The air conditioning system beg ins to operate. Air outlets and
fan speed are automatically adjus ted according to the temper-
ature setting.
*: When is pressed, the current temperature setting display
( ) will be automatically selected.
Turn to the clockwise to raise the temperature, or
counterclockwise to lower.

■ Basic setting
Adjusting the fan speed
Slide to the right to select the fan speed display
().
Turn to the clockwise to increase the fan speed, or
counterclockwise to decrease.
The fan speed can be adjusted in 7 stages.
To switch the air conditioning (cooler/dehumidifier functions) ON or
OFF, press . (ON and OFF are switched between each time
the button is pressed.)
To stop the air flow, press .

Adjusting the temperature setting
Slide to the left or right to select the temperature set-
ting display ( ).
Turn to the clockwise to raise the temperature, or
counterclockwise to lower.
Changing the air outlets
Slide to the left to select the air outlet display

Turn clockwise or counterclockwise.
The air flow shown on the display indicates the following:
Air flows to the upper body.

■Using automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting
and ambient conditions. As a result, the following may occur:
●Immediately after is pressed, the fan may stop for a while until
warm or cool air is ready to flow.
● Cool air may flow to the area around the upper body when the heater is
on.
■ After pressing
The selection frame will automatically move to the fan speed display.
■ Switching between outside air and recirculated air modes
Recirculated air mode or outside air mode may be automatically switched in
accordance with the temperature setting and the inside temperature.
Also, outside air mode may be automatically switched to when the outside
temperature is low.
■ When the outside temperature exceeds 75
F (24C) and the air condi-
tioning system is on
● In order to reduce the air conditioning power consumption, the air condi-
tioning system may switch to recirculated air mode automatically. This
may also reduce fuel consumption.
● Recirculated air mode is selected as a default mode when the “POWER”
switch is turned to ON mode.
● It is possible to switch to outside air mode at any time by pressing
.
■ Using the system in recirculated air mode
The windows will fog up more easily if recirculated air mode is used.

■Window defogger feature
Recirculated air mode may automatically switch to outside air mode in situa-
tions where the windows need to be defogged.
■ Micro dust and pollen filter
●In order to prevent the windshield from fogging up when the outside air is
cold, the following may occur:
• Outside air mode does not switch to recirculated air mode.
• The air conditioning system operates automatically.
• The operation cancels after 1 minute.
● In rainy weather, the windows may fog up. Press .
■ Outside temperature display
In the following situations, the correct outside temperature may not be dis-
played, or the display may take longer than normal to change.
●When stopped, or driving at low speeds (less than 16 mph [25 km/h])
● When the outside temperature has changed suddenly (at the entrance/
exit of a garage, tunnel, etc.)
■ Operation of the air conditio ning system in Eco drive mode
In the Eco drive mode, the air conditioning system is controlled as follows to
prioritize fuel efficiency:
● Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/
cooling capacity
● Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
To improve air conditioning performance, perform the following operations:
● Adjust the fan speed
● Turn off Eco drive mode ( P. 187)
● Customize the air conditioning control of Eco drive mode. ( P. 529)

■When changing the temperature set ting using the steering switches
The temperature will change, however the position of the selection frame on
the air conditioning display will remain the same.
CAUTION
■ To reduce the risk of an accident
Exercise care when operating the air conditioning switches on the steering
wheel.

Steering wheel audio switches
Some audio features can be contro lled using the switches on the
steering wheel. For details, refer to the “DISPLAY AUDIO SYSTEM
OWNER’S MANUAL” or “NAVIGATION SYSTEM OWNER’S
MANUAL”.
Operation may differ and usage may not be possible with audio/navi-
gation systems that are not compatib le with the steering switches in
this vehicle.
