If "OIL" fl a s h e s a n d t h e s e r v i c e w a r n -
ing light comes on, accompanied by
an audible signal and a message on
the multifunction display, this indicates
a lack of oil which could damage the
engine.
I f t h e l a c k o f o i l i s c o n fi r m e d b y a
check using the dipstick, it is essential
that the level is topped up.
E n g i n e o i l l e v e l i n d i c a t o r
When the ignition is switched on, the
engine oil level is indicated for approxi-
mately 5 seconds after the service indi-
cator display.
O i l l e v e l g a u g e f a u l t
Check the oil level using the dipstick.
If "OIL --" fl a s h e s , t h i s i n d i c a t e s a
malfunction of the engine oil level
gauge.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY
After switching on the ignition, three
functions are shown in succession:
- service indicator,
- engine oil level indicator
- total distance recorder (total and trip distances).
The level read on the dipstick
will only be correct if the
vehicle is on level ground
and the engine has been off
for more than 15 minutes.
O i l l e v e l c o r r e c t
N o t e : the trip distance is displayed
for thirty seconds, when the ignition is
switched off, on opening and closing
the driver's door as well as on locking
the vehicle.
It also displays the "2 Tronic" gear-
box positions and operating modes
selected, as well as the information
relating to the cruise control or speed
limiter when one of these functions is
active.

Your PEUGEOT dealer carries out
this operation after each service.
However, if you carry out the service
yourself, the re-set procedure is as
follows:
Switch off the ignition,
Press and hold the trip recorder
re-set button,
Switch on the ignition.
The display begins a countdown.
When the display shows "=0" , release

between the total and trip distance
displays.
To reset the trip distance recorder to
zero, when it is displayed press the
button until zeros appear.
L i g h t i n g r h e o s t a t
With the lights on, press the button to
vary the intensity of the lighting of the
instruments and controls. When the
lighting reaches the required bright-
ness, release the button.
After this operation, if you
wish to disconnect the bat-
tery, lock the vehicle and
w a i t f o r a t l e a s t fi v e m i n u t e s ,
otherwise the zero re-set will not be
registered.

VENTILATION
1. Windscreen de-icing or
demisting vent.

demisting vents.

7. Temperature sensor. Recommendations for use
If the interior temperature remains
very high following a long period
parked in the sun, do not hesitate to
ventilate the passenger compartment
for a few minutes.
For an even air distribution, make
sure that you do not block the out-
side air inlet grille, the vents and the
air outlets to the footwells.
In certain cases of particularly arduous
use (towing the maximum load on a
steep gradient in a high temperature),
cutting off the air conditioning permits
recovery of the engine power and
therefore improvement of the towing
capacity.
Ensure that the passenger compart-
m e n t fi l t e r , l o c a t e d u n d e r n e a t h t h e
windscreen, in the engine compart-
ment, is in good condition. Have the
fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r
to the chapter "Checks - § Checks").
If you drive in a dusty environment,
change them twice as often. We recommend the use of a com-
b i n e d p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r . B y
m e a n s o f i t s s e c o n d s p e c i a l a c t i v e fi l t e r ,
i t c o n t r i b u t e s t o t h e p u r i fi c a t i o n o f t h e a i r
breathed by the occupants and to the
cleanness of the passenger compart-
ment (reduction of allergic symptoms,
unpleasant odours and oily deposits).
Operate the air conditioning system
for 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a
month, to keep it in perfect working
order.
To guarantee correct operation of
your air conditioning system, we also
recommend that you have it checked
regularly.
The condensation created by the air
c o n d i t i o n i n g r e s u l t s i n a fl o w o f w a t e r
underneath the vehicle when stationary
which is perfectly normal.
If the system does not produce cold air,
do not use it and contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Do not cover the temperature sen-
sor
7 , it is used for regulation of the
air conditioning.
The air conditioning system
does not contain chlorine and
does not present any danger
to the ozone layer.

MIRRORS
- from outside:
lock the vehicle using the remote
control or the key.
Note : if the mirrors are folded using
switch A , they will not unfold when
the vehicle is unlocked using the
remote control or the key. Switch A
must be turned again. Manual interior mirror
The interior mirror has two positions:
- day (normal),
- night (anti-dazzle).
To change from one to the other,
push or pull the lever on the lower
edge of the mirror.
STEERING WHEEL HEIGHT AND DEPTH ADJUSTMENT
When the vehicle is stationary, unlock
the steering wheel by pulling handle
A .
Adjust the height and depth of the
steering wheel.
Lock it by pushing handle A down
fully.
Demisting
To demist the mirrors, with the engine
running, press the rear screen demi-
sting button.
Folding
When parked, the mirrors can be
folded back manually.

folding:
- from inside:
with the ignition on, turn switch A
downwards.
Objects observed in the mirrors
are, in reality, closer than they
appear.
Take this into account to as-
sess correctly the distance of vehicles
approaching from the rear.
Electric exterior mirrors
Adjustment
Turn switch A to the right or to the
left to select the corresponding
mirror.
Move this switch in all four direc-
tions to adjust.
Return switch A to the centre
position. Unfolding
When parked, the mirrors can be un-
folded manually.

unfolding:
- from inside:
with the ignition on, turn switch A
to the central position.
- from outside:
unlock the vehicle using the remote
control or the key.
The folding and unfolding of the ex-
terior mirrors can be deactivated by
a PEUGEOT dealer.

REAR SEATS
Seat back angle adjustment
Tilt the control C and adjust the angle
to the comfort or loading position.
Release the control to lock. Folding/Placing in the "fully
folded" position
Place the head restraint in the low
position.
Position the seat belt buckle as close
as possible to the strap return.
Move the seat as far back as possi-
ble using the bar A or the handle B .
Fold the seat back onto the seat
cushion tilting control C fully.
Note: you can lock the seat back in
this position by pressing on it.
Push the control D upwards to release
the rear feet.
Place the seat in the "fully folded"
position.
When driving, the seat is retained in
this position by the side strut.
Table position
Place the head restraint in the low
position.
Fold the seat back onto the seat
cushion tilting control
C fully.
Note: you can lock the seat back in
this position by pressing on it.
Forwards-backwards
adjustment
Lift the bar
A and slide the seat for-
wards or backwards.
From the boot, you can press the red
handle B and slide the seat forwards
or backwards.
This manoeuvre makes folding of the
seat when loading the boot easier.

Never drive with the head re-
straints removed, they must
be in place and correctly
adjusted.
Locked Released
In order to ensure that the
seat covers have a long ser-
vice life, do not leave the seat
in the table or "fully folded"
position after loading.
Avoid placing luggage on the seats
when they are in the table position.
REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS
The rear head restraints can be re-
m o v e d a n d h a v e t w o p o s i t i o n s ;
- high, position for use
- low, storage position
Repositioning the seat
Press the control D upwards to check
that the rear feet are released.
Tilt the folded seat rearwards.
The rear feet are secured automati-
cally.
Check that the seat is secured correctly.
R a i s e t h e s e a t b a c k , r e l e a s i n g i t fi r s t
by pulling the control C . To raise a head restraint, pull it up-
wards.
To lower it, press the lug then the
head restraint.
To remove it, place it in the high posi-
tion, push the lug and pull it upwards.
T o r e fi t i t , e n g a g e t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t
rods in the holes taking care to remain
in the centreline of the seat back.
