WARNING
The engine compartment contains many mechanisms and fluids that may move suddenly, become hot, or become electrically energize d. To avoid death or serious injury, observe the following precautions.
■When working on the engine compartment
●Make sure that the “POWER ON” on the multi-information display and the “READY” indicator are both off.
●Keep hands, clothing and tools away from the moving fan and engine drive belt.
●Be careful not to touch the engine, power co ntrol unit, radiator, exhaust manifold, etc. right after driving as they may be hot. Oil and other fluids may also be hot.
●Do not leave anything that may burn easily, such as paper and rags, in the enginecompartment.
●Do not smoke, cause sparks or expose an open flame to fuel. Fuel fumes are flamma-
ble.
●Take care because brake fluid can harm your hands or eyes and damage painted sur- faces. If fluid gets on your hands or in your eyes, flush the affected area with clean
water immediately. If you still experi ence discomfort, consult a doctor.
■When working near the electric cooling fans or radiator grille
Be sure the power switch is off.
With the power switch in ON mode, the electric cooling fans may automatically start to run if the air conditioning is on and/or the coolant temperature is high. ( P. 411)
■Safety glasses
Wear safety glasses to prevent flying or falling material, fluid spray, etc. from getting in your eyes.
NOTICE
■If you remove the air cleaner filter
Driving with the air cleaner filter removed may cause excessive engine wear due to dirt in the air.
■If the fluid level is low or high
It is normal for the brake fluid level to go down slightly as the brake pads wear or when the fluid level in the accumulator is high.
If the reservoir needs frequent refillin g, it may indicate a serious problem.

Indicates that the outside temperature is approximately
3 C (37F) or lower A buzzer also sounds. Drive carefully, as the road may be icy.
Indicates that the engine oil is scheduled to be changed  Check the engine oil and change if necessary. After changing the engine oil, the oil change system
should be reset. ( P. 406) (The indicator will not work properly unless the oilmaintenance data has been reset.)
(If equipped)
Indicates that the fuel in jectors require maintenance
soon  Have any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus autho- rized repairer, or any reliable repairer replenish the
injector cleaner to the fuel tank and reset the mes- sage as necessary.
Indicates that the engine oil and oil filter should bechanged Have the engine oil and oil filter checked and/or
changed by any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer. Afterchanging the engine oil, the oil change system
should be reset. ( P. 406)

Indicates that the fuel injectors require maintenance
 Have any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus autho- rized repairer, or any reliable repairer replenish theinjector cleaner and reset the message.

*: The engine oil capacity is a reference quantity to be used when changing the engine
oil. Warm up the engine and turn off the hybrid system, wait more than 5 minutes, and
check the oil level on the dipstick.
■Engine oil selection
“Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is used in your Lexus vehicle. Lexus recom-
mends the use of approved “Toyota Genuine Motor Oil”. Another motor oil of
matching quality can also be used.
Oil grade:
0W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30:
API grade SL “Energy-Conserving”, SM “Energy-Conserving” or SN
“Resource-Conserving”; or ILSAC multigrade engine oil
15W-40:
API grade SL, SM or SN multigrade engine oil
Recommended viscosity (SAE):
SAE 0W-20 is filled into your Lexus
vehicle at manufacturing, and the
best choice for good fuel economy
and good starting in cold weather.
If SAE 0W-20 oil is not available,
SAE 5W-30 oil may be used. How-
ever, it should be replaced with SAE
0W-20 at the next oil change.
If you use SAE 10W-30 or a higher
viscosity engine oil in extremely low
temperatures, the engine may
become difficult to start, so SAE
0W-20 or 5W-30 engine oil is rec-
ommended.
