To open the tailgate, press and hold
the switch, then lift up.To close the tailgate, hold the
tailgate handle, lower the tailgate,
then press down on the back edge.
Keep the tailgate closed at all times
while driving to avoid damaging the
tailgate and to prevent exhaust gas
f rom getting into the interior. See

.
The tailgate will lock when you lock
the driver’s door, and will unlock
when you unlock all doors.
You can change the ‘‘DOOR LOCK
MODE’’ setting on the multi-
inf ormation display (see page ).

If the power door lock system cannot
unlock the tailgate, unlock it
manually.
Use a small flat-tip screwdriver to
remove the cover on the back of the
tailgate.Pushandholdthereleaseleverto
the right as shown, then push the
tailgate to open it.If you need to unlock the tailgate
manually, it means there is a
problem with the tailgate. Have the
vehicle checked by your dealer.

When you press the UNLOCK
button, the ceiling lights (if the f ront
and rear ceiling light switches are in
the door activated position) will
come on. If you do not open any door,
the lights stay on for about 30
seconds, then f ade out. If you relock
the doors with the remote
transmitter before 30 seconds have
elapsed, the lights go of f
immediately.
Press this button once to
lock all doors and the tailgate. Some
exterior lights will f lash. When you
push LOCK twice within 5 seconds,
you will hear a beep to verify that the
doors and tailgate are locked and the
security system has set. This button
does not work if any door or tailgate
is not f ully closed.
To change the ‘‘KEYLESS LOCK
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT’’ setting,
see page . Press this button once
to unlock the driver’s door. Push it
twice to unlock the other doors.
Some exterior lights will f lash twice
when you push the button. If you do
not open any door or the tailgate
within 30 seconds, they will
automatically relock.

To replace the battery:Remove the screw at the base of
the transmitter with a small
Phillips-head screwdriver.
Separate the keypad from the
transmitter by pushing any button
f rom outside.
If it takes several pushes on the
button to lock or unlock the doors
and the tailgate, replace the battery
as soon as possible.
Battery type: CR1616
Avoid dropping or throwing the
transmitter.
Protect the transmitter from
extreme temperature.
Do not immerse the transmitter in
any liquid.
If you lose a transmitter, the
replacement needs to be
reprogrammed by your dealer.

Here are the settings activated with
the remote;
When you unlock the driver’s door
with your remote, each remote
activates the keyless memory
settings related to that remote. The
driver’s ID (MEMORY 1 or
MEMORY 2) is shown on the back
of each remote. To turn of f this f eature, press and
hold the LOCK and UNLOCK
buttonsatthesametime.TheLED
in the remote will blink twice. Then
release the buttons. Doing this
cancels the keyless memory settings
f or that remote.
Driving position memory
(see page ).
To turn the keyless memory settings
back on, repeat this procedure. The
LED will blink once to indicate the
f eature has been turned on.
When you unlock and open the
driver’s door with the remote
transmitter, the driver’s seat (except
the power lumbar feature) and
outside mirrors start to move to the
positions stored in memory. The
indicator in the related memory
button to the remote comes on. 145

Do not put any heavy items on the
seat-back when it is folded down.
Make sure all items in the cargo area
are secured. Loose items can f ly
f orward and cause injury if you have
to brake hard (See
on page ).
Make sure that the f olded down rear
seat does not interf ere with the f ront
passenger’s seat-back. This will
cause the f ront passenger’s weight
sensors and the f ront passenger’s
seat belt reminder indicator to work
improperly (see pages and ).
Also check the passenger airbag of f
indicator to assure proper operation
of the passenger’s front airbag.After returning the seat-back to the
upright position, tug on the seat-back
to make sure it is latched. If the seat-
back is not latched f ully, the seat belt
will not work properly and you will
seetheredindicatorbehindthe
release lever as shown.To return the seat cushion to its
original position, lif t up the seat
cushion, then place the rear of the
seat cushion at the base of the seat-
back. Use the seat buckles as guides.
Lower the f ront of the seat cushion
until it locks into place.
Make sure the seat-back and seat
cushion are locked securely and all
rear shoulder belts are positioned in
front of the rear seat-backs.

Turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position.
Move the selector switch to L
(driver’s side) or R (passenger’s
side).
Keeptheinsideandoutsidemirrors
clean and adjusted f or best visibility.
Be sure to adjust the mirrors bef ore
you start driving. The inside mirror can automatically
darken to reduce glare. To turn on
this feature, press the button on the
bottom of the mirror. The AUTO
indicator comes on as a reminder.
When it is on, the mirror darkens
when it senses the headlights of a
vehicle behind you, then returns to
normal visibility when the lights are
gone. Press the button again to turn
of f this f eature.

Open any door.
Remove the key from the ignition
switch.
Unlock the doors with the key,
locktabonthedriver’sdoor,
master door lock switch, or
remote transmitter.
After all doors are closed tightly, the
light(s) dims slightly, then f ades out
in about 30 seconds. If you do not open any door af ter
unlocking the driver’s door or
removing the key from the ignition
switch, the light(s) f ade out in about
30 seconds. If you leave any door
open without the key in the ignition
switch, the light(s) will go of f af ter 3
minutes.
You can use the f ront ceiling lights
whenever the lights are of f .
To turn a light on or of f , push its lens.

The courtesy lights in the ceiling
console come on when the light
switch is in the or theposition. You can adjust their
brightness by turning the select/
reset knob on the instrument panel. The cargo area light has a two
position switch. In the OFF (right)
position, the light does not come on.
In the ON (lef t) position, the light
comesonwhenyouopenthetailgate.
Your vehicle also has a courtesy light
in the ignition switch. This light
comesonwhenyou;
Unlock the driver’s door.
Remove the key from the ignition
switch.
Open any door.
The courtesy light in each f ront door
comes on when the door is opened,
and goes out when the door is closed.

Open the glove box by pulling the
handle to the lef t. Close it with a f irm
push. Lock or unlock the glove box
with the master key.The glove box light comes on when
the parking lights are on.
The interior of each f ront door has
an extendable pocket f or maps and
other small, lightweight items. For
saf ety, be sure both f ront door
pockets are closed while driving.
