Trailer towing

You’ll need more passing distance up ahead when you’re towing a trailer. And, because you’re a good deal longer, you’ll need to gomuch farther beyond the passed vehicle before you can return to your lane. Hold the bottom of the steering wheel with one hand. Then, to move the trailer to the left,just move that hand to the left. To move the trailer to the right, move your hand to the right. Always back up sl
owly and, if possible,
have someone guide you. When you’re turning with a trailer, make wider than normal turns to help prevent the trailer from striking shoulders, curbs, roadsigns, trees or other objects.
Avoid jerky or sudden maneuvers. Signal well in advance. Towing a trailer puts additional burden on the engine and transaxle,
which may cause over-
heating. Following ar

reduce overheating: When towing at high al
titudes, engine coolant
and automatic transaxle oil will overheat at a lower temperature than at normal altitudes. If you turn your engine off immediately aftertowing at high altitude
on steep uphill grades,
your vehicle may show
signs similar to over-
heating. To avoid this
, let the engine run
while parked (preferably on level ground) with the automatic transaxle in the “P” (PARK) position for a few minutes beforeturning the engine off.
 If the engine coolant temperature indica- tor flashes on the information screen in the multi-information display or the engine power drops suddenly, refer to “Engine overheati
ng” on page 8-4.
 If the warning display or warning display illuminates, re
fer to “Warning dis-
play” on page 5-72, 5-79.
Reduce speed and downshift before you start down a long or steep downgrade. If you don’t downshift, over using the brakes can cause reduced brake efficiency. You can tow in “D” (DRIVE) position. You may want to shift the selector lever to the 3rd or a lower position, under heavy loads or hilly conditions. Always place chocks or blocks under both the vehicle and trailer wheels when parking. Besure that the parking brake is firmly set and that the selector lever is in the “P” (PARK) position. Avoid parki
ng on a hill with a
trailer, but if it cannot be avoided, do so only after performing the following:

1. Park the vehicle on a safe, flat and level place. 2. Set the parking brake firmly.3. Move the selector
lever to the “P”
(PARK) position, and stop the engine. 4. Turn on the hazard warning lights and setup a warning sign, such as a warning tri- angle or flashing signal lamp, at an ade- quate distance from the vehicle, and haveall your passengers leave the vehicle. 5. Take out the tire repair kit. Make sure that the compressor switch isOFF.
6. Shake the tire sealant bottle well. 7. Take the valve cap (D) off the tire valve (E).
8. Unwind the bottle hose (F) from around the sealant bottle. 9. Pull out the compressor’s hose (G) from the bottom of the compressor and securely attach it to the valve (H) of the bottle byturning it clockwise until tight.
 Immediately wash clothes contaminated with tire sealant. The tire sealant may not beremoved from the clothes.NOTE
 Do not pull out an object, such as a nail or screw, that penetrat
es the punctured tire.

positioned away from the point where thetire touches the ground. If the valve is near the point where the tire touches the ground, the sealant may not enter the tire easily.  Check the tire sealant’

larly, and be sure to
purchase a new one from

How to change a tire

17. After driving for 10 minutes or 3 miles (5
km), park the vehicl
e in a safe place.
Remove the air compressor from the stowed position. Check the tire pressureusing the air pressure gauge on the com- pressor. If the tire pressure has not dropped, the emergency repair procedureis complete. Proceed to step 19. If the tire pressure is insufficient, inflate the tire to the specified pressure again anddrive the vehicle carefully without exceeding a speed of 50 mph (80 km/h). Before driving, make sure that the com-pressor is stowed.
18. After driving for 10 minutes or 3 miles (5
km) again, check the tire pressure usingthe air pressure gauge on the compressor. If the tire pressure has not dropped, the emergency repair procedure is complete.Before driving, make sure that the com- pressor is stowed. You must still not exceed a speed of 50 mph (80 km/h).Observe local speed limits.

Before changing a tire,
first stop your vehicle

the tire sealant. Do not drive the vehicle anyfurther. Contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.

 If the tire pressure has dropped below the specified level when you check it at the end of the repair procedure, do not drive the vehicle any further.

 In cold conditions (when the ambient tem- perature is 32 °F {0 °C} or lower), the time and driving distance required until comple- tion of the repair can
become longer than in
warmer conditions, and the tire pressure may drop below the specified level even after you have inflated the tire the second time andsubsequently driven the vehicle. If this hap- pens, inflate the tire to the specified pressure once more, drive for approximately 10 min-utes or 3 miles (5 km), then check the tire pressure again. If the tire pressure has again dropped below the specified level, stop driv-ing the vehicle and contact an authorized Mitsubishi Moto

1. Insert a straight blade (or minus) screw- driver with a cloth over its tip at the points indicated by arrows
and pry gently to
remove the cover (A).
2. Remove the 3 screws (B) and remove the light unit.
3. While holding down the tab (D), pull out the socket (E). 4. Turn the bulb (F) counterclockwise to remove it. 5. To install the bulb, perform the removal steps in reverse.
