from the vehicle, taking care not to damage
the radiator fins (see illustration).

Removal
1Disconnect the battery negative lead.
2Drain the cooling system.
3Disconnect the heater coolant

5Thoroughly clean the mating faces of the
cylinder block and sump. 
Refitting
6Commence refitting by applying sealing
compound (available from a Ford dealer) to
the cylinder block
