2. Then keep turning the pressure cap, but now push
down as you turn it. Remove the pressure cap.
{CAUTION:
You can be burned if you spill coolant on hot
engine parts. Coolant contains ethylene glycol
and it will burn if the engine parts are hot
enough. Do not spill coolant on a hot engine.
3. If the vehicle has the 3800 V6 engine, remove the
Series III V6 engine cover shield to access the
bleed valve.
3.1. Clean the area around the engine oil ll tube
and cap before removing. Twist the oil ll
tube, with cap attached, counterclockwise
and remove it.3800 Engine

5. Fill the radiator with the proper DEX-COOL®
coolant mixture, up to the base of the ller
neck. SeeEngine Coolant on page 5-24for more
information about the proper coolant mixture.
If you see a stream of coolant coming from an air
bleed valve, close the valve. Otherwise, close
the valve after the radiator is lled.6. Rinse or wipe any spilled coolant from the engine
and the compartment.
7. Replace the 3800 Series III V6 engine cover shield.
7.1. Remove the oil ll tube, with cap attached,
from the valve cover.
7.2. Insert the catch tab on the cover shield
under the bracket on the engine.
7.3. Place the hole in the cover shield over the
hole in the valve cover. Install oil ll tube and
cap by twisting clockwise.
8. Then ll the coolant recovery tank to the FULL
COLD mark.
9. Put the cap back on the coolant recovery tank, but
leave the radiator pressure cap off.

3. Pull the headlamp assembly straight out from the
vehicle. (Moving the headlamp up and down
slightly may help with its removal.)4. Turn the bulb socket ring one-quarter of a turn
counterclockwise to remove it from the headlamp
assembly.
5. Pull the old bulb from the socket.
6. Place the new bulb into the socket.
7. Turn the bulb socket ring one-quarter turn clockwise
to reinstall it back into the headlamp assembly.
8. Carefully reinstall the headlamp assembly.
9. Push down on the plastic retaining clip on the
electrical connector while pushing rearward on
the headlamp, making sure the headlamp assembly
is secure.

Front Turn Signal, Parking and
Fog Lamps
The front turn signal, parking, and fog lamps are
located below the high-beam, low-beam headlamps
and sidemarker lamps.

1. Follow Steps 1 through 3 of the headlamp
replacement procedure. SeeHeadlamps and
Sidemarker Lamps on page 5-51for more
information.2. Locate the front turn
signal, parking lamp,
and fog lamp bulbs,
which are located
below the headlamp
assembly.
The arrow indicates which
is the turn signal/parking
lamp bulb. The fog
lamp bulb is below it.
3. Turn the bulb socket one-quarter of a turn
counterclockwise to remove it from its assembly.
4. Pull the old bulb from the socket and replace it with
a new one.
5. Turn the bulb socket a quarter turn clockwise to
reinstall it.
6. Reinstall the headlamp assembly. Be careful to
avoid scratching or chipping the paint on the
vehicle.
7. Push down on the plastic retaining clip on the
electrical connector while pushing rearward on
the headlamp, making sure the headlamp assembly
is secure.

7. Turn the appropriate
lamp socket a quarter
turn counterclockwise
and remove it.
8. Remove the old bulb.
9. Replace with a new bulb into the socket and turn
the lamp socket clockwise to install it.
10. Reinstall the taillamp assembly by reversing
Steps 2 through 5.Back-Up Lamps
The back-up lamps are located on the trunk lid.
To replace the back-up lamp bulb(s), do the following:
1. Open the trunk. SeeTrunk on page 2-13for
more information.

2. Turn the appropriate lamp socket a quarter turn
counterclockwise and remove it.
3. Remove the old bulb.
4. Put the new bulb into the lamp socket.
5. Turn the bulb a quarter turn clockwise to reinstall it.

Accessing the Tire Inator Kit
The tire inator kit is stored in the trunk of your vehicle.
1. Open the trunk and lift up the carpet. SeeTrunk
on page 2-13for more information.
2. Remove the inator
kit cover by turning
the center nut
counterclockwise.
3. Remove the inator kit by pulling it straight out of
the foam container.
Tire Sealant
The kit contains a liquid sealant that when injected
into a at tire, may temporarily repair nail holes or
cuts in the tread area of the tire. The tire sealant
cannot repair tire damage caused while driving on a at
tire or a tire that has had a “blow out” or a tire that
has punctures in the sidewall areas. The tire sealant
solution is a one-time use application for one tire only.
Check the tire sealant expiration date; the sealant
may not be as effective beyond the expiration date.
If needed, see your GM dealer for a replacement
canister. The tire sealant can be peeled off easily
after drying.

Using the Tire Inator Kit
1. Place the inator kit on the ground and unwrap
the sealant ling hose (G) from the compressor.
2. Remove the air compressor accessory plug (C)
from the unit. Do not plug into an accessory
outlet yet.
3. Remove the valve stem cap from the at tire by
turning it counterclockwise.
If an object, such as a nail, has penetrated the tire,
do not remove.
4. Attach the sealant ling hose (G) onto the tire valve
stem. Turn it clockwise until it is tight.
Make sure that the inator kit ON/OFF switch (D) is
in the OFF position.
5. Plug the air compressor accessory plug (C) into
an accessory power outlet in the vehicle. See
Accessory Power Outlets on page 3-24for more
information.

13. Replace the sealant ling hose.
14. Remove the maximum
speed label from the
sealant canister
and place in a highly
visible location such as
the inside of the
upper left corner of the
windshield or to the
face of the radio/clock.
The maximum speed label reminds you to drive
cautiously and not to exceed 55 mph (90 km/h) until
you have the damaged tire inspected and repaired.
{CAUTION:
Storing the tire inator kit or other equipment in
the passenger compartment of the vehicle could
cause injury. In a sudden stop or collision,
loose equipment could strike someone. Store
the tire inator kit in the proper place.15. Place the equipment in the original location in the
trunk of your vehicle.
16. Drive the vehicle immediately to distribute the
sealant evenly in the tire.
After 10 minutes, stop at a safe location and check
the tire pressure. If the tire pressure has fallen
below 19 psi (130 kPa), stop driving the vehicle.
The tire is too damaged for the sealant to work.

If the tire pressure is equal to or greater than
19 psi (130 kPa), you can inate the tire to the
correct pressure.
17. Dispose of the sealant canister at a local GM dealer
or in accordance with your local state codes and
practices.
After using the sealant canister, replace with a new
canister from a GM dealer.

3. Turn the sealant canister so the inator ling hose
is aligned with the slot in the compressor.
4. Lift the sealant canister front the compressor and
replace with a new sealant canister. See your GM
dealer for more information.To install a new sealant canister, do the following:
1. Align the sealant ling hose with the slot in
the compressor.
2. Push the sealant canister down and rotate it
clockwise.
3. Push the air compressor inator hose onto the
sealant canister inlet and push the lever down.
