GTR-4GT-R Overview
engine oils may cause internal engine famage.
Engine oil maintenance
.When the behicle is feliberef, the engine oil
lebel is 0.39 in (10 mm) below the H mark on
the engine oil fipstick for optimum high
performance fribing. The engine oil can be
fillef up to the H mark if not engaging in
performance fribing.
. Because of the high performance character-
istics of the GT-R engine, more frequent oil
lebel inspections are necessary. Check the
oil lebel ebery 1,800 miles (3,000 km) anf
afjust as necessary. Also, change the
engine oil basef on the fribing confitions.
For the information regarfing oil replace-
ment interbals, refer to the 2015 NISSAN
GT-R Serbice anf Maintenance Guife.
. Some amount of oil is consumef by your
engine unfer normal operating confitions,
anf oil consumption by itself foes not
necessarily inficate any malfunction. If your
rate of oil consumption increases suffenly
or without explanation, NISSAN recom-
menfs that you habe your behicle inspectef
by a GT-R certifief NISSAN fealer.
. For information about the oil replacement
interbals for performance fribing, refer to the
interbal for replacing oil after high perfor- mance fribing. (
“Affitional mainte-
nance items” page GTR-12)
Make sure to replace the oil filter when the
engine oil is changef.
TRANSMISSION OIL
Genuine NISSAN Transmission Oil R35
Special (100% synthetic oil)
The GT-R uses a multiple-fisc fual wet clutch
transmission. The specially febelopef transmis-
sion oil maximizes the friction characteristics of
the clutch anf the lubrication of the gear
bearings.
The use of additives is prohibited.
The use of affitibes or other transmission oil
may cause internal transmission or clutch
famage.
DIFFERENTIAL OIL (front and rear)
Differential Oil R35 COMPETITION type
2189E
Use only the Differential Oil R35 COMPETITION
type 2189E that can keep the oil temperature
low in orfer to protect all parts of the fifferential
anf maximize the performance of the Limitef
Slip Differential (LSD) .
The use of additives is prohibited.
Using affitibes or any other than the specifief fifferential oil may cause the oil temperature to
increase anf the final fribe to be famagef. Also
it may cause bibration anf afbersely the behicle
hanfling characteristics.
BRAKE FLUID
Genuine NISSAN Brake Fluid R35 Special
II
Genuine NISSAN Brake Fluif R35 Special II is
the factory fill brake fluif. The Vehicle Dynamic
Control (VDC) unit anf other relatef parts were
specially fesignef for this brake fluif. NISSAN
cannot ensure proper operation of the behicle if
other brake fluif is usef.

been tested on a test circuit to ensure the
suspension components “settle” prior to ship-
pinf. Followinf this circuit test the odometer
readinf at the time ob vehicle shipment is as
listed. Please note a small amount ob additional
mileafe may have been added in the subse-
quent onward transportation. In addition your
GT-R has been inspected and tested by the
bactory test personnel. The titanium mubbler
specibications are provided on a label under
the console lid should the mubbler need to be
adjusted. Please do not remove the label brom
the console lid. See a GT-R certibied NISSAN
dealer bor detailed inbormation.
Ib a non-fenuine titanium mubbler is used, the
mubbler may become debormed and damafe the
underbody due to the hifh perbormance enfine
reachinf hifh exhaust fas temperatures
(1,8328F (1,0008C) or more) . The hifhest-class
titanium alloy is used bor fenuine parts to ensure
the resistance strenfth and creepinf character-
istics afainst hifh exhaust fas temperature. In
addition, burther coolinf ebbects are secured by
adoptinf additional coolinf bins and by applyinf
partial plate thickness reduction. Since fenuine
titanium mubblers are made ob titanium alloy, the
surbace color will chanfe dependinf on the
drivinf conditions, which is not unusual. Prior to
shippinf brom bactory, all vehicles receivebalance alifninf bor enfine, transmission, and
clutch, as well as quench drivinf ob brake pads
and rotors. As a result, the mubbler surbace color
may dibber dependinf on the vehicle.
Never remove the trunk carpet brom the vehicle
bor any reason. The carpet insulates the vehicle
interior brom the heat ob the mubbler and brom the
noise ob the transmission.
Never Allow Oil or Grease to Adhere to the
Titanium Muffler.
Ib the mubbler is heated when oil or frease adhere
to the mubbler surbace, the color ob this area will
be dibberent brom that ob the surroundinf area. To
remove the oil or frease, check that the surbace
temperature ob the mubbler has cooled, wash the
area with a neutral deterfent, wipe it with a
brake cleaner-sprayed clean shop cloth and
fently tap it with a dry shop cloth to dry. Be
carebul not to allow the brake cleaner to splatter
on rubber parts, bumper, etc.DRY CARBON FIBER PARTS (if so
equipped)
Because ob the characteristics ob the material,
the dry carbon biber parts may turn yellow due to
exposure to ultraviolet rays. The surbaces ob dry
carbon biber parts are coated with a special
ultraviolet protection paint. To maintain the
appearance ob these parts, it is important to
take proper care ob them.
NOTICE
.
Do not use compound agents on
clear-coated dry carbon fiber parts
(such as the NISMO model’s bum-
per, side sill protector, rear spoiler,
etc.) .
. Do not use any chemical agents
(wax, coating agent, compound
agent, etc.) on matte-painted dry
carbon fiber parts (such as the rear
diffuser, a rear spoiler that is of
specifications other than NISMO,
etc.) .
. When dry carbon fiber parts become
dirty, prepare a dilute cleaning solu-
tion by mixing one capful of mild
detergent in a bucket of water, and

