If the seat belt has been exposed to extreme forces, e.g. in conjunction with acollision, the entire seat belt must bereplaced. Even if the seat belt appearsundamaged, some of its protective proper-ties may have been lost. Also replace theseat belt if it is worn or damaged. The newseat belt must be type approved andintended for the same seating position asthe replaced seat belt.

Resetting the electric seat belt tensioners *
The electric seat belt tensioners are designed to be reset automatically, but if the seat beltremains taut it can be reset manually.
1. Stop the vehicle in a safe location.
2. Unbuckle the seat belt and then rebuckle it.
> The seat belt and the electric seat belttensioner will be reset.
WARNING

Door and seat belt reminders
This system is intended to remind occupants to buckle their seat belts and to alert thedriver if a door, hood or other opening (trunk,sunroof, etc.) is open.
Graphics in the instrument panel
Graphics in the instrument panel with various types of warnings. The warning colors for the doors/tail-gate vary depending on the vehicle's speed.
The instrument panel graphic shows the seats where seat belts are buckled and not buckled. The same graphic also indicates if the hood, tailgate, fuel filler door or any door is open. Confirm the graphic by briefly pressing the O
button on the right-side steering wheel key- pad.

Seat belt reminder
Reminder light in ceiling console.
A seat belt reminder light illuminates in the ceiling console and a warning symbol is dis-played in the instrument panel. The audible reminder varies depending on the vehicle's speed, driving time and distancedriven. A seat belt status graphic in the instrument panel indicates when the driver's or a pas-senger's seat belt is buckled or unbuckled. Child seats are not included in the seat belt reminder system.
Front seats
An audible signal and an indicator light remind unbuckled occupants to fasten their seatbelts.
Rear seat
The rear seat belt reminder has two functions:
To indicate which seat belts are buckled in the rear seats. This will also be displayedin an instrument panel graphic.
To provide audio and visual reminders ifany seat belt in the rear seat is removedwhile the vehicle is in motion. Thereminder will stop when the seat belt hasbeen rebuckled.
Door/hood/tailgate and fuel filler door
reminder
If the hood, tailgate, fuel filler door or any dooris not properly closed, this will be indicated bya graphic in the instrument panel. Stop thevehicle safely and close the open door, hood,etc.
If the vehicle is moving at a speedunder approx. 10 km/h (6 mph), theinformation symbol will illuminate inthe instrument panel.
If the vehicle is moving at a speed above approx. 10 km/h (6 mph), thewarning symbol will illuminate in theinstrument panel.

Airbags
The vehicle is equipped with airbags and inflatable curtains for the driver and passen-gers.
WARNING
If the airbag warning light stays on after the engine has started or if it illu-minates while you are driving, have thevehicle inspected by a trained andqualified Volvo service technician assoon as possible.
Never attempt to alter or repair any ofthe vehicle's safety systems yourself.Incorrectly performed repairs to anysystem could impair function and leadto serious injury. All work on these sys-tems should be performed by a trainedand qualified Volvo service technician.

Lock indication
The turn signals will flash when the vehicle is locked or unlocked.
Exterior confirmationLocking
The turn signals will flash once and the door mirrors will fold in 1

The tailgate, hood and all doors must be closed for confirmation to be given. If only thedriver's door is closed when the vehicle is locked 2
, the vehicle will be locked but the turn
signals will only flash to indicate locking when all doors and the tailgate and hood have beenclosed.
Lock and alarm indicators on the dashboard
The locks and alarm indicator will display the status of the locking system:
One long flash indicates locking.
When the vehicle is locked, this will beindicated by short, pulsating flashes.
Rapid flashing after disabling the alarmindicates that the alarm has been trig-gered.
Lock button indicators
Front door
Lock buttons with indicator lights in front door.
Illuminated indicator lights in both front door lock buttons indicate that all doors are locked.If any door is opened, the lights in both doorswill go out.

Alarm The alarm emits sound and light signals if anyone without a valid remote key attemptsto break into the vehicle or interferes with thestart battery or alarm siren.
When armed, the alarm will be triggered if:
the hood, tailgate or any door is opened.
a battery cable is disconnected.
the alarm siren is disconnected.
Alarm signalsThe following occurs if the alarm is triggered:
A siren will sound for 30 seconds or until the alarm is turned off.
The hazard warning flashers will flash for5 minutes or until the alarm is turned off.
If the reason the alarm was triggered is notrectified, the alarm cycle will repeat up to 10 times 15
.
Alarm indicator
A red indicator light on the dashboard shows the status of the alarm:
Indicator off - the alarm is disarmed.
Indicator flashes once every two seconds -the alarm is armed.
The indicator flashes quickly after thealarm has been disabled for up to30 seconds or until the ignition is put in

mode – the alarm has been triggered.
In the event of alarm system failureIf a problem is detected in the alarmsystem, a symbol and the message

Leveling control settings *
Turn off leveling control before lifting the vehicle with a jack to help avoid problemswith the pneumatic suspension. The vehicle can be lowered or raised to make it easier to load or for passengers to get inand out.
Adjusting loading mode
Use the buttons in the cargo compartment to raise or lower the rear section of the vehicle tofacilitate loading or unloading the vehicle orconnecting or disconnecting a trailer.
Center display settings
Easy Entry and Exit Suspension Control
The vehicle can be lowered to make it easier to get in and out. Activating easy entry in the center display: 1.

