The ignition switch has f our
positions: LOCK (0), ACCESSORY
(I), ON (II), and START (III).
You can insert or
remove the key only in this position.
To turn the key, you must push the
key in slightly. If your vehicle has an
automatic transmission, the shif t
lever must also be in Park. If the f ront wheels are turned, the
anti-theft lock may make it difficult
to turn the key. Firmly turn the
steering wheel to the lef t or right as
you turn the key.
You can
operate the audio system and the
accessory power sockets in this
position.
This is the normal key
position when driving. Several of the
indicators on the instrument panel
come on as a test when you turn the
ignition switch f rom the
ACCESSORY (I) to the ON (II)
position. You will hear a reminder beeper if
you leave the key in the ignition
switch in the LOCK (0) or the
ACCESSORY (I) position and open
the driver’s door. Remove the key to
turn of f the beeper.
If your vehicle has an automatic
transmission, the shif t lever must be
in Park bef ore you can remove the
key f rom the ignition switch.
Use this position
only to start the engine. The switch
returns to the ON (II) position when
you let go of the key.

If you unlock the doors with the
remote transmitter, but do not open
anydoorswithin30seconds,the
doors automatically relock and the
security system sets. To change this
setting, ref er to Keyless Memory
Settings on page . Press this button once
to unlock the driver’s door or all the
doors (depending on the keyless
memory setting). Press it twice to
unlock the other doors. Some
exterior lights will f lash twice each
time you press the button.
The ceiling light (if the ceiling light
switch is in the center position) will
come on when you press the
UNLOCK button. If you do not open
anydoorswithin30seconds(or
whatever setting the relock timer is
set to), the light f ades out. If you
relock the doors with the remote
transmitter before 30 seconds have
elapsed, the light will go of f
immediately.
Press this button once to
lock all doors. Some exterior lights
will f lash. When you push LOCK
twice within 5 seconds (depending
on the keyless memory setting), you
will hear a beep to verify that the
doors are locked and the security
system has set. You cannot lock the
doors if any door is not f ully closed
or if the key is in the ignition switch. Pressthisbuttonfor
about 1 second to open the trunk.
Pressthisbuttonfor
about 2 seconds to attract attention:
the horn will sound, and the exterior
lights will f lash f or about 30 seconds.
To cancel panic mode, press any
other button on the remote
transmitter, or turn the ignition
switch to the ON (II) position.

those extending through the pass-
through are secured.
For security, this cover can be
locked and unlocked only with the
master key. To lock the cover, insert
thekey,andturnitclockwise.
Never drive with this cover open and
the trunk lid open.

Be sure to adjust the mirrors bef ore
you start driving.Theinsidemirrorcanautomatically
darken to reduce glare. To turn on
this feature, press the button on the
bottom of the mirror. The AUTO
indicator comes on as a reminder.
When it is on, the mirror darkens
when it senses the headlights of a
vehicle behind you, then returns to
normal visibility when the lights are
gone. Press the button again to turn
of f this f eature.

The outside mirrors are heated to
remove fog and frost. With the
ignition switch in the ON (II)
position, turn on the heaters by
pressing the button. The indicator in
the button comes on as a reminder.
Press the button again to turn the
heaters off.
With the ignition switch in the ON
(II) position, move the selector
switch to the L (driver’s side), or R
(passenger’s side).
Push the edge of the adjustment
switch to move the mirror right,
lef t, up, or down.
When f inished, move the selector
switch back to the center (off)
position. Both outside door mirrors have a
reverse tilt f eature. When in
reverse, the selected mirror will
tilt down slightly to improve your
view as you parallel park. Shifting
out of reverse will return the
mirrors to their original position.
To tilt the driver’s mirror, place
the selector switch in the left
position.
To tilt the passenger’s mirror,
place the switch in the right
position.
To turn the feature off, place the
switch in the center position.
Outside mirror positions can be
stored in the driving position
memory system (see page ).