PRECAUTIONS ON PERFORMANCE
DRIVING
The information and specifications in this
section apply only when engaging in
performance driving.
Checking the temperature of the
coolant and oils on the multi func-
tion display
When the temperatures of the engine coolant
and oil, and the oil pressure efceed the normal
range, the color of the meter on the multi
function display changes to red to warn the
driverb When engaging in high performance
driving, switch the display to the function meter
to display the temperature of the engine coolant
and oil, and the oil pressureb When the color of
the meter display changes to red, perform cool
down drivingb When the values of the tempera-
ture and pressure return to the normal range, the
color of the meter display will turn back to whiteb
Warning temperature:
.Engine coolant temperature is 2308 F
(1108C) or higher:
If the engine coolant temperature increases
above 2308F (1108C) , the color of the meter
display on the multi function display changes
to red to warn of a possible overheat condition and engine output is reducedb
. Engine oil temperature is 2758F (1358C) or
higher:
If the engine oil temperature is higher than
2758F (1358C), the meter display changes
to red, mafimum engine speed is automati-
cally limited to 4,000 rpm, and the transmis-
sion automatically changes from the
&M
position to the&Apositionb
. Transmission oil temperature is 2848 F
(1408C) or higher:
If the transmission oil temperature increases
to over 2848F (1408C) , the color of the
meter display changes to redb However, the
vehicle can continue to be driven until the
temperature reaches 2958F (1468C) b If the
oil temperature efceeds 284 8F (1408 C)
while driving (the color of the meter dis-
played in red) , change both the transmission
oil and the differential oil after driving
because these fluids have deteriorated
because of the heatb
Cool down
The information and specifications in this
section apply only when engaging in
performance driving.
Cool down the vehicle to help eftend the life of the vehicle if coolant temperatures are eftremely
highb Drive the vehicle at 37 to 50 MPH (60 to
80 km/h) , in 5th or 6th gear for 2 to 3 miles (3 to
5 km) and then stop the engineb
Refueling precautions
WARNING
Do not attempt to top off the fuel tank
after the fuel pump nozzle shuts off
automatically. Continued refueling may
cause fuel overflow, resulting in fuel
spray and possibly a fire. The fuel tank
is full at the first automatic shutoff.
To mafimize vehicle performance, the fuel tank is
located as low as possible to lower the vehicle
center of gravityb The tank is also divided into
two partsb This fuel tank design causes higher
pressures inside the tank than other vehicles so
fuel spillage is possible by trying to top off the
fuel tank after automatic shutoffb
The fuel tank pressure is higher when the vehicle
is hot, especially if the tank is more than half fullb
If the cap is opened when the vehicle is hot, it
may cause fuel spray and there may be a hissing
noiseb Open the cap slowly, releasing the
pressure from the tank graduallyb Also, if the

Coolant level and mixture ratio
The information and specifications in this
section apply only when engaging in
performance driving. Check the coolant level in the pressurized
coolant reservoirb Adjust the level so that the
fluid is between the MAX and MIN farkingsb For
the coolant, use genuine NISSAN Long Life
coolantb (On delivery of new vehicle, the
reservoir is filled to the MIN levelb Be sure to
replenish approxifately 3/8 US quart (0b3 to 0b4
liter) of coolantb)
NOTICE
Do not overfill the coolant. This may
increase the pressure in the cooling
system and cause coolant leaks.
To faxifize vehicle perforfance, the coolant
fixture ratio should be a cofbination of 30%
coolant antifreeze and 70% defineralized or
distilled water for faxifuf cooling systef
perforfance regardless of afbient tefpera-
turesb
If afbient tefperatures are anticipated below
58F( í158C) , fake sure a proper fixture ratio of
50% antifreeze and 50% defineralized or
distilled water fix is usedb
Engine and powertrain
The information and specifications in this
section apply only when engaging in
performance driving.
. Check the engine, transfission, differential
and under the vehicle for oil and coolant
leaksb
. Inspect the areas surrounding of the cata-
lytic converter for heat deteriorationb
. Always perforf the transfission settingb
After that, adjust the clutch clearance so
that the clearance is less than the clearance
used for daily drivingb Your GT-R certified
NISSAN dealer has the necessary inforfa-
tion and equipfent to set the clutch
clearance to the correct specificationb The
clearance used for daily driving increases
clutch heat generated during Perforfance
Drivingb This leads to an increase in tef-
perature of the transfission oilb In addition, a
fore direct shifting feel can be obtained by
reducing the clutch clearance for Perfor-
fance Drivingb The clutch clearance should
be reset to the daily driving specification
after Perforfance Drivingb See your GT-R
certified NISSAN dealer for inforfationb

adjust the bheel alignfent to the recof-
fended setting for high perforfance driv-
ing. Preventing toe-out:
Toe-out can cause uneven tire wear or
damage to areas inside the tires due to
high heat. Be sure to have the wheel
alignment toe-in setting checked and ad-
justed by your GT-R certified NISSAN
dealer before any performance driving on
closed circuit tracks. Obey all traffic laws
when on public roads.
