Driving
Low Speed Braking Control*
Using sonar sensors located on the front an d rear bumpers, this system detects if
there is danger of a potential collision with a wall or other obstacle during normal
driving or when the accelerator pedal is de pressed with too much force. The system
then assists in avoiding collisions and reducing damage from impact through
assistive braking and/or assistive driving power suppression.1 Low Speed Braking Control*
If trapped in a railway crossing, the system may
detect the crossing gate as an obstacle and activate.
If this happens, assistive braking will automatically
cancel after a certain amount of time after stopping,
so continue to move forw ard. If assistive driving
power suppression is activate d, continue to calmly
depress the accelerator or depress the accelerator
once again, then push aside the crossing gate.
3WARNING
It is not possible for the Low Speed Braking
Control system to avoid collisions or reduce
damage from collision s in all situations
where the accelerator has been depressed
accidentally or with too much force.
Over reliance on this system may result in a
collision and serious injury or death.
It is your responsibility to always check your
shift position, pedal location and
surroundings, and safely operate the
vehicle.

uuAcuraWatchTMuLane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Driving
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Provides steering input to help keep the vehicle in the middle of a detected lane and
provides tactile and visual alerts if the ve hicle is detected drifting out of its lane.1Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Important Safety Reminders
The LKAS is for your convenience only. It is not a
substitute for your vehicl e control. The system does
not work if you take y our hands off the steering
wheel or fail to steer the vehicle.
Do not place objects on the instrument panel.
Objects may reflect on th e windshield and prevent
correct detection of the traffic lanes.
The LKAS only alerts you when lane drift is detected
without a turn signal in use. The LKAS may not detect
all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will
vary based on weather, speed, and lane marker
condition. It is always your responsibility to safely
operate the vehicle an d avoid collisions.
The LKAS is convenient when it is used on freeways.
The LKAS may not work properly or may work
improperly under the certain conditions:
2 LKAS Conditions and Limitations P. 520
You can read about handling information for the
camera equipped with this system. 2 Front Sensor Camera P. 547
The LKAS may not function as designed while driving
in frequent stop and go traf fic, or on roads with
sharp curves.
When you operate the turn signals to chan ge lanes, the system is suspended, and
resumes after the signals are off.
If you make a lane change without operat ing the turn signals, the LKAS alerts
activate, and torque is applied to the steering.

Rapid vibrations on the steering
wheel and a warning display alert
you that the vehicle is drifting out
of a detected lane.
■Steering input assist
The system applies torque to the steering to keep the vehicle between the left and
right lane lines. The applied torque becomes stronger as the vehicle gets closer to
either of the lane lines.

uuAcuraWatchTMuTraffic Jam Assist
Driving
Traffic Jam Assist is activated when a ll of the following circumstances exist:
• LKAS is active.
• ACC with Low Speed Follow is active.
• The vehicle speed is between 0 and 45mph (0 and 72km/h) and there is a vehicle
detected traveling ahead.
• The lane in which you are driving has detectable lane markers on both sides, and
your vehicle is in the center of the lane.
• You are driving on a straight or slightly curved road.
• The driver is grippi ng the steering wheel.
Do not use Traffic Jam Assist in any of the following situations:
• You are traveling on a ro ad with sharp curves.
u The system may not allow your vehicle to respond in a manner best suited for
the road conditions.
• You are entering a toll booth, inte rchange, service area, or parking area.
u If the vehicle ahead disappears from the travel path of your vehicle, your
vehicle may suddenly accelerate to resume the set speed.
• You are driving in adverse weat her (rain, fog, snow, etc.).
u The system may not be able to correctly determine the interval between your
vehicle and the one ahead.
• The surface of the road is slippery, for example, it is icy or covered with snow.
u The tires may slip, causing you to lose control of the vehicle.
• You are driving in a HOV lane and motorcycles are passing you to the side, or you
are required to keep your vehicle to the right or the left of the lane.
u The system may not be able to co rrectly determine the vehicle ahead.

uuAcuraWatchTMuRoad Departure Mitigation System
Continued
Driving
Road Departure Mi tigation System
Alerts and helps to assist you when the system detects a possibility of your vehicle
unintentionally crossing over detected lane markings and/or leaving the roadway
altogether.
The front camera behind the rearview mirror
monitors left and right lane markings (in white
or yellow). If your vehicle is getting too close
to detected lane markings without a turn
signal activated, the system, in addition to a
visual alert, applies st eering torque and alerts
you with rapid vibrations on the steering
wheel, to help you remain within the detected
lane.
2 Customized Features P. 345
As a visual alert, appears on the gauge.
If the system determines that its steering input
is insufficient to keep your vehicle on the
roadway, it may apply braking.
u Braking is applied only when the lane
markings are solid continuous lines.
■How the System Works
1Road Departure Mitigation System
Important Safety Reminder
Like all assistance systems, the Road Departure
Mitigation system has limitations.
Over-reliance on the Road Departure Mitigation system
may result in a collision. It is always your responsibility to
keep the vehicle within your driving lane.
The Road Departure Mitigati on system only alerts you
when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use.
The Road Departure Mitigation system may not detect
all lane markings or lane or roadway departures;
accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and lane
marker condition. It is always your responsibility to
safely operate the vehicle and avoid collisions.
You can read about handling information for the
camera equipped with this system.
2 Front Sensor Camera P. 547
The Road Departure Mitigati on system may not work
properly or may work im properly under the certain
conditions:
2 Road Departure Mitigation Conditions and
Limitations P. 539
There are times when you may not notice Road
Departure Mitigation functions due to your operation
of the vehicle, or road surface conditions.
The Road Departure Mitiga tion is not activated for
about 15 seconds after the power system is turned on.

uuChecking and Maintaining Tires uDOT Tire Quality Grading (U.S. Vehicles)
Maintenance
The traction grades, from highest to lowest, are AA, A, B, and C.
Those grades represent the tire’s ability to stop on wet pavement
as measured under controlled conditions on specified
government test surfaces of asph alt and concrete. A tire marked
C may have poor traction performance.
The temperature grades are A (the highest), B, and C,
representing the tire’s resistance to the generation of heat and its
ability to dissipate heat when te sted under controlled conditions
on a specified indoor laboratory test wheel. Sustained high
temperature can cause the material of the tire to degenerate and
reduce tire life, and ex cessive temperature can lead to sudden tire
failure. The grade C corresponds to a level of performance which
all passenger car tires must meet under the Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standard No. 109. Grades B and A represent higher levels
of performance on the laboratory test wheel than the minimum
required by law.
■Traction
■Temperature
1 Traction
Warning: The traction grade
assigned to this tire is based on
straight-ahead braking traction tests,
and does not include acceleration,
cornering, hydroplaning, or peak
traction characteristics.
1Temperature
Warning: The temperature grade for
this tire is establishe d for a tire that is
properly inflated and not
overloaded. Excessive speed,
underinflation, or excessive loading,
either separately or in combination,
can cause heat buildup and possible
tire failure.
