If your Lexus is transported by a flat
bed truck, it should be tied down at
the locations shown in the illustra-
tion.
If you use chains or cables to tie
down your vehicle, the angles
shaded in black must be 45 .
Do not overly tighten the tie downs
or the vehicle may be damaged.
■Before emergency towing Release the parking brake.
Shift the shift lever to N.
Gasoline vehicles: Turn the “START STOP ENGINE” switch to ACCESSORY
(engine off) or IGNITION ON (engine running) mode.
Hybrid vehicles: Turn the “POWER” swit ch to ACCESSORY (hybrid system off)
or ON (hybrid system operating) mode.

If a warning light turns on or a warning buzzer
sounds
The following warning indicates a possible problem in the brake system.
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your Lexus
dealer.
*: Brake system warning buzzer (hybrid vehicles): When there is a possible problem that could affect braking performance, the
warning light will come on an d a warning buzzer will sound.

■Brake system warning light operation (hybrid vehicles)
Although depressing the brake pedal repeatedly may cause the red brake system
warning light to turn on and the buzzer to sound, this does not indicate a malfunction.
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes
on or flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, but then goes off, this does
not necessarily indicate a malfunction in the system. However, if this
continues to occur, have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
Stop the vehicle immediately. Cont inuing to drive the vehicle may
be dangerous.

If you have a flat tire
●Stop the vehicle on a hard, flat surface.
●Set the parking brake.
●Shift the shift lever to P.
●Stop the engine .
●Turn on the emergency flashers. (P. 74 8 )
Remove the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire provided.

CAUTION
■If you have a flat tire
Do not continue driving with a flat tire.
Driving even a short distance with a flat tire can damage the tire and the wheel
beyond repair, which could result in an accident.

CAUTION
■When using the compact spare tire
●Remember that the compact spare tire provided is specifically designed for use
with your vehicle. Do not use your compact spare tire on another vehicle.
●Do not use more than one compact spare tire simultaneously.
●Replace the compact spare tire with a standard tire as soon as possible.
●Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shifting opera-
tions that cause sudden engine braking.
■When the compact spare tire is attached
The vehicle speed may not be correctly detected, and the following systems may
not operate correctly:
■Speed limit when using the compact spare tire
Do not drive at speeds in excess of 50 mph (80 km/h) when a compact spare tire
is installed on the vehicle.
The compact spare tire is not designed for driving at high speeds. Failure to
observe this precaution may lead to an accident causing death or serious injury.
■After using the tools and jack
Before driving, make sure all the tools and jack are securely in place in their stor-
age location to reduce the possibility of pe rsonal injury during a collision or sudden
braking.

One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
●One or both of the 12-volt battery terminals may be disconnected.
●The 12-volt battery may be discharged. ( P. 813)
●There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system.
Contact your Lexus dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, or if repair proce-
dures are unknown.
When the engine does not start, the following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the engine if the “START STOP ENGINE” switch
is functioning normally:
Set the parking brake.
Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the “START STOP ENGINE” switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Press and hold the “START STOP ENGINE” switch for about 15 sec-
onds while depressing the brake pedal firmly.
Even if the engine can be started using the above steps, the system may be
malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
The starter motor does not turn ov er, the interior lights and head-
lights do not turn on, or the horn does not sound.

One of the following may be the cause of the problem:

When the hybrid system does not start, the following steps can be used as
an interim measure to start the hybr id system if the “POWER” switch is
functioning normally:
Set the parking brake.
Shift the shift lever to P.
Turn the “POWER” switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Press and hold the “POWER” swit ch for about 15 seconds while
depressing the brake pedal firmly.
Even if the hybrid system can be star ted using the above steps, the system
may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
The interior lights and headlights do not turn on, or the horn does
not sound.

If the shift lever cannot be shifted from P
Set the parking brake.
Turn the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch to ACCES-
SORY mode.
Depress the brake pedal.
Pry the cover up with a flathead
screwdriver or equivalent tool.
To prevent damage to the cover, cover
the tip of the screwdriver with a rag.
Press the shift lock override but-
ton.
The shift lever can be shifted while the
button is pressed.
If the shift lever cannot be shifted with your foot on the brake pedal,
there may be a problem with the shift lock system (a system to prevent
accidental operation of the shift lever). Have the vehicle inspected by
your Lexus dealer immediately.
The following steps may be used as an emergency measure to ensure
that the shift lever can be shifted:
