High beam assist
The high beam assist system will operate
when the vehicle is driven at approxi-
mately 25 MPH (40 km/h) and above.
If an oncoming vehicle or leading vehicle
appears in front of your vehicle when the
headlight high beam is on, the headlight
will be switched to the low beam auto-
matically.
Precautions on high beam assist:
WARNING
.The high beam assist system is a
convenience but it is not a sub-
stitute for safe driving operation.
The driver should remain alert at
all times, ensure safe driving
practices and switch the high
beam and low beam manually
when necessary.
. The high beam or low beam may
not switch automatically under
the following conditions. Switch
the high beam and low beam
manually.
— During bad weather (rain, fog,
snow, wind, etc.). — When a light source similar to
a headlight or tail light is in
the vicinity of the vehicle.
— When the headlights of the oncoming vehicle or the lead-
ing vehicle are turned off,
when the color of the light is
affected due to foreign mate-
rials on the lights, or when the
light beam is out of position.
— When there is a sudden, con- tinuous change in brightness.
— When driving on a road that passes over rolling hills, or a
road that has level differ-
ences.
— When driving on a road with many curves.
— When a sign or mirror-like surface is reflecting intense
light towards the front of the
vehicle.
— When the container, etc. being towed by a leading vehicle is
reflecting intense light.
— When a headlight on your vehicle is damaged or dirty.
— When the vehicle is leaning at an angle due to a punctured tire, being towed, etc.
. The timing of switching the low
beam and high beam may
change under the following situa-
tions.
— The brightness of the head-
lights of the oncoming vehicle
or leading vehicle.
— The movement and direction of the oncoming vehicle and
the leading vehicle.
— When only one light on the oncoming vehicle or the lead-
ing vehicle is illuminated.
— When the oncoming vehicle or the leading vehicle is a two-
wheeled vehicle.
— Road conditions (incline, curve, the road surface, etc.).
— The number of passengers and the amount of luggage.

Example
High beam assist operations:
To activate the high beam assist system,
turn the headlight switch to the AUTO
position
(orposition, depending on
the model) and push the lever forward
(high beam position). The high beam
assist indicator light in the meter will
illuminate while the headlights are turned
on.
If the high beam assist indicator light
does not illuminate in the above condi-
tion, it may indicate that the system is not
functioning properly. Have the system
checked by a NISSAN dealer.
When the vehicle speed lowers to less than approximately 16 MPH (25 km/h), the
headlight remains the low beam.
To turn off the high beam assist system,
turn the headlight switch to the
position or select the low beam position
by placing the lever in the neutral posi-
tion.

Ambient image sensor maintenance:
The ambient image sensor
for the high
beam assist system is located as shown.
To keep the proper operation of the high
beam assist system and prevent a system
malfunction, be sure to observe the
following:
. Always keep the windshield clean.
. Do not attach a sticker (including
transparent material) or install an
accessory near the ambient image
sensor.
. Do not strike or damage the areas
around the ambient image sensor. Do
not touch the sensor lens that is
located on the ambient image sensor.

If the ambient image sensor is damaged
due to an accident, contact a NISSAN
dealer.
Battery saver system
A chime will sound when the driver side
door is opened with the headlight switch
in the
orposition and the ignition
switch in the OFF or LOCK position.
When the headlight switch is in the
orposition while the ignition switch is in
the ON position, the lights will automati-
cally turn off after a period of time when
the ignition switch has been pushed to
the OFF position.
When the headlight switch remains in the
orposition after the lights auto-
matically turn off, the lights will turn on
when the ignition switch is pushed to the
ON position.
CAUTION
. When you turn on the headlight
switch again after the lights auto-
matically turn off, the lights will
not turn off automatically. Be
sure to turn the headlight switch
to the OFF (if so equipped) or the
AUTO position when you leave
the vehicle for extended periods of time, otherwise the battery will
be discharged.
. Never leave the headlight switch
on when the engine is not run-
ning for extended periods of time
even if the headlights turn off
automatically.
Daytime Running Light (DRL) sys-
tem
The LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
automatically illuminate when the engine
is started and the parking brake is
released. The LED DRL operate with the
headlight switch in the OFF (if so
equipped),
, or AUTO (when the head-
lights are off) position. When you turn the
headlight switch to the
position for
full illumination, the LED lights switch
from LED DRL to the park function.
Type A (if so equipped): If the parking
brake is applied before the engine is
started, the LED DRL do not illuminate.
The LED DRL illuminate when the parking
brake is released. This feature will work in
the
, AUTO or OFF position. The LED
DRL will remain on until the ignition
switch is placed in the OFF position.
Type B (if so equipped): If the parking
brake is applied before the engine is
started, the LED DRL do not illuminate. The LED DRL illuminate when the parking
brake is released. This feature will work in
the AUTO or
position. The LED DRL
will remain on until the ignition switch is
placed in the OFF position.
WARNING
When the LED DRL system is active
with the headlight switch in the OFF
position (if so equipped), tail lights
on your vehicle are not on. It is
necessary at dusk to turn on your
headlights. Failure to do so could
cause an accident injuring yourself
and others.

The instrument brightness control switch
(upperand lower) can be operated
when the ignition switch is in the ON
position.

When the instrument brightness control
switch is operated, the vehicle informa-
tion display switches to the brightness
adjustment mode.
Push the upper switch
to brighten the
meter panel lights and instrument panel
lights.
Push the lower switch
to dim the lights.
If the bar reaches the maximum or
minimum brightness, a chime will sound.
The vehicle information display returns to
the normal display when the instrument
brightness control switch is not operated
for more than 5 seconds.

