Turn the engine switch off.
Open the glove box. Slide off the
damper.
Push in the glove box on the vehicle’s
outer side to disconnect the claws.
Then pull out the glove box and dis-
connect the lower claws.
Remove the cover.
Air conditioning filter
The air conditioning filter must be changed regularly to maintain air condi-
tioning efficiency.

Remove the filter cover.
Unlock the filter cover.
Move the filter cover in the direc-
tion of the arrow, and then pull it
out of the claws.
Remove the filter case.
There may be foreign objects on top of the air conditioning filter.
Remove the air conditioning filter
from the filter case and replace it
with a new one.
The “ UP” marks shown on the filter and the filter case should be pointing up.
■Checking interval
Inspect and replace the air conditioning filt er according to the maintenance schedule. In dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic fl ow, early replacement may be required. (For
scheduled maintenance information, please refer to the “Lexus Service Booklet” or “Lexus Warranty Booklet”.)
■If air flow from the vents decreases dramatically
The filter may be clogged. Check the filter and replace if necessary.
■Air conditioning filter with deodorizing function
When fragrances are placed in your vehicle, the deodorizing effect may become signifi-
cantly weakened in a short period.
When an air conditioning odor comes out cont inuously, replace the air conditioning filter.

NOTICE
■When using the air conditioning system
Make sure that a filter is always installed. Using the air conditioning system without a filter may cause damage to the system.
■To prevent damage to the filter cover
When moving the filter cover in the direction of
arrow to release the fitting, pay attention not to apply excessive force to the claws. Otherwise,the claws may be damaged.

Change the rest position of the windshield wipers to the service position using
the wiper lever and then lift a windshield wiper. ( P. 283)
While pressing and holding the
wiper blade lock release button,
remove the wiper blade.
When performing this operation, make sure to hold the hook portion of thewiper arm securely.
While disengaging the cap lock,
using a tool such as a flathead
screwdriver if necessary, remove the
wiper insert.
Hold the cap on the end of the wiper insert when removing the wiper insert.
(The cap is integrated into the wiper insert.)
If using a screwdriver, make sure to wrap
its tip with tape to protect the wiper blade.
Install a new wiper insert.
Make sure to push the wiper insert firmly until the cap lock is engaged.
After installation, check that th e cap lock is locked securely.
Install the wiper blade to the wiper arm.
Make sure to push the wiper blade until it is locked.
When performing this operation, make sure to hold the hook portion of the wiper arm
securely.
After installation, check that the wiper blade is locked securely.

After replacing the wiper inserts, place the windshield wipers on the wind-
shield and lower them to the retracted position. ( P. 284)
Do not drive the vehicle with the windshield wipers lifted.
■Replacing the rear wiper insert
Have the rear wiper insert replaced by an y authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■Handling of the windshield wiper blades and inserts
Improper handling of the windshield wiper blades and inserts may cause them to be damaged. If it is difficult to follow the wi per blade and insert replacement procedure pre- cisely, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional.

●Flathead screwdriver
●Lithium battery CR2032
Take out the mechanical key.
Remove the cover.
To prevent damage to the key, cover the tip of the flathead screwdriver with atape.
Remove the battery cover.
Electronic key battery
Replace the battery with a new one if it is depleted.
You will need the following items:

Remove the depleted battery.
Insert a new battery with the “+” termi-
nal facing up.
■Use a CR2032 lithium battery
●Batteries can be purchased at any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional, local electrical appliance shops or camera stores.
●Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
●Dispose of used batteries according to the local laws.
■When the card key battery needs to be replaced (if equipped)
The battery for the card key is available only at your Lexus dealer. Your Lexus dealer can replace the battery for you.
■If the electronic key battery is depleted
The following symptoms may occur:
●The smart entry & start system and wireless remote control will not function properly.
●The operational range will be reduced.

■Removed battery and other parts
These parts are small and if swallowed by a child, they can cause choking. Keep away from children. Failure to do so could result in death or serious injury.
■Certification for the smart entry & start system
CAUTION RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE.DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS
NOTICE
■For normal operation after replacing the battery
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents:
●Always work with dry hands. Moisture may cause the battery to rust.
●Do not touch or move any other component inside the remote control.
●Do not bend either of the battery terminals.

Turn the engine switch off.
Open the fuse box cover.
Engine compartment
Push the tab in and lift the lid off.
Left side instrument panel (left-hand drive vehicles)
Remove the lid.
Left side instrument panel (right-hand drive vehicles)
Remove the lid.
Checking and replacing fuses
If any of the electrical components do not operate, a fuse may have blown. If
this happens, check and repl ace the fuses as necessary.

Remove the fuse with the pullout
tool.
Only some fuses can be removed
using the pullout tool.
Check if the fuse is blown.
Normal fuse
Blown fuse
Replace the blown fuse with a new fuse of an appropriate amperage rat-
ing. The amperage rating can be found on the fuse box lid.

vehicle. This illustration shows a com- mon type of fuse used on this vehicle.

■After a fuse is replaced
●If the lights do not turn on even after the fuse has been replaced, a bulb may need replacement. ( P. 643)
●If the replaced fuse blows again, have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.
■If there is an overload in a circuit
The fuses are designed to blow, protecting the wiring harness from damage.
■When replacing light bulbs
Lexus recommends that you us e genuine Lexus products designed for this vehicle. Because certain bulbs are connected to circuits designed to prevent overload, non-gen-
uine parts or parts not designed for this vehicle may be unusable.
WARNING
■To prevent system breakdowns and vehicle fire
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may cause damage to the vehicle, and possibly a fire or injury.
●Never use a fuse of a higher amperage rating than that indicated, or use any otherobject in place of a fuse.
●Always use a genuine Lexus fuse or equivalent.
Never replace a fuse with a wire, even as a temporary fix.
●Do not modify the fuses or fuse boxes.
NOTICE
■Before replacing fuses
Have the cause of electrical overload determined and repaired by any authorized
Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional as soon as possible.
