1. To engage the child restraint seat to the ISOFIX anchor, insert the child restraint seat latch into the ISOFIX anchor. Listen for the audible "click"sound.
!WARNING:
o Do not install a child restraint seat at the center of the rear seat using the vehicle's ISOFIX anchors. The ISOFIX anchors are only provided for the left and right outboard rear seating positions. Do not misusethe ISOFIX anchors by attempting to attach a child restraint seat in the middle of the rear seat to theISOFIX anchors. In a crash, the child restraint seat ISOFIX attach- ments may not be strong enoughto secure the child restraint seat properly in the center of the rear seat and may break, causing seri-ous injury or death.
o When using the vehicle’s “ISOFIX”
system to install a child restraintsystem in the rear seat, all unused vehicle rear seat belt metal latch

child restraint hook holder and tighten to secure the seat. Refer to "Securing a Child Restraint System with the Tether Anchorage System"on page 1-29.

o Attach the ISOFIX or ISOFIX-com- patible child restraint seat onlyto the appropriate locationsshown in the illustration.
o Always follow the installation and
use instructions provided by themanufacturer of the child re- straint.

o Fuel vapors are dangerous. Be- fore refueling, always stop the en- gine and never allow sparks or open flames near the filler area. Ifyou need to replace the filler cap, use a genuine Hyundai replace- ment part.If you open the fuel filler cap dur- ing high ambient temperatures, a slight "pressure sound" may beheard. This is normal and not a cause for concern. Whenever you open the fuel fillercap, turn it slowly. B560B01E
o Automotive fuels are flammable/
explosive materials. When refuel- ing, please note the following guidelines carefully.- Before touching the fuel nozzle or fuel filler cap, have one'shands in contact with metal parts away from the filler neckto discharge static electricity.
- Do not get back in the vehicle
while refueling. Do not operateanything that can produce static electricity. Static electricity dis- charge can ignite fuel vaporsresulting in an explosion.
- When using a portable fuel con-
tainer, be sure to place the con-tainer on the ground while refu- eling. Static electricity dis- charge from the container canignite fuel vapors causing a fire. While starting refueling, contact should be maintaineduntil the filling is complete.- Do not use cellular phonesaround a gas station. The elec- tric current or electronic inter- ference from cellular phones can ignite fuel vapors and causea fire.
- When refueling, always turn the
engine off. Sparks by electricalequipment of the engine can ignite fuel vapors causing a fire. After refueling, check tomake sure the fuel filler cap is securely closed, and then start the engine.
- Do not smoke or try to light cigarettes around a gas station.Automotive fuels are flam-mable.

To Adjust the Steering Wheel:
1. Push the lever downward to unlock.
2. Raise or lower the steering wheel to the desired position.
3. After adjustment, securely tighten
the lever by pulling it upward.
WARNING:
Do not attempt to adjust the steer-ing wheel while driving as this may result in loss of control of the ve- hicle which may cause serious in-jury or death. Press the center hub of the steering wheel to sound the horn.

C190A02A-GAT If you are considering towing with your car, you should first check with your Province Department of Motor Vehicles to determine their legal requirements.Since laws vary from province to prov- ince, the requirements for towing trail- ers, cars, other types of vehicles, orapparatus may differ. Ask your Hyundai dealer for further details before towing.
CAUTION:
Do not do any towing with your carduring its first 2,000 km (1,200 miles) in order to allow the engine to prop-erly break in. Failure to heed this caution may result in serious en- gine or transaxle damage.

