■The power outlet can be used when
The engine is running.
■The indicator light changes according to the maximum available capacity as fol-
lows:
■When the power outlet is in operation
The sound of the cooling fan may be heard from the right side of the luggage com-
partment. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.
■If the engine is started with the power outlet main switch on
The maximum capacity of the power supply may decrease to below the standard, or
may be cut off completely, even when the vehicle is stationary.
■The protection circuit may be activated to cut the power supply if any of the fol-
lowing conditions apply:
●The engine is started with the power outlet main switch on.
●Use of electrical appliances exceeding the maximum capacity is attempted.
●A sound may be heard when the protection circuit is activated. This is normal
and does not indicate a malfunction.
●Electrical appliances, which consume power exceeding 100 W, have been used
continuously for a long time period.
●The total power usage by all electrical features (headlights, air conditioning,
etc.) has exceeded the total vehicle maximum for an extended period of time.120 V AC/400 W

Maintenance and care
GX460_CANADA (OM60F29U)
■High-intensity discharge (HID) headlights
If voltage to the high-intensity discharge bulbs is insufficient, the light may not come
on, or may go out temporarily. The high-intensity discharge bulbs will come on
when normal power is restored.
■LED light bulbs
The side turn signal lights, tail/stop lights , license plate light and high mounted stop-
light consist of a number of LEDs. If any LEDs burn out, take your vehicle to your
Lexus dealer to have the light replaced.
If two or more LEDs in a stoplight burn out, your vehicle may not conform to local
laws (SAE).
■Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Contact your Lexus dealer for more information in the following situations. Tempo-
rary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not indicate a
malfunction.
●Large drops of water are built up on the inside of the lens.
●Water has built up inside the headlight.

CAUTION
■Replacing light bulbs
●Turn off the headlights. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immediately after turn-
ing off the headlights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
●Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. Hold the bulb by
the plastic or metal portion.
If the bulb is scratched or dropped it may blow out or crack.
●Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failing to do so may
result in heat damage, fire, or water entering the headlight unit. This may damage
the headlights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.
■High-intensity discharge (HID) headlights
●Contact your Lexus dealer before replacing high-intensity discharge headlights
(including light bulbs).
●Do not touch the high-intensity discharge headlight’s high voltage socket when
the headlights are turned on.
An extremely high voltage of 20000 V will be discharged and could result in
death or serious injury by electric shock.
●Do not attempt to repair or disassemble light bulbs, connectors, electric circuits
or component parts.
Doing so may result in serious injury due to electric shock.
■To prevent damage or fire
●Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.
●Check the wattage of the bulb before installing to prevent heat damage.

GX460_CANADA (OM60F29U)
If the engine will not start
If the engine will not start even though correct starting procedures are
being followed (
→P. 179), consider each of the following points:
■The engine will not start even when the starter motor operates
normally
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
●There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle.
● The engine may be flooded.
Try to restart the engine once more following correct starting
procedures. ( →P. 1 7 9 )
● There may be a malfunction in the engine immobilizer system.
(→ P. 1 1 4 )
■ The starter motor turns over slowly, interior lights and headlights
are dim, or the horn does not sound or sounds at a low volume
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
● The battery may be discharged. ( →P. 74 1 )
● The battery terminal connections may be loose or corroded.
■ The starter motor does not turn over
The engine starting system may be malfunctioning due to an electri-
cal problem such as an open circuit or a blown fuse. However, an
interim measure is available to start the engine. ( →P. 7 3 8 )

GX460_CANADA (OM60F29U)
■Starting the engine when the battery is discharged
The engine cannot be started by push-starting.
■To prevent battery discharge
●Turn off the headlights and the audio system while the engine is off.
●Turn off any unnecessary electrical components when the vehicle is running at a
low speed for an extended period, such as in heavy traffic, etc.
Start the engine of the second vehicle. Increase the engine
speed slightly and maintain at that level for approximately 5
minutes to recharge the battery of your vehicle.
Open and close any of the doors of your vehicle with the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch off.
Maintain the engine speed of the second vehicle and start the
engine of your vehicle by turning the “ENGINE START STOP”
switch to IGNI TION ON mode.
Once your vehicle’s engine has started, remove the jumper
cables in the exact reverse order in which they were con-
nected.
