In MP3/WMA mode
This
f eature plays the f iles within a f older
in random order, rather than in the
order they are compressed in MP3/
WMA. To activate folder random
play, press the AUDIO button to
view the audio control display, then
push down the selector on the
interface dial. Rotate the interface
dial to select the f older random.
Press ENTER on the selector to
enter your selection.
You will see ‘‘FOLDER RANDOM’’
on the audio control display. To turn
of f this f eature, select the f older
random then, press ENTER again.You can play a DVD-A disc in the CD
changer. The disc controls are same
as previously described.
To pause a disc, press the preset
button which corresponds to the
current disc. To play the disc again,
press the preset button again.
You can also pause a disc on the
audio control display. Press the
AUDIO button to view the display,
select the corresponding number of
the current disc on the preset icons
by turning the interface knob, then
press ENTER on the interf ace
selector. To play the disc again,
select the preset icon, then press
ENTER again.

If you turn the system of f while a
disc is playing, either with the PWR/
VOL knob or by turning of f the
ignition switch, the disc will stay in
the drive. When you turn the system
back on, the disc will begin playing
where it lef t of f .
To take the system out of disc mode,
press the AM/FM, or DISC/AUX, orbutton to switch to the radio,
or satellite radio, or auxiliary input
while a disc is playing. When you
return to disc mode by pressing the
DISC/AUX button, play will continue
at the same point that it left off. To remove the disc that is currently
playing, press and release the eject
( ) button. You will see
‘‘EJECT’’ on the upper display. When
you remove the disc f rom the slot,
the system begins the load sequence
so you can load another disc in that
position. If you do not load another
disc within 10 seconds, the system
selects the previous mode (AM, FM1,
FM2, or XM).
If you do not remove the disc f rom
the slot, the system will reload the
disc af ter 10 seconds and put the CD
changer in pause mode. To begin
playing the disc, press the DISC/
AUX button.
To remove a different disc from the
changer,firstselectitbypressing
the corresponding number on the
preset button or turning the
interf ace knob, and pressing ENTERon the interf ace selector. When that
disc begins playing, press the eject
button.
Press and hold the eject button until
you hear a beep to remove all the
discs from the changer.
You can also eject discs when the
ignition switch is of f by pressing the
eject button. The disc that was last
selected is ejected f irst. You can
eject the rest of the discs one at a
time.

Radio signals, especially on the FM
band, are def lected by large objects
such as buildings and hills. Your
radio then receives both the direct
signal f rom the station’s transmitter,
and the def lected signal. This causes
the sound to distort or flutter. This is
a main cause of poor radio reception
in city driving.Radio reception can be af f ected by
atmospheric conditions such as
thunderstorms, high humidity, and
even sunspots. You may be able to
receive a distant radio station one
day and not receive it the next day
because of a change in conditions.
Electrical interf erence f rom passing
vehicles and stationary sources
(such as garages or parking
structures) can cause temporary
reception problems.

Depending on where you drive, you
may experience reception problems.
Interf erence can be caused by any of
these conditions:Driving on the north side of an
east/west mountain road.
Driving on the north side of a
large commercial truck on an
east/west road.
Driving in tunnels.
Driving on a road beside a vertical
wall, steep clif f , or hill to the south
of you.
Driving on the lower level of a
multi-tiered road.
Driving on a single lane road
alongside dense trees taller than
50 ft. (15 m) to the south of you. If your XM Radio service has expired
or you purchased your vehicle f rom
a previous owner, you can listen to a
sampling of the broadcasts available
on XM Satellite Radio. With the
ignition switch in the ACCESSORY
(I) or the ON (II) position, push the
PWR/VOL knob to turn on the audio
system, and press the CD/XM
button. A variety of music types and
styles will play.
There may also be other geographic
situations or structures that could
af f ect satellite radio reception. After you’ve registered with XM
Satellite Radio, keep your audio
system in the satellite radio mode
while you wait for activation. This
should take about 30 minutes.
While waiting f or activation, make
sure your vehicle remains in an open
area with good reception. Once your
audio system is activated, ‘‘category’’
or ‘‘CH’’ will appear in the display,
andyou’llbeabletolistentoXM
Radio broadcasts. XM Satellite Radio
will continue to send an activation
signal to your vehicle f or at least 12
hours from the activation request. If
the service has not been activated
af ter 36 hours, contact XM Satellite
Radio.
If you decide to purchase XM
Satellite Radio service, contact XM
Radio at , or at
1-800-852-9696. In Canada, contact
XM Canada at , or at
1-877-438-9677. You will need to give
them your radio I.D. number and your credit card number. To get your
radio I.D. number, turn the TUNE
knob until ‘‘0’’ appears in the display.

You can cancel cruise control in any
of these ways:Tap the brake pedal.
Push the CANCEL button on the
steering wheel.
Push the CRUISE button on the
steering wheel. The cruise control will be canceled
when the vehicle speed reaches
about 25 mph (40 km/h) or less.
Tapping either of the paddle shif ters
shifts the gear up or down, but the
cruise control will be canceled if you
downshif t to f irst gear.