Use a quality non-equalizing hitch whichdistributes the tongue load uniformly throughout the chassis. The hitch should be bolted securely to the car and installed by a qualified technician. C190F01E-GAT Trailer or Vehicle Towing Tips
1. Before towing, check hitch and safety chain connections as well as proper operation of the trailer run- ning lights, brake lights, and turn signals.
2. Always drive your vehicle at a mod- erate speed (Less than 100 km/H)
3. Trailer towing requires more fuel than normal conditions.
4. To maintain engine braking effi-
ciency and electrical charging per-formance, do not use fifth gear (manual transmission) or overdrive (automatic transmission).
5. Always secure items in the trailer to prevent load shift while driving.
6. Check the condition and air pres- sure of all tires on the trailer and your vehicle. Low tire pressure can seriously affect the handling. Alsocheck the spare tire.
7. The vehicle/trailer combination is
more affected by crosswind andbuffeting. When being passed by a large ve-hicle, keep a constant speed andsteer straight ahead. If there is too much wind buffeting, slow down to get out of the other vehicle's airturbulence.
8. When parking your vehicle and trailer,
especially on a hill, be sure to followall the normal precautions. Turn your front wheel into the curb, set the parking brake firmly, and put thetransmission in 1st or Reverse (manual) or Park (automatic). In addition, place wheel chocks at eachof the trailer's tires.
9. If the trailer has electric brakes,
start your vehicle and trailer mov-ing, and then apply the trailer brake controller by hand to be sure the brakes are working. This lets youcheck your electrical connection at the same time.
10.During your trip, check occasion- ally to be sure that the load issecure, and that the lights and any trailer brakes are still working.
11.Avoid jerky starts, sudden accel- eration or sudden stops.
12.Avoid sharp turns and rapid lane changes. 13. Avoid holding the brake pedal down
too long or too frequently. This couldcause the brakes to overheat, re- sulting in reduced braking efficiency.
14.When going down a hill, shift into a lower gear and use the engine brak-ing effect. When ascending a long grade,downshift the transmission to a lower gear and reduce speed to reduce chances of engine over-loading and/or overheating.
15.If you have to stop while going
uphill, do not hold the vehicle inplace by pressing on the accelera- tor. This can cause the automatic transmission to overheat. Use theparking brake or footbrake.
NOTE: When towing check transaxle fluid more frequently.

If Engine Doesn't Turn Over or Turns Over Slowly
1. If your car has an automatic transaxle, be sure the gear selector lever is in "N" or "P" and the emer-gency brake is set.
2. Check the battery connections to be
sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out when you operatethe starter, the battery is discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or pull the vehicle to start it. See instructions for "Jump Starting". D010C01A-AAT If Engine Turns Over Normally but Does Not Start

WARNING:
If the engine will not start, do not push or pull the car to start it. This could result in a collision or causeother damage. In addition, push or pull starting may cause the cata- lytic converter to be overloaded andcreate a fire hazard.
1. Check fuel level.2. With the key in the "OFF" position,check all connectors at ignition coilsand spark plugs(For Gasoline En-gine) or check all connectors at glow plug and glow plug relay(For Diesel Engine). Reconnect any thatmay be disconnected or loose.

check for coolant leaking from the radiator, hoses or under the car. (Ifthe air conditioning had been in use, it is normal for cold water to be draining from it when you stop).
WARNING:
While the engine is running, keephair, hands, and clothing away from moving parts such as the fan and drive belts to prevent injury. 5. If the water pump drive belt is broken
or coolant is leaking out, stop the engine immediately and call the near- est Hyundai dealer for assistance.
WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. This can allow coolant to be blown out of the open-ing and cause serious burns.
WARNING (Diesel only):
Never work on injection system withengine running or within 30 sec- onds after shutting off engine. High pressure pump, rail, injectors andhigh pressure pipes are subject to high pressure even after the engine stopped. The fuel jet produced byfuel leaks may cause serious in- jury, if it touch the body. People using pacemakers should not movethan 30cm closer to the ECU or wiring harness within the engine

6. If you cannot find the cause of the overheating, wait until the engine temperature has returned to nor-mal. Then, if the engine coolant has been lost, carefully add coolant to the reservoir (page 6-16) to bringthe fluid level in the reservoir up to the halfway mark. CAUTION:
Serious loss of engine coolant indi- cates there is a leak in the coolingsystem and this should be checked as soon as possible by a Hyundai dealer.

IF YOUR VEHICLE MUST BE TOWED

Also, profes-sionals are generally aware of local laws governing towing. In any case, rather than risk damage to your car, itis suggested that you show this infor- mation to the tow truck operator. Be sure that a safety chain system is usedand that all local laws are observed. It is recommended that your vehicle be towed with a wheel lift and dollies orflatbed equipment with all the wheels off the ground.

F060M01A-AAT o Engine Oil and Filter The engine oil and filter should be changed at the intervals specified in the maintenance schedule. If the car is being driven in severe conditions,more frequent oil and filter changes are required. F060B01A-AAT
o Drive Belts Inspect all drive belts for evidence of cuts, cracks, excessive wear or oil and replace if necessary. Drive belts should be checked periodically forproper tension and adjusted as neces- sary. F060C01A-AAT
o Fuel Filter
A clogged filter can limit the speed at
which the vehicle may be driven, dam-age the emission system and cause hard starting. If an excessive amountof foreign matter accumulates in the fuel tank, the filter may require re- placement more frequently. After installing a new filter, run the
engine for several minutes, and checkfor leaks at the connections. Fuel fil- ters should be installed by trained technicians. WARNING (Diesel only):
