Switching from the list to the smart
speller
X
Select Backfrom the list.

COMAND controller.
Searching
Searching with the smart speller
X If the list is displayed, switch to the smart
speller first.
X To change the language for the smart
speller: select0014.
X To change the character set for the
smart speller: select0001.
Depending on the previous setting, you will
change to letters with special characters or
to numbers with special characters.
X Entering characters: select the charac-
ters for the required entry one after the
other or enter them using the number keys
on the number keypad.
X To delete individual characters: select
0004 and briefly press 0017.

X Press the 0013button next to the
COMAND controller.
Each time you enter or delete a character,
the closest match will be displayed at the
top of the list.
X To delete an entire entry: select0004and
press and hold down 0017until the entry has
been deleted.
or
X Press the 0013button next to the
COMAND controller and hold it until the
entire entry is deleted.
X To complete the search: switch from the
smart speller to the list.
The entry at the top of the list is automati-
cally highlighted. X
To return to the address book: if neces-
sary, switch from the list to the smart
speller and select 0002in the smart speller.

X Press the 0001back button next to the
COMAND controller.
Searching using the list
X Switch to the list when the smart speller is
displayed (Y page 152).

Deleting an entry X
Search for the desired entry (Y page 152).
X Select Options 0004Delete.

The entry will either be deleted or not,
depending on your selection.
i The phone book entry from the mobile
phone is deleted from the COMAND
address book but not from the mobile

Alphabetical track selection iPod
®
and MP3 players
i This function is available for alphabeti-
cally sorted categories and folders. This
function is not available for albums or play-
lists, for example.
X Selec tacategory, e.g. Artists.
The available artists are displayed.
X Press the number key corresponding to the
firs tletter of the artist's name once or sev-
eral times to select the desired artist (e.g.
for an artist beginning with the letter "C",
press number key 0002three times).
The available letters are listed at the lower
edge of the display.
The first entry found that matches the letter
entered appears at the top of the list.
i If there is no entry beginning with the let-
ter entered, the last entry beginning with
the previous letter is shown at the top of
the list.
i For iPod ®
and MP3 players, the quality of
the search results is highly dependen ton
the version and language variant of the
software (e.g. iTunes ®
version) used to

i Depending on the DVD, the menu items
Back (to the movie),
Play, 0021, 0022orGo up may not func-
tion at all or not at certain points in the DVD
menu. To indicate this, the 0008icon appears
in the display.
X To confirm the selection again: choose
Select.
COMAND implements the action or dis-
plays a submenu represented by the selec-
ted menu item in the DVD menu. If
required, choose one of the further options.
COMAND then switches back to the DVD
menu.
Stopping afilm or skipping to the begin-
ning or end of ascene
X Select any men uitem from the DVD menu.
The menu appears.
X To stop a film: selectStopfrom the menu. X
To skip to the end of a scene:
select 0022from the menu.
X To ski pto the beginning of ascene:
select 0021from the menu.
Moving up one level in the DVD menu
X Press the 0001back button next to the
COMAND controller.

Going back to the film

Setting the language and audio format i
This function is not available on all DVDs.
Where available, you can set the DVD menu
language and the audio language or audio
format. The number of possible settings is
dependent on the DVD content. It is possi-
ble that the settings may also be accessed
in the DVD menu (Y page 195).
X Show the menu system (Y page 194).
X Select DVD-V0004DVD functions.
X Select Menu language orAudio lan‐
guage.
In both cases, a menu appears after a few
seconds. The 0023dot in front of an entry
indicates the currently selected language.
X To change the setting: turn002800130029 or slide

Subtitles and camera angle i
These functions are not available on all
DVDs. The numbe rofsubtitle languages
and camera angles available depends on
the content of the DVD. It is possible that
the settings may also be accessed in the
DVD menu (Y page 195).
X Show the menu system (Y page 194).
X Select DVD-V0004 DVD functions .
X Select Subtitles orCamera angle.
In both cases, a menu appears. The 0023dot
in front of an entry indicates the current
setting.
X To change the setting: turn002800130029 or slide
001F0013000D until the desired setting is reached.
X To save the setting: press0017.
X To exit the menu: press0017.
Interactive content DVDs can contain interactive content (e.g. a
video game). In a vide ogame, you may be able
to influence events by selecting and trigger-
ing actions. The type and number of actions
depend on the DVD.
X To select an action: slide001F0013000D or002B0013002C .
X To trigger an action: press0017.
A menu appears and the first entry,
Select , is highlighted.