If the moonroof runs into any
obstacle while it is closing
automatically, it will reverse
direction, and then stop. To close the
moonroof , remove the obstacle, then
use the moonroof switch again.
Auto reverse stops sensing when the
moonroof is almost closed. You
should always check that all
passengers and objects are away
f rom the moonroof bef ore closing it.
Make sure everyone’s hands are
away f rom the moonroof bef ore
opening or closing it.
To open or close the moonroof
partially, pull back or push f orward
the moonroof switch lightly and hold
it. The moonroof will stop when you
release the switch.
To tilt the moonroof , press straight
up on the center of the switch. To
stop the moonroof f rom tilting f ully
open, press the switch a second time.
To slide the moonroof open, pull
back the moonroof switch f irmly.
The moonroof automatically opens
all the way. To stop the moonroof
f rom opening f ully, push the switch
f orward brief ly. To close the moonroof f ully, push
the switch firmly forward. The
moonroof automatically closes all the
way. To stop the moonroof f rom
closing f ully, pull back the switch
brief ly.

To apply the parking brake, pull the
lever up f ully. To release it, pull up
slightly, push the button, and lower
the lever. The parking brake
indicator on the instrument panel
should go out when the parking
brake is f ully released (see page ).

Driving the vehicle with the parking
brake applied can damage the rear
brakes and axles. A beeper will sound
if the vehicle is driven with the parking
brake on.

The f ront ceiling light has a three-
position switch; ON, Door Activated,
and OFF.When neither side is pushed in
(Door Activated), the lights come on
when you:
Open any door.
Unlock the doors with the key or
remote transmitter.
After all doors are closed tightly,
both f ront and rear ceiling lights
f ade out in 5, 15, or 30 seconds
depending on your customized
setting (see page ). Both f ront and rear ceiling lights
work as individual map lights. To
turn a map light on or of f , press its
lens. You can use the f ront map
lights regardless of the position of
the f ront ceiling light switch.
With the f ront ceiling light switch in
the OFF position, the rear map lights
do not work, and the interior lights
do not come on when you open a
door.

To open the console compartment
storage area, pull up on the lef t lever,
and lif t the armrest. To close, lower
the armrest, and push it down until it
latches.
Open the glove box by squeezing the
handle. Close it with a f irm push.
Lock or unlock the glove box with
the master key.
Each socket is intended to supply
power f or 12 volt DC accessories
that are rated 120 watts or less (10
amps).
None of the sockets will power an
automotive type cigarette lighter
element.

To use the sun visor, pull it down.
Whenusingthesunvisorforthe
side window, remove the support rod
f rom the clip, and swing it out. In this
position, the sun visor can be
adjusted by moving it on its slider.
Make sure you put the sun visor
back in place when you are getting
into or out of the vehicle.
Each sun visor has a vanity mirror on
the back of it. To use a vanity mirror,
pull up the cover. The light come on
when you open the cover.
The interior of each f ront door has
an extendable pocket f or maps and
other small, lightweight items. Each
pocket also has a sunglasses holder.
You can remove the sunglasses
holder to make more room in the
pocket.

Adjusts the volume level
basedonthevehiclespeed. This f unction is set to MID as the
def ault setting when the vehicle
leaves the factory.You can use the instrument panel
brightness control buttons to adjust
the illumination of the audio system
(see page ). The audio system
illuminates when the parking lights
are on, even if the radio is of f .
The SVC mode controls the volume
based on vehicle speed. The f aster
you go, the louder the audio volume
becomes. As you slow down, the
audio volume decreases.
The SVC has f our modes; SVC OFF,
SVC LOW, SVC MID, and SVC
HIGH. Turn the TUNE knob to
adjust the setting to your liking. If
you f eel the sound is too loud,
choose low. If you f eel the sound is
too quiet, choose high. Dolby
PL (Prologic) II signal processing
creates multi-channel surround
sound f rom the audio signal
recorded with two channel stereo
sources. Dolby prologic II can only
activate when using the CD (CD-DA,
MP3/WMA),XMradio,andAUX
audio modes. When it activates,
‘‘DPL II’’ is shown on the upper
display.