When you push the CANCEL button
or tap the brake pedal, the system
remembers the previously set speed.
To return to that speed, accelerate to
above25mph(40km/h),thenpress
and release the RES/ACCEL button.
The CRUISE CONTROL indicator
comes on. The vehicle accelerates to
thesamespeedasbefore.
Pressing the CRUISE button turns
the system completely of f and erases
the previous cruising speed.

When you select the Diagnostic Inf o
option, if the HFL is connected to a
cellular data service, AcuraLink
gathers more inf ormation about the
problem, and sends it to Acura.
There, the inf ormation is analyzed
and returned to the vehicle with the
most accurate repair inf ormation.When you make an appointment
through the Owner’s Link Online
Scheduling Service, you can be
reminded about that appointment
through the AcuraLink system in
advance. If you need to reschedule,
you can call your dealer directly with
the HFL.

Talk and Back buttons on the left
side of the steering wheel. The next
f ew pages provide instructions f or all
basic f eatures of the HFL. Many commands can be spokentogether. For example, you can
say, ‘‘Dial 123-456-7891.’’
To enter a string of numbers in a
Call or Dial command, you can say
them all at once, or you can
separate them in blocks of 3, 4, 7,
10, or 11.
To skip a voice prompt, press the
Talk button while the HFL is
speaking. The HFL will then begin
listening f or your next command.
Here are some guidelines f or using
voice control:
To enter a command, press the
Talk button. Then, af ter the beep,
say your command in a clear,
natural tone.
For best system operation, set the
climate control f an speed to low,
and direct the center vents away
f rom the microphone in the ceiling.
If the HFL does not recognize a
command, its response is, ‘‘Pardon.’’
If it doesn’t recognize the
command a second time, its
response is, ‘‘Please repeat.’’ If it
doesn’t recognize the command a
third time, it plays the Help
prompt. To hear a list of available options
at any time, press the Talk button,
wait f or the beep, and say, ‘‘Hands
f ree link help.’’

To go back one step in a command
process, say, ‘‘Go back,’’ or press
the Back button.When you f inish a command
sequence, the HFL goes back to
its main menu. For example, when
you store the name, ‘‘Eric,’’ the
HFL response is, ‘‘Eric has been
stored.’’ The next time you press
the Talk button, you will be at the
main menu.
If nothing is said while the HFL is
listening f or a command, the HFL
will time out and stop its voice
recognition. The next time you
press the Talk button, the HFL
begins listening f rom the point at
which it timed out.
To end a command sequence at
any time, press and hold the Back
button, or press and release the
Talk button, wait f or the beep, and
say, ‘‘Cancel.’’ The next time you
press the Talk button, the HFL
begins f rom its main menu. Thevoiceof theHFLcanbesetto
male or f emale (U.S. models only).
Also, the incoming notif ication can
be set to a ring tone, a prompt, or no
notification.
Press and release the Talk button.
Af ter the beep, say ‘‘System.’’ The
HFL response is, ‘‘System options
are setup and clear.’’ Press and release the Talk button.
Af ter the beep, say ‘‘Setup.’’ The
HFL response is ‘‘Would you like

‘‘Female,’’ depending on the
system voice you want. The HFL

The HFL will accept a numeric, f our-
digit passcode that you can use f or
security purposes.Press and release the Talk button.
Af ter the beep, say the f our-digit
passcode you want to use. For
example,say‘‘1,2,3,4.’’TheHFL
responseis‘‘1,2,3,4.Isthis
correct?’’
Press and release the Talk button.
If you say ‘‘Yes’’ af ter the beep, the
HFL system response is, ‘‘Would
you like the notification to be a
ring tone or a prompt?’’ If you say
‘‘No’’ af ter the beep, the HFL
system returns to its main menu.
Saying ‘‘No’’ will result in no ring
tone or prompt playback during an
incoming call. The audio system
will be mute, and a message will
be displayed.
The HFL response continues ‘‘A
security option is available to lock
the HFL system. Each time the
vehicle is turned on, a passcode
would be required to use this
system. Would you like this
security option turned on?’’ If you
say ‘‘Yes,’’ you can set your
passcode. Ref er to the setting
procedure in the next column.
Follow the system setup
procedure as described previously.
Press and release the Talk button.
Af ter the beep, say ‘‘Yes.’’
The HFL response is ‘‘What is the
f our-digit number you would like
to set as your passcode?’’
Press and release the Talk button.
Af ter the beep, say ‘‘Ring tone’’ or
‘‘Prompt.’’ The HFL response is ‘‘A
ring tone will be used’’ or ‘‘An
incoming call prompt will be used.’’
If you choose ‘‘Ring tone,’’ you will
hear a ring tone through the audio
speakers to announce an incoming
call. If you choose ‘‘Prompt,’’ you
will hear this message to
announce an incoming call: ‘‘You
have an incoming call.’’
