HOW DOES ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
WORK
All-wheel drive uses all four wheels to powerthe vehicle. This increases traction, enablingyou to drive over terrain and road conditionsthat a conventional two-wheel drive vehiclecannot. The AWD system turns on whenneeded and does not require input from you.
There is further information on driving inunique driving conditions. See Driving Hints(page 310).
ALL-WHEEL DRIVE PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Do not becomeoverconfident in the ability of all-wheeldrive vehicles. Although an all-wheel drivevehicle may accelerate better than atwo-wheel drive vehicle in low tractionsituations, it won't stop any faster thantwo-wheel drive vehicles. Always drive ata safe speed.

Using different size tires other than theprovided spare could cause system damageor disable the all-wheel drive system.

LANE CENTERING PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Do not use the systemwhen towing a trailer. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in the loss ofcontrol of your vehicle, personal injury ordeath.
WARNING: Do not use the system ifany changes or modifications to thesteering wheel have been made. Anychanges or modifications to the steeringwheel could affect the functionality orperformance of the system. Failure tofollow this instruction could result in theloss of control of your vehicle, personalinjury or death.
Adaptive cruise control precautions apply tolane centering unless stated otherwise orcontradicted by a lane centering precaution.See Adaptive Cruise Control Precautions(page 256).
LANE CENTERING REQUIREMENTS
You must keep your hands on the steeringwheel at all times.
The system only activates when all of thefollowing occur:
•You have adaptive cruise control withstop and go on.
•You have your hands on the steeringwheel.
•The system detects both lane markings.
Note:If it does not detect valid lanemarkings, the system stays inactive untilvalid markings are available.
Note:You can override the system at anytime by steering your vehicle.
LANE CENTERING LIMITATIONS
Adaptive cruise control limitations apply tolane centering unless stated otherwise orcontradicted by a lane centering limitation.See Adaptive Cruise Control Limitations(page 257).
Lane Centering may not correctly operate inany of the following conditions:
•Your vehicle is not centered in the lane.
•The lane is too narrow or wide.
•The system does not detect at least onelane marking or when lanes merge orsplit.
•Limited steering torque input is applied.
•Areas under construction or newinfrastructure.
•When modifications to the steeringsystem have been made.
•When using a spare tire.
•In high wind conditions.
Note:The driving assistance torque is limitedand may not be sufficient for all drivingsituations such as driving through tightcurves or driving through curves at highspeeds.
Note:In exceptional conditions, the systemmay deviate from the center line.

Your vehicle may have a temporary orconventional spare tire. A temporary sparetire is different in diameter or width,tread-type, or is from a different manufacturerthan the road tires on your vehicle. Consultinformation on the tire label or SafetyCompliance label for limitations when using.
When towing a trailer:
•Obey country specific regulations fortowing a trailer.
•Do not drive faster than 70 mph(113 km/h) during the first 500 mi(800 km).
•Do not make full-throttle starts.
•Check your hitch, electrical connectionsand trailer wheel lug nuts thoroughly afteryou have traveled 50 mi (80 km).
•When stopped in congested or heavytraffic during hot weather, place thetransmission in park (P) to aid engine andtransmission cooling and to help A/Cperformance.
•Turn off the speed control with heavyloads or in hilly terrain. The speed controlmay turn off when you are towing onlong, steep slopes.
•Shift to a lower gear when driving downa long or steep hill. Do not continuouslyapply the brakes, as they may overheatand become less effective.
•If your transmission has Grade Assist orTow/Haul, use this feature when towing.This provides engine braking and helpseliminate excessive transmission shiftingfor optimum fuel economy andtransmission cooling.
•Your vehicle has AdvanceTrac with rollstability control. When towing a trailer,additional loads could cause theAdvanceTrac system to engage duringcornering maneuvers. Reduce corneringspeeds to make sure that you canmaintain control of the vehicle and trailerif the AdvanceTrac system engages.
•Allow more distance for stopping with atrailer attached. Anticipate stops andgradually brake.
•Avoid parking on a slope. However, ifyou must park on a slope, turn thesteering wheel to point your vehicle tiresaway from traffic flow, set the parkingbrake, place the transmission in park (P)and place wheel chocks in front and backof the trailer wheels.
Note:Chocks are not included with yourvehicle.

•Do not allow the static water level to riseabove the bottom edge of the rearbumper.

LOCATING THE TIRE LABEL
The tire label or safety certification labelis on the driver side B-pillar or the edgeof the driver door. It contains informationon the recommended front and rear tireinflation pressures. See Locating theSafety Compliance Certification Labels(page 294).

QUALITY GRADES
Tire Quality Grades apply to newpneumatic passenger car tires. TheQuality grades can be found whereapplicable on the tire sidewall betweentread shoulder and maximum sectionwidth. For example: Treadwear 200Traction AA Temperature A.
These Tire Quality Grades aredetermined by standards that the UnitedStates Department of Transportation hasset.
Tire Quality Grades apply to newpneumatic passenger car tires. They donot apply to deep tread, winter-typesnow tires, space-saver or temporaryuse spare tires, light truck or LT typetires, tires with nominal rim diameters of10 to 12 inches or limited production tires
as defined in Title 49 Code of FederalRegulations Part 575.104 (c)(2).
U.S. Department of Transportation Tirequality grades: The U.S. Department ofTransportation requires us to give youthe following information about tiregrades exactly as the government haswritten it.
Treadwear
The treadwear grade is a comparativerating based on the wear rate of the tirewhen tested under controlled conditionson a specified government test course.For example, a tire graded 150 wouldwear 1½ times as well on thegovernment course as a tire graded 100.The relative performance of tiresdepends upon the actual conditions oftheir use, however, and may departsignificantly from the norm due tovariations in driving habits, servicepractices, and differences in roadcharacteristics and climate.

