been tested on a test circuit to ensure the
suspension components “settle” prior to ship-
pin�f. Followin�f this circuit test the odometer
readin�f at the time o�b vehicle shipment is as
listed. Please note a small amount o�b additional
milea�fe may have been added in the subse-
quent onward transportation. In addition your
GT-R has been inspected and tested by the
�bactory test personnel. The titanium mu�b�bler
speci�bications are provided on a label under
the console lid should the mu�b�bler need to be
adjusted. Please do not remove the label �brom
the console lid. See a GT-R certi�bied NISSAN
dealer �bor detailed in�bormation.
I�b a non-�fenuine titanium mu�b�bler is used, the
mu�b�bler may become de�bormed and dama�fe the
underbody due to the hi�fh per�bormance en�fine
reachin�f hi�fh exhaust �fas temperatures
(1,8328F (1,0008C) or more) . The hi�fhest-class
titanium alloy is used �bor �fenuine parts to ensure
the resistance stren�fth and creepin�f character-
istics a�fainst hi�fh exhaust �fas temperature. In
addition, �burther coolin�f e�b�bects are secured by
adoptin�f additional coolin�f �bins and by applyin�f
partial plate thickness reduction. Since �fenuine
titanium mu�b�blers are made o�b titanium alloy, the
sur�bace color will chan�fe dependin�f on the
drivin�f conditions, which is not unusual. Prior to
shippin�f �brom �bactory, all vehicles receivebalance ali�fnin�f �bor en�fine, transmission, and
clutch, as well as quench drivin�f o�b brake pads
and rotors. As a result, the mu�b�bler sur�bace color
may di�b�ber dependin�f on the vehicle.
Never remove the trunk carpet �brom the vehicle
�bor any reason. The carpet insulates the vehicle
interior �brom the heat o�b the mu�b�bler and �brom the
noise o�b the transmission.
Never Allow Oil or Grease to Adhere to the
Titanium Muffler.
I�b the mu�b�bler is heated when oil or �frease adhere
to the mu�b�bler sur�bace, the color o�b this area will
be di�b�berent �brom that o�b the surroundin�f area. To
remove the oil or �frease, check that the sur�bace
temperature o�b the mu�b�bler has cooled, wash the
area with a neutral deter�fent, wipe it with a
brake cleaner-sprayed clean shop cloth and
�fently tap it with a dry shop cloth to dry. Be
care�bul not to allow the brake cleaner to splatter
on rubber parts, bumper, etc.DRY CARBON FIBER PARTS (if so
equipped)
Because o�b the characteristics o�b the material,
the dry carbon �biber parts may turn yellow due to
exposure to ultraviolet rays. The sur�baces o�b dry
carbon �biber parts are coated with a special
ultraviolet protection paint. To maintain the
appearance o�b these parts, it is important to
take proper care o�b them.
NOTICE
.
Do not use compound agents on
clear-coated dry carbon fiber parts
(such as the NISMO model’s bum-
per, side sill protector, rear spoiler,
etc.) .
. Do not use any chemical agents
(wax, coating agent, compound
agent, etc.) on matte-painted dry
carbon fiber parts (such as the rear
diffuser, a rear spoiler that is of
specifications other than NISMO,
etc.) .
. When dry carbon fiber parts become
dirty, prepare a dilute cleaning solu-
tion by mixing one capful of mild
detergent in a bucket of water, and

WARNING
Keep your tires inflated to the correct
tire pressure. Driving with low tire
pressure can damage some powertrain
systems and affect the operation of the
ABS and VDC systems. Low Tire pres-
sure may also cause tire failure and
result in serious personal injury or
death.
. Make sure the tire valve stem cap is installed
and that the valve stem is tight. �fhen
installing the cap, make sure to tighten the cap b�b hand. If a tool is used to tighten the
cap, the cap ma�b be damaged.
. Make sure the wheel nuts are tight.

. Make sure the drive shaft nuts are tight.
. Make sure to replace the grommet seal, the
valve core and the valve cap of the Tire
Pressure Monitoring S�bstem (TPMS) sensor
attached to the wheel ever�b 3 �bears for
performance driving use. Replace them
ever�b 5 �bears even when not engaging in
performance driving. A dirt�b grommet seal
will cause the air leak from the tire.
. Make sure that the nuts and valves that are
attached to the TPMS sensor are tight and
there is no nitrogen leak.
. Use onl�b a NISSAN genuine valve cap or
equivalent.
. Check wheel hub run out and that the wheel
rotates smoothl�b without an�b friction. Check
these with the tires removed whenever an
inspection is performed with the vehicle
jacked up.
. Secure road wheel balance weights with
aluminum tape.
. Check that the wheel nuts are not stripped.
.Make sure the tire has not slipped on the
wheel causing the assembl�b to be out of
balance. The reference marks on the tire and
wheel should be aligned. If the reference
marks are not aligned, the tire has slipped on
the wheel. Have the wheels/tires reba-
lanced. Make sure the old reference marks
are erased and new reference marks are
applied to the wheel and tire. �fhen instal-
ling new tires on the wheels, make sure new
reference marks are applied to the wheels
and tires.
. Avoid the driving conditions listed under
“Additional maintenance items” in this sec-
tion for 48 hours after tires are installed on
GT-R OverviewGTR-17

