uuWhen Driving uStarting the Engine
Driving
■To stop the engine
Press and hold the button for one second.
Red LED: Comes on for one second to let you
know that the engine has stopped.
Red LED: Blinks when the keyless remote is
out of the keyless system range.
The engine will not stop. u Go within the range, and try again.1Remote Engine Start*
While the engine is running, the vehicle will
automatically preconditi on inside the vehicle.
When it is warm outside:
•The climate control system is activated in
recirculation mode.
When it is cold outside:
•The defroster is activated at a moderately warm
temperature.
•The rear defogger, heated door mirrors, front seat
heaters, and heated steering wheel* are activated.

3. With the parking brake applied, release the brake pedal and gently depress the
accelerator pedal.

Engine Restart Function
If the engine stalls, full y depress the clutch pedal
within three seconds. The engine may automatically
restart under certain conditi ons. Otherwise, follow

The engine stops when th e transmission is taken out
of
( P before the ENGINE START/STOP button is
pressed. Follow step 1 when starting to drive.
You can also release the parking brake by pressing
the electric parking brake sw itch while depressing the
brake pedal.
When facing downhill, you can start your vehicle
more smoothly by manually releasing it with the
electric parking brake switch than by releasing it with
the accelerator pedal.

Each keyless remote has its own settings.
1. Press and hold the INDIVIDUAL button or select Customize to enter
INDIVIDUAL mode and open the INDIVIDUAL settings.

6. Place the end of the filler nozzle on the
lower part of filler opening, then insert it
slowly and fully.
u Make sure that the end of the filler
nozzle goes down along with the filler
pipe.
u Keep the filler nozzle level.
u When the tank is full, the filler nozzle will
click off automatically.
u If you do not fill up the tank to full,
always add a minimum of 1.2 US gal (5 L)
of fuel.
u After filling, wait about five seconds
before removing th e filler nozzle.
7. Shut the fuel fill door by hand.1How to Refuel
Use the lock tab or the ma ster door lock switch to
unlock the fuel fill door.
The vehicle doors and fuel fill door automatically
relock if the remote unlock function is used. This can
be deactivated by briefl y opening then closing the
driver’s door.
If the filler nozzle keeps tu rning off when the tank is
not full, there may be a pr oblem with the pump’s fuel
vapor recovery system. Try fi lling at another pump. If
this does not fix the problem, consult a dealer.
The filler nozzle automatically stops to leave space in
the fuel tank so that fuel do es not overflow as a result
of changes in air temperature.
Do not continue to add fuel after the filler nozzle has
automatically stopped. Addi tional fuel can exceed
the full tank capacity.
If you repeatedly fill the tank with less than the
specified minimum amount of fuel, the malfunction
indicator lamp may come on. If this happens, have
your vehicle checked by a dealer.
If you have to refuel y our vehicle from a portable
container, use the funnel pr ovided with your vehicle.

Remote Transmitter Care
Replacing the Remote Battery
If the indicator does not come on when the button is pressed, replace the battery.
1. Remove the built-in key.
2. Pry on the edge of the cover using a flat-tip
screwdriver to remove the cover.
u Wrap the flat-tip screwdriver with a cloth
to prevent scratches.
3. Make sure to replace the battery with the
correct polarity.

An improperly disposed of battery can damage the
environment. Always conf irm local regulations for
battery disposalM
Replacement batteries are commercially available or
at a dealer.
3WARNING
CHEMICAL BURN HAZARD
The battery that powers the remote
transmitter can cause severe internal burns
and can even lead to death if swallowed.
Keep new and used batteries away from
children.
If you suspect that a child has swallowed
the battery, seek medical attention
immediately.

button battery and an in tegral non-replaceable
rechargeable battery. To prevent permanent damage

If the engine does not start, check the starter.
If you cannot start the engine after checking all the items in the list above, have your vehicle checked by a dealer.
If you must start the vehicle immediately, use an assisting vehicle or booster battery to jump start it.

If the Keyless Remote Battery is Weak
If the beeper sounds, the To start, touch start butto n with emblem side of
remote message appears on the driver information interface, and the ENGINE
START/STOP button flashes, and the engine wo n’t start, start the engine as
follows: 1.Press the ENGINE START/STOP button.
u The beeper sounds and the ENGINE
START/STOP button flashes for about
30 seconds.
2. Touch the center of the ENGINE START/
STOP button with the A logo on the keyless
remote while the ENGINE START/STOP
button is flashing. The buttons on the
keyless remote should be facing you.
u The beeper sounds, and the ENGINE
START/STOP button stays on for about
10 seconds.
3. Depress the brake pedal (continuously
variable transmission) or clutch pedal
(manual transmission) and press the
ENGINE START/STOP button while the
ENGINE START/STOP button is on.
u The engine starts.
u If you don’t depress the pedal, the mode
will change to ACCESSORY.
