FITTINGS
Hooked onto the stowing rings, this en-
ables you to secure your luggage.
Luggage retaining net
Raise the boot carpet to gain access
to the storage box.
Hook the boot carpet on the boot
seal using its handle.
This has areas for storing the windstop
and two warning triangles.
By removing this box you gain access
to the temporary tyre repair kit and the
vehicle tools.

When the boot screen is unfolded,
check that the luggage:
- never raises it,
- is never placed on top of it.
The load space cover must always
be unfolded before a roof opening
manoeuvre is triggered (refer to the
"Familiarisation - § Opening" section).

DIRECTION INDICATORS
If you forget to cancel the direc-
tion indicators for more than twenty
seconds, the volume of the audible
signal will increase if the speed is
above 40 mph (60 km/h).
Left: lower the lighting stalk passing
the point of resistance.
Right: raise the lighting stalk passing
the point of resistance.
HAZARD WARNING LAMPS
A visual warning by means of the di-
rection indicators to alert other road
users to a vehicle breakdown, towing or
accident.
Press this button, the direction indi-
c a t o r s fl a s h .
They can operate with the ignition off. Automatic operation of hazard
warning lamps
When braking in an emergency, de-
pending on the deceleration, the hazard
warning lamps come on automatically.
T h e y s w i t c h o f f a u t o m a t i c a l l y t h e fi r s t
time you accelerate.
You can also switch them off by
pressing the button.

Lateral airbags
System which protects the driver and
front passenger in the event of a seri-
ous side impact in order to limit the risk
of injury to the pelvis, chest and head.
T h e l a t e r a l a i r b a g s a r e fi t t e d o n t h e d o o r
side:
- in the front seat back frame (chest-pelvis airbag),
- in the front head restraint (head airbag).
D e p l o y m e n t
The lateral airbags are deployed unilaterally
in the event of a serious side impact applied
to all or part of the side impact zone B , per-
pendicular to the longitudinal centreline of the
vehicle on a horizontal plane and directed
from the outside towards the inside of the
vehicle.

strument panel comes on, ac-

dealer to have the system checked. The
airbags may no longer be deployed in
the event of a serious impact. In the event of a light impact or
bump to the side of the vehicle of
if the vehicle rolls over, the airbags
may not be deployed.
In the event of a rear or front collision,
the airbags are not deployed.

Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle. Operating fault
When the ignition is on, the
lighting of this warning lamp,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message in the mul-
t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n , i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x
malfunction.
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
emergency mode and is locked in 3rd
gear. You may feel a substantial knock
when changing from P to R and from N
to R . This will not cause any damage to
t h e g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d a s p e e d o f 6 0 m p h
( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l s p e e d r e s t r i c t i o n s p e r -
mitting.
Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
This warning lamp may also come on if
a door is opened.
There is a risk of damage to the

- if you press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time,
- if you force the lever from posi- tion P to another position when
t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
c h a n g i n g o f t h e f o u r o r s i x g e a r s .
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succes-
sion on the instrument panel.
If the engine spped is too low
or too high, the gear selected
fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c o n d s , t h e n t h e a c -
tual gear engaged is displayed.
It is possible to change from position D
( a u t o m a t i c ) t o p o s i t i o n M ( m a n u a l ) a t
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or mov-
i n g v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s
gear M1 automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. If the lever is not in position
P ,
when the driver's door is opened or
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s a f t e r t h e
ignition is switched off, an audible
signal is heard and a message ap-
pears.
Return the lever to position P ;
the audible signal stops and the
message disappears.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed and
engine speed permit; otherwise, the
g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n a u -
tomatic mode.
Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a
gear is not engaged correctly
(selector between two posi-
t i o n s ) .
To limit fuel consumption when sta-
tionary for long periods with the en-
g i n e r u n n i n g ( t r a f fi c j a m . . . ) , p l a c e
the gear lever in position N and ap-
ply the parking brake.

Front parking sensors
In addition to the rear parking sensors,
the front parking sensors are triggered
when an obstacle is detected in front
and the speed of the vehicle is still below
6 m p h ( 1 0 k m / h ) .
The sound emitted by the speaker (front
o r r e a r ) i n d i c a t e s w h e t h e r t h e o b s t a c l e i s
in front or behind.
The front parking sensors are interrupted
if the vehicle stops for more than three
seconds in forward gear, if no further ob-
stacles are detected or when the speed
o f t h e v e h i c l e e x c e e d s 6 m p h ( 1 0 k m / h ) .
Deactivation/Activation of the front
and rear parking sensors
The function is deactivated by pressing
this button. The indicator lamp on the
button comes on.
Pressing this button again reactivates
the function. The indicator lamp on the
button switches off. Deactivation/Activation of the rear
parking sensors
The function will be deactivated au-
tomatically if a trailer is being towed
o r a b i c y c l e c a r r i e r i s fi t t e d ( v e h i c l e

If an operating fault occurs,
when reverse gear is engaged
this warning lamp is displayed
o n t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l a n d / o r
a message appears on the screen, ac-
companied by an audible signal (short
b l e e p ) .
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
In bad weather or in winter, ensure
that the sensors are not covered
with mud, ice or snow. When re-
verse gear is engaged, an audible
s i g n a l ( l o n g b l e e p ) i n d i c a t e s t h a t
the sensors may be dirty.
When the vehicle is moving at
a s p e e d b e l o w 6 m p h ( 1 0 k m / h ) ,
certain sound sources (motorcy-
c l e , l o r r y , p n e u m a t i c d r i l l , e t c . ) m a y
trigger the audible signals of the
parking sensor system.
The function is deactivated
or activated via the vehicle
c o n fi g u r a t i o n m e n u .
The status of the function
is stored when the ignition
is switched off.

In order to optimise the operation
of units as important as the brak-
ing system, PEUGEOT selects and
o f f e r s v e r y s p e c i fi c p r o d u c t s .
To avoid damaging the electrical
units, the use of a high pressure
washer in the engine compartment
is strictly prohibited .
Brake disc wear

Brake wear depends on the
style of driving, particularly in
the case of vehicles used in
town, over short distances. It
may be necessary to have the
condition of the brakes checked, even
between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a
d r o p i n t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i n d i c a t e s
that the brake pads are worn. For information relating to
checking the brake disc wear,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
If a loss of effectiveness of this
system is noticed, the parking
brake must be checked, even
between two services.
This system must be checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.

The gearbox does not re-
quire any maintenance (no oil