> When the vehicle is parked and the engine is turned off, the level is low- ered. (Level adjustment will stop if aside door is opened and will resumeafter a slight delay when the door hasbeen closed.) When the engine isstarted and the vehicle begins to move,the level will be raised to the height setby the selected drive mode.
Disable Leveling Control
In certain situations, this function must be turned off, e.g. before the vehicle is raised using a jack *. The level difference caused by
raising the vehicle with a jack could cause problems with the pneumatic suspension. Turning off the function in the center display:1. Tap

Planning and scheduling vehicle charging with the Volvo On Callapp With the Volvo On Call app, you can plan and schedule charging for your vehicle.
You can schedule charging for the charging locations that you have saved in your app,which can be practical of you want to e.g. plana charging stop along a travel route or plancharging intervals for your vehicle at home orin your neighborhood. 1.From the
home tab, select Fuel range orBattery charge.
> In the view that appears, you can see your saved charging locations under
Saved locations. If you haven't saved
any charging locations yet or you want to add new locations, e.g. stationsalong a route or in your neighborhood, you can choose
Add location (you can
save up to eight charging locations).
2. Choose the location you want to schedule a charging at.
> A view for the saved location will open.
3. Select a start time for the charging.
4. Select an end time for the charging. 5. Go back to the view for fuel.
> A charging icon will appear next to thesaved location you scheduled charging at. When the icon disappears, thescheduled charging is saved and input.

WARNING
In a head-on collision at a speed of 50 km/h (30 mph), an unsecured objectweighing 20 kg (44 pounds) can reach aprojectile weight equivalent to 1000 kg(2200 pounds).
WARNING
If objects are loaded higher than the upper edge of the side windows, leave a 10 cm(4 in.) space between the objects and thewindow. Objects placed closer to thiscould impede the function of the inflatablecurtain concealed inside the headlining.
WARNING
Always secure the load. Otherwise, it may shift during heavy braking and injure peo-ple in the vehicle. Cover sharp edges and sharp corners with something soft. Turn off the engine and apply the parking brake when loading/unloading longobjects. Otherwise, it is possible for theload to reach the gear lever or gear selectorand move it to a drive position – whichcould cause the vehicle to begin rolling.
Extra cargo space
The rear seat backrests can be folded down to increase cargo space in the cargo compart- ment/trunk and simplify loading. If the rearseat backrests are folded down, make surethat no objects loaded into the vehicle preventthe WHIPS system for the front seats fromfunctioning correctly. The ski hatch in the rear seat can be folded down to carry skis or other long, thin objects.
Raising/lowering the rear end of the
vehicle *
The rear end of the vehicle can be lowered orraised for easier loading into the cargo com-partment/trunk or to facilitate attaching a trailer*.
The controls for raising/lowering are located at the rear edge of the right side panel in thecargo compartment/trunk.

The controls consist of two buttons ‒ one but-
ton for lowering and one button for raising the rear end. Press and hold the relevant buttonuntil the desired height is reached. The rear end of the vehicle cannot be raised higher than its normal height. The rear end will return to the normal height when the vehicle begins driving.
NOTE
It is not possible to adjust the height of the vehicle's rear when one or more of thedoors or the hood is open. This does notapply to the tailgate.
WARNING
Make sure that no people, animals or objects are found under the vehicle when itis lowered. This could endanger life andcause damage to the vehicle or objects.

Climate control system service
Service and repairs on the air conditioning system should only be done by an authorizedworkshop.
Troubleshooting and repairsThe air conditioning system contains a fluores- cent tracer substance. Ultraviolet light is usedto search for leaks in the system. Volvo recommends contacting an authorized Volvo workshop.
Vehicles with R134a refrigerant
WARNING
The air conditioning system contains the refrigerant R134a under pressure. Serviceand repairs to the system should only bedone by an authorized workshop.

Replacing a windshield with head- up display

Vehicles with a head-up display have a spe- cial type of windshield that meets therequirements for displaying projected infor-mation.
Volvo recommends contacting an authorized Volvo workshop for assistance replacing thewindshield. The correct type of replacementwindshield must be used in order for the head-up display to function properly.

Opening and closing the hood
To open the hood, pull the lever in the pas- senger compartment and then turn the han-dle under the hood.