Example
TURN SIGNAL SWITCH
Turn signal
Move the lever up or down to signal the
turning direction. When the turn is com-
pleted, the turn signals cancel automati-
cally.
Lane change signal
. Move the lever up or down until the
turn signal begins to flash, but the
lever does not latch, to signal a lane
change. Hold the lever until the lane
change is completed.
. Move the lever up or down until the
turn signal begins to flash, but the

lever does not latch, and release the
lever. The turn signal will automati-
cally flash three times.
Choose the appropriate method to signal
a lane change based on road and traffic
conditions.

Example
FOG LIGHT SWITCH (if so equipped)
To turn the fog lights on, turn the head-
light switch to theposition, then turn
the switch to theposition. To turn
them off, turn the switch to the OFF
position.
The headlights must be on with the low
beams selected for the fog lights to
operate. The fog lights automatically turn
off when the high beam headlights are
selected.
SIC4401
The heated steering wheel system is
designed to operate only when the sur-
face temperature of the steering wheel is
below 68°F (20°C).
Push the heated steering wheel switch to
warm the steering wheel after the engine
starts. The indicator light
on the switch
will illuminate.
If the surface temperature of the steering
wheel is below 68°F (20°C), the system will
heat the steering wheel and cycle off and
on to maintain a temperature above 68°F
(20°C). The indicator light will remain on
as long as the system is on.
Push the switch again to turn the heated
steering wheel system off manually. The
HEATED STEERING WHEEL (if so equipped)

close to either the left or the right of a
traveling lane with detectable lane mar-
kers. (See “Lane Departure Warning (LDW)”
(P.5-26).)
The BSW system will turn on the side
indicator lights, on the outside mirrors, if
the radar sensors detect a vehicle in the
detection zone. If the turn signal is
activated in the direction of the detected
vehicle, a chime sounds twice and the
side indicator light will flash. (See “Blind
Spot Warning (BSW)” (P.5-38).)
SIC4454
For driving or starting the vehicle on
snowy roads or slippery areas, push on
the SNOW mode switch. The SNOW mode
indicator will illuminate. When the SNOW
mode is activated, engine output is con-
trolled to avoid wheel spin.
Push off the SNOW mode for normal
driving.
NOTE:
When the SNOW mode is activated, the
I-LI, I-BSI, and ICC systems will be turned
off automatically.
SIC4474
TOW MODE should be used when pulling
a heavy trailer or hauling a heavy load.
Driving the vehicle in TOW MODE with no
trailer/load or light trailer/light load will
not cause any damage. However, fuel
economy may be reduced, and the trans-
mission/engine driving characteristics
may feel unusual.
Push the TOW MODE switch to activate
TOW MODE. The indicator light on the
TOW MODE switch illuminates when TOW
MODE is selected. Push the TOW MODE
switch again to turn TOW MODE OFF.
TOW MODE is automatically canceled
when the ignition switch is placed in the
OFF position.

CAUTION
.Use power outlet with the engine
running to avoid discharging the
vehicle battery.
. Avoid using power outlet when
the air conditioner, headlights or
rear window defroster is on.
. Before inserting or disconnecting
a plug, be sure the electrical
accessory being used is turned
OFF.
. When not in use, be sure to close
the cap. Do not allow water or any
liquid to contact the outlet.

. Do not use the lights for extended

stopped. This could result in a

INTERIOR LIGHT SWITCH
ON switch
When the ON switchis pushed in, the
map lights and rear personal lights will
illuminate.
DOOR OFF switch
When the switchis not pushed in, the
map lights and rear personal lights will
illuminate for a period of time under the
following conditions:
. when the ignition switch is placed in
the OFF position.
. when doors are unlocked by pushing
the UNLOCK
button on the In- telligent Key or door handle request
switch with the ignition switch in the
OFF position.
. when any door is opened and then
closed with the ignition switch in the
OFF position.
. when any door is opened with the
ignition switch in the ACC or ON
position.
— The lights will remain on while the
door is opened. When the door is
closed, the lights will turn off.
When the "Auto Room Lamp" feature is
set to be OFF (see “Vehicle settings” (P.2-
24)), the lights will illuminate under the
following condition:
. any door is opened with the ignition
switch in any position
— remain on while the door is opened.
When the door is closed, the lights
go off.
When the switch
is pushed in, the map
lights and rear personal lights will not
illuminate under the above condition.

The light on the vanity mirror will turn on
when the cover on the vanity mirror is
opened.
When the cover is closed, the light will
turn off.
The lights will also turn off after a
period of time when the lights remain
illuminated to prevent the battery from
becoming discharged.

The cargo light switch has three posi-
tions: ON, centerand OFF.
ON position
When the switch is in the ON position
,
the cargo light will illuminate.
Center position
When the switch is in the center position
, the cargo light will illuminate when the
liftgate is opened.
OFF position
When the switch is in the OFF position
,
the cargo light will not illuminate. The HomeLink® Universal Transceiver
provides a convenient way to consolidate
the functions of up to three individual
hand-held transmitters into one built-in
device.
HomeLink® Universal Transceiver:
.
Will operate most Radio Frequency
(RF) devices such as garage doors,
gates, home and office lighting, entry
door locks and security systems.
. Is powered by your vehicle’s battery.
No separate batteries are required. If
the vehicle’s battery is discharged or is
disconnected, HomeLink® will retain
all programming.
When the HomeLink® Universal Trans-
ceiver is programmed, retain the origi-
nal transmitter for future programming
procedures (Example: new vehicle pur-
chases). Upon sale of the vehicle, the
programmed HomeLink® Universal
Transceiver buttons should be erased
for security purposes. For additional
information, refer to “Programming
HomeLink®” (P.2-84).WARNING
