In addition to the Seat Belt Reminder
in the instrument panel, the multi-
inf ormation display interrupts the
current display and shows ‘‘FASTEN
SEAT BELT’’ or ‘‘PASSENGER
FASTEN SEAT BELT’’ if either the
driver or a f ront passenger does not
f asten their seat belt while driving.
This message remains displayed if
you or your passenger ignores it and
does not wear your seat belt while
the vehicle is moving.If the trunk or any door is not closed
tightly, the display reminds you to
close the open trunk or the door(s)
bef ore you start driving.
If you start driving without releasing
the parking brake, the multi-
inf ormation display interrupts the
current display and shows
‘‘RELEASE PARKING BRAKE.’’
This message continues, and a
chime sounds, until you release the
parking brake, or the vehicle speed
slows down to less than 1.8 mph (3
km/h).

If the f luid level in the windshield
washer reservoir gets low, you will
see ‘‘WASHER FLUID LOW’’ in the
multi-inf ormation display.
The TIGHTEN FUEL CAP message
should go of f af ter tightening the
f uel cap, turning the ignition switch
of f and on, then driving over 30 mph
(48 km/h) f or at least 45 seconds.
Due to dif f erent driving conditions, it
may take a few driving trips to make
the message go of f .
If a loose or missing f uel cap was not
the cause of the ‘‘TIGHTEN FUEL
CAP’’ message coming on, the
message will turn of f and the
Malf unction Indicator Lamp will
come on. If this happens, have your
vehicle checked by your dealer as
soon as possible.
If the level of the fuel in the tank
gets low, you will see ‘‘FUEL LOW’’
in the multi-information display, and
you must ref uel soon. The low f uel
indicator in the instrument panel will
also come on.

If the passenger’s side airbag has
automatically shut of f , you will see
‘‘PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OFF’’
in the multi-inf ormation display. See
page f or more inf ormation.If there is a problem with the vehicle
stability assist (VSA) system, you
will see ‘‘CHECK VSA SYSTEM’’ in
the multi-information display. If you
see this message, have the VSA
system checked by your dealer (see
page ).If the engine oil is very low or has
lost pressure, you will see ‘‘CHECK
ENGINE OIL LEVEL’’ in the multi-
inf ormation display. You will also see
the low oil pressure indicator in the
instrument panel f lashing or staying
on. If you see this message, you
should take immediate action since
serious engine damage is possible.

set the cruise control. The Cruise
Control indicator in the instrument
panel will also come on. See pagef or inf ormation on the cruise
control operation. You can receive or make phone-calls
f rom your cell phone through your
vehicle’s HandsFreeLink (HFL)
system without touching your cell
phone.
To use the system, your cell phone
and the HFL system must be linked.
Not all cell phones are compatible

To change the settings, stop the
vehicle, and make sure to set the
parking brake and put the
transmission in Park (A/T) or
neutral (M/T). If you try to enter the
customizing mode while the vehicle
is moving, the above message
appears and you cannot change the
settings.The f irst customizing menu is:

‘‘CHANGE SETTING,’’ ‘‘DEFAULT

lef t lever to signal a lef t turn and up
to signal a right turn. To signal a lane
change, push lightly on the lever in
the proper direction and hold it. The
lever will return to center when you
release it or complete a turn.

Lights On indicator comes on as a
reminder. This indicator stays on if
you leave the light switch on and

ACCESSORY (I) or LOCK (0)
position.
If you leave the lights on with the
key removed f rom the ignition
switch, you will hear a reminder
beeper when you open the driver’s
door.

The knob on the instrument panel
controls the brightness of the instru-
ment panel lights. Turn the knob to
adjust the brightness.
The headlights revert to normal
operation when you turn them on
with the switch.
The level of brightness is shown in
the multi-information display while
you adjust it. It goes out 5 seconds
af ter you f inish adjusting.
When the multi-information display
shows a ‘‘DRL OFF’’ message, the
daytime running lights are of f .
Follow the procedure in the previous
page to turn them on.
To reduce glare at night, the instru-
ment panel illumination dims when
you turn the light switch to or. Turning the Select/Reset
knob f ully to the right until you hear
a click will cancel the reduced bright-
ness.
If you see a ‘‘CHECK DRL
SYSTEM’’ message in the multi-
inf ormation display, there is a
problem in the high beam headlight’s
circuit. Take your vehicle to a dealer
to have it checked.

Make sure the rear window is clear
and you have good visibility bef ore
starting to drive.
The def ogger and antenna wires on
the inside of the rear window can be
accidentally damaged. When
cleaning the glass, always wipe side
to side.
The rear window def ogger will clear
fog, frost, and thin ice from the
window. Push the def ogger button to
turn it on and of f . The indicator
above the button comes on to show
the def ogger is on. If you do not turn
it of f , the def ogger will shut itself of f
af ter about 35 minutes. It also shuts
of f when you turn of f the ignition
switch. You have to turn the
def ogger on again when you restart
the vehicle.
Push the button between the center
vents to turn on the hazard warning
lights (f our-way f lashers). This
causes all f our outside turn signal
lights and both turn signal indicators
in the instrument panel to flash. Use
the hazard warning lights if you need
to park in a dangerous area near
heavy traffic, or if your vehicle is
