BD090A1-E Manual Transxle Vehicle The vehicle may be towed by the con- ventional method using the towing eye at the front of the vehicle as an attach- ment point. In addition, a suspendedtow with or without a towing dolly may be used with either the front or the rear wheels being suspended, provided theabove caution is observed.

In addition, the following points must be noted:
o If towing by conventional means,
the ignition key must be at the "ACC" position, otherwise the steering lock will be activated.
o Because the brake system and
steering system power assis-tance is derived from the engine, the amount of effort required tostop or steer the vehicle will be greater than normal.
o If a suspended tow is being given to the rear, the ignition key mustbe at the "ACC" position since the steering lock is not designedto withstand the force required to hold the front wheels straight during the tow.
o The vehicle must not be towed with the front wheels on theground for more than thirty miles.
! CAUTION:
The following restriction must be observed in order to avoid serious damage to the transaxle . The vehicle must never be towedfrom the rear with the front wheels on the ground. The vehicle must not be towed untiltransaxle fluid has been added to bring the level up to the "HOT" marking on the dipstick. (The levelwill need to be reduced again after towing).

The vehicle must not be towed atspeeds faster than 25 mph. or dis- tances greater than fifty miles. Thegeneral points regarding the steer- ing lock etc. described in the pre- ceding section (Manual transaxlevehicle) should be observed.
D080D03A-EAT EMERGENCY TOWING For emergency towing when no com- mercial tow vehicle is available, attach a tow cable, chain or strap to one of the towing hooks under the front/rear ofyour car. Do not attempt to tow your vehicle in this manner on any unpaved HLC4014surface. This may result in serious damage to your car.Nor should it be attempted if the wheels, drive train, axles, steering or brakes are damaged. Before towing, be surethe transaxle is in neutral and the key in "ACC" (with the engine off) or in the "ON" position (with the engine run-ning). A driver must be in the towed car to steer it and operate the brakes.
CAUTION:
If the car is being towed with all fourwheels on the ground, it can be towed only from the front. Be surethat the transaxle is in neutral. Do not tow at speeds greater than 25 mph(50 km/h) and for more than 15miles (25 km). Be sure the steering is unlocked by placing the key in the "ACC" posi-tion. A driver must be in the towed vehicle to operate the steering and brakes.

12SPARKING PLUG REPLACEMENT
G060A01L Prior to installing a sparking plug, the gap between the centre and outer elec- trodes must be checked and adjusted as necessary.Adjustment is facilitated by bending the outer electrode towards or away from the centre electrode. Under no circum-stances should attempts be made to adjust the position of the centre elec- trode.
4. Insert the sparking plug into the cyl-
inder head and using a suitable plug socket, slowly rotate the sparkingplug, (being careful not to cross- thread), until the plug contacts the seating area. Tighten the plug withthe plug socket by a further 1/2 to 3/ 4 of a turn only.
3. Clean around the base of the plug to
be removed, and install the plugsocket ensuring that the ceramic insulator does not become damaged.Turn the socket counterclockwise to remove the plug.
CAUTION:
Sparking plugs must only be cleaned using purpose designed equipment.Wire brushing may damage the cen- tre electrode insulator causing mis- firing to occur. Only the correct gradeof sparking plug should be used. Use of an incorrect grade may result in serious engine damage.

SG060A1-E (Petrol Engine Only) This operation should only be performed when the engine is cold.
1. Remove the centre cover from the
engine rocker cover (DOHC Engine only).
2. Remove plug lead from the sparking
plug to be replaced, pulling the leadby the rubber cap. (Pulling the lead may damage the carbon conductor.) 0.039~0.043 in. (1.0 ~ 1.1 mm )

1. Remove the mounting screws of the rear fog light cover with a phillips screwdriver.
3. Replace with a new bulb.

All Hyundai vehicles are equipped with oxidation type catalytic converter to reduce the carbon monoxide, hy- drocarbons and particulate containedin the exhaust gas.

This system helps control oxides ofnitrogen by recirculating a part of theexhaust gas into the engine.
Care must also be exercised to avoiddriving over road hazards or debriswhich may cause damage to the cata- lyst element.
Push or tow starting of the vehicle is to be avoided since unburnt fuel maybe enter the catalyst and result in damage. (Note, it is impossible to push or tow start a Hyundai modelequipped with fuel injection since the fuel pump safety interlock will prevent the pump from operating under theseconditions).Operation of the catalyst involvesextremely high temperatures beingattained within the catalytic conver- tor, and although the convertor is fitted with heat shields, it is importantthat the vehicle is not parked over combustible or volatile material which may result in fire.If the above precautions are not ad-hered to and the catalyst becomesinoperative, the resultant increase in core temperature will result in a "melt down" where the catalyst core willmelt and subsequently may block the exhaust system. Due to the fragile nature of the cata- lyst element, it is important that dam- age does not occur when the vehicle is raised by means of a garage jack.