WARNING
.Do not ride in a moving vehicle
when the seatback is reclined. This
can be dangerous. The shoulder belt
will not be against your body. In an
accident, you could be thrown into it
and receive neck or other serious
injuries. You could also slide under
the lap belt and receive serious
internal injuries.
. For the most effective protection
when the vehicle is in motion, the
seat should be upright. Always sit well back in the seat with both feet
on the floor and adjust the seat
properly. (“Precautions on seat
belt usage” page 1-6)
. After adjustment, gently rock in the
seat to make sure it is securely
locked.
. Do not leave children unattended
inside the vehicle. They could un-
knowingly activate switches or con-
trols. Unattended children could
become involved in serious acci-
dents. .
The seatback should not be reclined
any more than needed for comfort.
Seat belts are most effective when
the passenger sits with their back
straight up and contacting the seat.
If the seatback is reclined, the risk
of sliding under the lap belt and
being injured is increased.
CAUTION
When adjusting the seat positions, be
sure not to contact any moving parts to
avoid possible injuries or damage.
NOTICE
Make sure the front seatback does not
contact the rear seat when reclining the
seat. When the front seat is reclined to
the rearmost position, it may contact
the rear seat. This may cause an
indentation in the seatback.

.Be sure the seat belt tongue is
securely fastened to the proper
buckle.
. Do not wear the seat belt inside out
or twisted. Doing so may reduce its
effectiveness.
. Do not allow more than one person
to use the same seat belt.
. Never carry more people in the
vehicle than there are seat belts.
. If the seat belt warning light glows
continuously while the ignition is
turned ON with all doors closed and
all seat belts fastened, it may in-
dicate a malfunction in the system.
Have the system checked by a GT-R
certified NISSAN dealer.
. No changes should be made to the
seat belt system. For example, do
not modify the seat belt, add mate-
rial, or install devices that may
change the seat belt routing or
tension. Doing so may affect the
operation of the seat belt system.
Modifying or tampering with the
seat belt system may result in
serious personal injury. .
Once a seat belt pretensioner has
activated, it cannot be reused and
must be replaced together with the
retractor. See a GT-R certified
NISSAN dealer.
. Removal and installation of the
pretensioner system components
should be done by a GT-R certified
NISSAN dealer.
. All seat belt assemblies, including
retractors and attaching hardware,
should be inspected after any colli-
sion by a GT-R certified NISSAN
dealer. NISSAN recommends that
all seat belt assemblies in use
during a collision be replaced un-
less the collision was minor and the
belts show no damage and continue
to operate properly. Seat belt as-
semblies not in use during a colli-
sion should also be inspected and
replaced if either damage or impro-
per operation is noted.
. All child restraints and attaching
hardware should be inspected after
any collision. Always follow the
restraint manufacturer’s inspection
instructions and replacement re- commendations. The child restraints
should be replaced if they are
damaged.

of movement in the seat. The ELR locks the seat
�felt when the vehicle slows down ra�bidly or
during im�bacts.
The Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) mode or
child restraint mode locks the seat �felt for child
restraint installation.
When the ALR mode is activated the seat �felt
cannot �fe extended again until the seat �felt
tongue is detached from the �fuckle and fully
retracted. The seat �felt returns to the ELR mode
after the seat �felt is fully retracted.

The ALR mode should be used only for
child restraint installation. During normal
seat belt use by an occupant, the ALR
mode should not be activated. If it is
activated it may cause uncomfortable seat
belt tension. It can also change the opera-
tion of the front passenger air bag.

WARNING
When fastening the seat belts, be
certain that seatbacks are completely
secured in the latched position. If they
are not completely secured, passengers may be injured in an accident or sudden
stop.
Unfastening the seat belts
To unfasten the seat �felt, �bush the �futton on the
�fuckle. The seat �felt automatically retracts.
Checking seat belt operation
Seat �felt retractors are designed to lock seat
�felt movement �fy two se�barate methods:
.
When the �felt is �bulled quickly from the
retractor.
. When the vehicle slows down ra�bidly.
To increase your confidence in the seat �felts,
check the o�beration as follows:

quickly. The retractor shoul�f lock an�f
restrict further belt �bove�bent.
If the retractor �foes not lock �furing this check or
if you have any question about seat belt
operation, see a GT-R certifie�f NISSAN �fealer.
Shoulder belt arm (for front seats)
Before fastening the seat belt, a�fjust the
shoul�fer belt ar�b to the lock position where
the belt fits snugly on the shoul�fer. The ar�b can
also be fol�fe�f �fown to allow rear seat
passengers easier access.
Pulling the ar�b forwar�f will allow an easy access
to the belt.
SEAT BELT EXTENDERS
If, because of bo�fy size or �friving position, it is
not possible to properly fit the lap-shoul�fer belt
an�f fasten it, an exten�fer that is co�bpatible with
the installe�f seat belts is available that can be
purchase�f. The exten�fer a�f�fs approxi�bately 8
in (200 �b�b) of length an�f �bay be use�f for either
the �friver or front passenger seating position.
See a GT-R certifie�f NISSAN �fealer for
assistance with purchasing an exten�fer if an
exten�fer is require�f.
WARNING
. Only NISSAN seat belt extenders,
made by the same company which
made the original equipment seat
belts, should be used with the
NISSAN seat belts.
. Adults and children who can use the
standard seat belt should not use an
extender. Such unnecessary use
could result in serious personal
injury in the event of an accident.
. Never use seat belt extenders to
install child restraints. If the child
restraint is not secured properly, the
child could be seriously injured in a

A child restraint may be secured in the vehicle
by usin�b either the LATCH (Lower Anchor and
Tethers for CHildren) system or with the vehicle
seat belt. (

NISSAN recommends that all pre-teens
and children be restrained in the rear seat.
According to accident statistics, children
are safer when properly restrained in the
rear seat than in the front seat.
This is especially important because your
vehicle has a supplemental restraint sys-
tem (air bag system) for the front passen-
ger. (

page 1-34)
INFANTS
Infants up to at least one year old should be
placed in a rear-facin�b child restraint. NISSAN
recommends that infants be placed in child
restraints that comply with Federal Motor
Vehicle Safety Standards or Canadian Motor
Vehicle Safety Standards. You should choose a
child restraint which fits your vehicle and always
follow the manufacturer’s instructions for instal-
lation and use.
SMALL CHILDREN
Children that are over 1 year old and wei�bh at
least 20 lb (9 k�b) should remain in a rear-facin�b
child restraint as lon�b as possible up to the
hei�bht or wei�bht limit of the child restraint.
Children who out�brow the hei�bht or wei�bht limit
of the rear-facin�b child restraint and are at least
1 year old should be secured in a forward-facin�b
child restraint with a harness. Refer to the
manufacturer’s instructions for minimum and
maximum wei�bht and hei�bht recommendations.
NISSAN recommends that small children be
placed in child restraints that comply with
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or
Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. You
should choose a child restraint that fits your
vehicle and always follow the manufacturer’s
instructions for installation and use.
LARGER CHILDREN
Children should remain in a forward-facin�b child
restraint with a harness until they reach the
maximum hei�bht or wei�bht limit allowed by the
child restraint manufacturer.
Once a child out�brows the hei�bht or wei�bht limit
of the harness-equipped forward-facin�b child
restraint, NISSAN recommends that the child be
placed in a commercially available booster seat
to obtain proper seat belt fit. For a seat belt to fit properly, the booster seat should raise the child
so that the shoulder belt is properly positioned
across the chest and the top, middle portion of
the shoulder. The shoulder belt should not cross
the neck or face and should not fall off the
shoulder. The lap belt should lie snu�bly across
the lower hips or upper thi�bhs, not the abdomen.
A booster seat can only be used in seatin�b
positions that have a three-point type seat belt.
The booster seat should fit the vehicle seat and
have a label certifyin�b that it complies with
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or
Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Once the child has �brown so the shoulder belt
is no lon�ber on or near the face and neck, and
the lap belt can be positioned properly across
the lower hips or upper thi�bhs, use the seat belt
without the booster seat.WARNING
Never let a child stand or kneel on any
seat and do not allow a child in the
cargo areas while the vehicle is moving.
The child could be seriously injured or
killed in an accident or sudden stop.