WARNING: The traction gradeassigned to this tire is based onstraight-ahead braking traction tests,and does not include acceleration,cornering, hydroplaning or peaktraction characteristics.

It is recommended that the two fronttires or two rear tires generally bereplaced as a pair if the worn tires stillhave usable depth.
To avoid potential All-Wheel Drive (AWD)malfunction or (AWD) system damage,it is recommended to replace all fourtires rather than mixing significantly worntires with new tires.
The tire pressure sensors mounted inthe wheels (originally installed on yourvehicle) are not designed to be used inaftermarket wheels.
The use of wheels or tires notrecommended may affect the operationof your tire pressure monitoring system.
If the tire pressure monitoring system
indicator is flashing, your system ismalfunctioning. Your replacement tiremight be incompatible with your tirepressure monitoring system, or somecomponent of the system may bedamaged.
Age
WARNING: Tires degrade overtime depending on many factors suchas weather, storage conditions, andconditions of use (load, speed, inflationpressure) the tires experiencethroughout their lives.In general, tires should be replacedafter six years regardless of treadwear. However, heat caused by hotclimates or frequent high loadingconditions can accelerate the agingprocess and may require tires to bereplaced more frequently.You should replace your spare tirewhen you replace the road tires orafter six years due to aging even if it
has not been used.
U.S. DOT Tire Identification Number
Both United States and Canada Federalregulations require tire manufacturersto place standardized information on thesidewall of all tires. This informationidentifies and describes the fundamentalcharacteristics of the tire and alsoprovides a U.S. DOT Tire IdentificationNumber for safety standard certificationand in case of a recall.
This begins with the letters DOT andindicates that the tire meets all federalstandards. The next two numbers orletters are the plant code designatingwhere it was manufactured, the next twoare the tire size code and the last fournumbers represent the week and yearthe tire was built. For example, the
numbers 317 mean the 31st week of1997. After 2000, the numbers go to fourdigits. For example, 2501 means the25th week of 2001. The numbers inbetween are identification codes usedfor traceability. This information is usedto contact customers if a tire defectrequires a recall.

•Remove the snow chains when they areno longer needed. Do not use snowchains on dry roads.
•If a temporary spare wheel is mountedon your vehicle, do not use snow chainson the axle with the temporary sparewheel.
•Use snow chains that fit against thesidewall of the tire to prevent the chainsfrom touching the wheel rims orsuspension.

If you feel a sudden vibration or ridedisturbance while driving, or you suspectyour tire or vehicle has been damaged,immediately reduce your speed. Drivewith caution until you can safely pull offthe road. Stop and inspect the tires fordamage. If a tire is under-inflated ordamaged, deflate it, remove the wheeland replace it with your spare tire andwheel. If you cannot detect a cause,have the vehicle towed to the nearestrepair facility or tire dealer to have thevehicle inspected.
Tire and Wheel Alignment
A bad jolt from hitting a curb or potholecan cause the front end of your vehicleto become misaligned or cause damageto your tires. If your vehicle seems topull to one side when you are driving,the wheels could be out of alignment.Have an authorized dealer check thewheel alignment periodically.
Wheel misalignment in the front or therear can cause uneven and rapidtreadwear of your tires and should becorrected by an authorized dealer.
INSPECTING THE WHEEL VALVE
STEMS
Check the valve stems for holes, cracks,or cuts that could permit air leakage.
TIRE ROTATION
WARNING: If the tire label showsdifferent tire pressures for the front andrear tires and the vehicle has a tirepressure monitoring system, then you needto update the settings for the systemsensors. Always perform the system resetprocedure after tire rotation. If you do notreset the system, it may not provide a lowtire pressure warning when necessary.
Rotating your tires at the recommendedinterval will help your tires wear more evenly,providing better tire performance and longertire life.
Note:If your tires show any uneven wearhave the alignment checked by anauthorized dealer before rotating tires.
Note:If you have a dissimilar spare wheeland tire assembly, it is intended fortemporary use only and should not be usedin a tire rotation.
Note:After having your tires rotated, inflationpressure must be checked and adjusted tothe vehicle requirements.

Your vehicle has also been equipped with aTPMS malfunction indicator to indicate whenthe system is not operating properly. TheTPMS malfunction indicator is combined withthe low tire pressure telltale. When thesystem detects a malfunction, the telltale willflash for approximately one minute and thenremain continuously illuminated. Thissequence will continue upon subsequentvehicle start-ups as long as the malfunctionexists.
When the malfunction indicator is illuminated,the system may not be able to detect orsignal low tire pressure as intended. TPMSmalfunctions may occur for a variety ofreasons, including the installation ofreplacement or alternate tires or wheels onthe vehicle that prevent the TPMS fromfunctioning properly. Always check the TPMSmalfunction telltale after replacing one ormore tires or wheels on your vehicle toensure that the replacement or alternate tiresand wheels allow the TPMS to continue tofunction properly.
WARNING: Changes or modificationsnot expressively approved by the partyresponsible for compliance could void theuser's authority to operate the equipment.The term "IC:" before the radio certificationnumber only signifies that Industry Canadatechnical specifications were met.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING
SYSTEM PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: The tire pressuremonitoring system is not a substitute formanually checking tire pressures. Youshould periodically check tire pressuresusing a pressure gauge. Failure to correctlymaintain tire pressures could increase therisk of tire failure, loss of control, vehiclerollover and personal injury.
Note:The use of tire sealants can damagethe tire pressure monitoring system.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING
SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
When the outside temperature dropssignificantly, the tire pressure could decreaseand activate the low tire pressure warninglamp.
The warning lamp could also illuminate whenyou use a spare wheel, or tire sealant fromthe inflator kit.
