fully.

ELECTRICPARKINGBRAKE
The electric parking brake combines
2 operational modes:
- AUTOMATIC
Automatic application when the engine stops and automatic re-
lease on use of the accelerator
(automatic operation by default),
- MANUAL
Manual application/release of the parking brake is always pos-
sible by pulling control A while
pressing the brake pedal. Automatic operation
Application with the engine off
With the vehicle stationary, the parking
brake
is automatically applied when
the engine is switched off.
The application of the parking brake

With the engine running and the ve-
hicle stationary, in order to immobi-
lise the vehicle you need to manually
apply the parking brake by
pulling
on control A .
The application of the parking brake

- the lighting of the warning
lamp on control A and on
the instrument panel,
Before leaving the vehicle,
check that warning lamp P
on the instrument panel is
permanently lit.
Never leave a child alone inside the
vehicle with the ignition on, as they
could release the parking brake.
- the display of a message "parking
brake applied" on the instrument
panel screen.

When the driver’s door is opened, a
beep is heard and a message dis-
played if the parking brake has not
been applied.
Before leaving the vehicle,
check that warning lamp P
on the instrument panel is
permanently lit.