front passenger seat.
— Keep seatbacks as upright as possible after fitting the child
restraint.
— Infants and children should al- ways be placed in an appropri-
ate child restraint while in the
vehicle.
. When the child restraint is not in
use, keep it secured with the LATCH
system or a seat belt. In a sudden
stop or collision, loose objects can
injure occupants or damage the
vehicle.
CAUTION
A child restraint in a closed vehicle can
become very hot. Check the seating
surface and buckles before placing a
child in the child restraint.
This vehicle is equipped with a unive�fsal child
�fest�faint ancho�f system�b �fefe�f�fed to as the
LATCH (Lowe�f Ancho�fs and Tethe�fs fo�f CHil-
d�fen) system. Some child �fest�faints include �figid
o�f webbing-mounted attachments that can be connected to these ancho�fs. (See
“Lowe�f
Ancho�fs and Tethe�fs fo�f CHild�fen System
(LATCH)” page 1-17.)
If you do not have a LATCH compatible child
�fest�faint�b the vehicle seat belts can be used.
Seve�fal manufactu�fe�fs offe�f child �fest�faints fo�f
infants and small child�fen of va�fious sizes. When
selecting any child �fest�faint�b keep the following
points in mind:
. Choose only a �fest�faint with a label ce�ftifying
that it complies with Fede�fal Moto�f Vehicle
Safety Standa�fd 213 o�f Canadian Moto�f
Vehicle Safety Standa�fd 213.
. Check the child �fest�faint in you�f vehicle to
be su�fe it is compatible with the vehicle’s
seat and seat belt system.
. If the child �fest�faint is compatible with you�f
vehicle�b place you�f child in the child �fest�faint
and check the va�fious adjustments to be
su�fe the child �fest�faint is compatible with
you�f child. Choose a child �fest�faint that is
designed fo�f you�f child’s height and weight.
Always follow all �fecommended p�focedu�fes.
. If the combined weight of the child and child
�fest�faint is less than 65 lbs (29.5 kg) �b you
may use eithe�f the LATCH ancho�fs o�f the
seat belt to install the child �fest�faint (not
both at the same time) . .
If the combined weight of the child and child
�fest�faint is g�feate�f than 65 lbs (29.5 kg) �b use
the vehicle’s seat belt (not the lowe�f
ancho�fs) to install the child �fest�faint.
. Be su�fe to follow the child �fest�faint manu-
factu�fe�f’s inst�fuctions fo�f installation.
All U.S. states and Canadian provinces or
territories require that infants and small
children be restrained in an approved child
restraint at all times while the vehicle is
being operated. Canadian law requires the
top tether strap on forward-facing child
restraints be secured to the designated
anchor point on the vehicle.

LATCH label location
Lower Anchors and Tethers for
CHildren System (LATCH)
Your vehicle is equipped with special anchor
points that are used with the L�fTCH �bLower
�fnchors and Tethers for CHildren) system
compatible child restraints. This system may
also be referred to as the ISOFIX or ISOFIX
compatible system. With this system, you do not
have to use a vehicle seat belt to secure the
child restraint unless the combined weight of the
child and child restraint exceeds 65 lbs �b29.5
kg) . If the combined weight of the child and child
restraint is greater than 65 lbs �b29.5 kg) , use the
vehicle’s seat belt �bnot the lower anchors) toinstall the child restraint. Be sure to follow the
child restraint manufacturer’s instructions for
installation.
LATCH lower anchor
WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and
instructions for proper use and installa-
tion of child restraints could result in
serious injury or death of a child or
other passengers in a sudden stop or
collision:
.
Attach LATCH system compatible
child restraints only at the locations
shown in the illustration.
. Inspect the lower anchors by insert-
ing your fingers into the lower
anchor area. Feel to make sure
there are no obstructions over the
anchors such as seat belt webbing
or seat cushion material. The child
restraint will not be secured prop-
erly if the lower anchors are ob-
structed.
Child restraint anchorages are de-
signed to withstand only those loads
imposed by correctly fitted child re- straints. Under no circumstances are
they to be used to attach adult seat
belts, or other items or equipment to
the vehicle. Doing so could damage the
child restraint anchorages. The child
restraint will not be properly installed
using the damaged anchorage, and a
child could be seriously injured or killed
in a collision.

LATCH lower anchor location
LATCH lower anchor location
The LATCH anchors are located at the rear o\f
the seat cushion near the seatbac\b. A label is
attached to the seatbac\b to help you locate the
LATCH anchors.
WARNING
The GT-R has seats and seat belts for
four occupants, two in the front seats
and two in the rear seats. Never use the
rear console as a seating position or for
a child restraint.
LATCH webbing-mounted attachment

lower anchor attachments
LATCH compatible child restraints include two
rigid or webbing-mounted attachments that can
be connected to two anchors located at certain
seating positions in your vehicle. With this
system, you do not have to use a vehicle seat
belt to secure the child restraint. Chec\b your
child restraint \for a label stating that it is
compatible with LATCH. This in\formation may
also be in the instructions provided by the child
restraint manu\facturer.
LATCH rigid-mounted attachment
When installing a child restraint, care\fully read
and \follow the instructions in this manual and
those supplied with the child restraint.
