There may be other geographic
situations that could affect XM
Satellite Radio reception.After you’ve registered with XM
Radio, keep your audio system in the
XM Satellite Radio mode while you
wait f or activation. This should take
about 30 minutes.
While waiting for activation, make
sure your vehicle remains in an open
area with good reception. Once your
audio system is activated,
‘‘CATEGORY’’ or ‘‘CHANNEL’’ will
appear in the display, and you’ll be
able to listen to XM Satellite Radio
broadcasts. XM Radio will continue
to send an activation signal to your
vehicle for at least 12 hours from the
activation request. If the service has
not been activated after 36 hours,
contact XM Radio.
If your XM Satellite Radio service
has expired or you purchased your
vehicle f rom a previous owner, you
can listen to a sampling of the
broadcasts available on XM Satellite
Radio. With the ignition switch in the
ACCESSORY (I) or the ON (II)
position, press the button. A
variety of music types and styles will
play.
If you decide to purchase XM
Satellite Radio service, contact XM
Radio at , or at
1-800-852-9696. In Canada, contact
, or call 1-877-438-
9677. You will need to give them
your radio I.D. number and your
credit card number. To get your
radio I.D. number, press the button, then turn the
selector knob until ‘‘CH 000’’ appears
in the display. Your I.D. will appear
in the display.

characters of selected text data (the
f older name, f ile name, etc.).
If any letter is not available, it is
replaced with ‘‘ . ’’ (dot) in the display.
When the disc has no text data, you
will see ‘‘NO INFO’’ on the display.You will also see some text data
under these conditions:
When a new f older, f ile, or track is
selected.
When you change the audio mode
to play a disc with text data or in
MP3 or WMA.
When you insert a disc, and the
system begins to play.
When playing a CD-DA with text
data, the album and track name are
showninthedisplay.Withadiscin
MP3 or WMA, the display shows the
f older and f ile name.
When you turn on the audio system
next time, the system keeps your
selection with the TITLE button. Use the SKIP bar while a disc is
playing to select passages and
change tracks (f iles in MP3 or WMA
mode).
In MP3 or WMA mode, use the
FOLDER bar (CATEGORY bar on
models with XM satellite radio) to
select f olders in the disc and use
either side of the skip bar to change
f iles.
If the text data has more than 16
characters, you will see the first 15
characters and the indicator on
the display. Press and hold the
TITLE button until the next 16
characters are shown. You can see
up to about 31 characters of the text
data.

In MP3 or WMA mode, you can also
select a f older or track/f ile f rom the
list by using the selector knob. Push
the selector knob (ENTER) to
switch the display to the list
displayed with three segments, then
turn the knob to select a f older.
Press the selector knob (ENTER) to
change the display to the track/file
list, then turn the same knob to
select a track/f ile. Press the selector
knob (ENTER) to set your selection. Each time you press and
releasethe sideof theSKIPbar,
the player skips forward to the
beginning of the next track (f ile in
MP3 or WMA mode). Press and

skip backward to the beginning of

To move rapidly within a track or f ile,

This
f eature, when activated, plays the
f iles within a current f older in
random order, rather than in the
order they are compressed in MP3
or WMA. To activate folder random
play, select the f older random mode
from the menu items. You will see
F-RANDOM in the display. The
system will then select and play f iles
randomly. This continues until you
deactivate f older random play by
selecting the normal play mode, or
you select a dif f erent f older with the
FOLDER bar (CATEGORY bar on
models with XM Satellite radio).
To
continuously replay a track (f ile in
MP3 or WMA mode), select the
track repeat mode f rom the menu
items. You will see REPEAT in the
display. Select the normal play mode
to turn it off.
Pressing either side of the SKIP bar
also turns of f the repeat f eature.
This feature,
when activated, replays all the f iles
on the selected f older in the order
they are compressed in MP3 or
WMA. To activate folder repeat
mode, select the f older repeat mode
from the menu items. You will see
F-REPEAT in the display. The
system continuously replays the
current f older. Select the normal
play mode to turn it of f . Selecting a
different folder with the FOLDER
bar (CATEGORY bar on models
with XM Satellite Radio) also turns
of f the repeat f eature. This f eature plays the
tracks within a disc (the files in MP3
or WMA mode) in random order. To
activate random play, select the disc
random play f rom the menu items.
You will see RANDOM in the display.

To adjust them, press the AUDIO
button, push the interf ace selector
down, and turn the interf ace knob to
SOUND. Then press ENTER on the
selector.

BASS, TREBLE, FADER, and
BALANCE are each adjustable. You
can also adjust the strength of the
sound coming f rom the center and
subwoof er speakers. In addition, you
can set the Dolby PL (ProLogic) II
and Speed-sensitive volume
compensation (SVC).

creates multi-channel surround
sound f rom 2 channel stereo audio
sources. Dolby ProLogic II can only
activate when listening to DISC (CD-
DA, MP3/WMA), XM radio, and
AUX. When ProLogic II is active,
‘‘PL II’’ is shown in the audio display. To set this f eature on or of f , select
Dolby PL II, and press ENTER on
the interf ace selector. Rotate the
interf ace dial to ON or OFF, and
press ENTER.

based on vehicle speed. The f aster
you go, the louder the audio volume

HIGH. The def ault setting is MID.
To change the SVC mode, select
SVC, then press ENTER on the
interf ace selector. The current
settingisshownonthescreen.Turn
the interface knob to the desired
level, and enter your selection by
pressing ENTER on the interf ace
selector. If you f eel the sound is too
loud, choose low. If you f eel the
sound is too quiet, choose high.

is a

XM Satellite Radio receives signals
f rom two satellites to produce clear,
high-quality digital reception. It
of f ers many channels in several
categories. Along with a large
selection of dif f erent types of music,
XM Satellite Radio also allows you to
view channel and category selections
in the audio display. Push the AUDIO button to display
XM inf ormation on the screen. You
can operate the XM Satellite Radio
system with the interf ace dial.
To listen to XM satellite radio, turn
the ignition switch to the
ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II) position,
and press the button. The
last channel you listened to will show
in the audio screen and the center
display. Adjust the volume by
turning the VOL/ knob.

To switch between the
category mode and channel mode,
press and hold the TITLE button
until the mode changes. The
CATEGORY or CHANNEL mode is
displayed on the screen. To switch
the mode with the interf ace dial,
push down the interf ace selector to
select AUDIO MENU, then turn the
knob to select MODE, and press
ENTER on the selector repeatedly.
In the category mode, such as Jazz,
Rock, Classical, etc., you can
navigate through all of the channels
within that category. In the channel
mode, you can select all of the
available channels.
Each time you press and release the
TITLE button, the center display
changes in the f ollowing sequence:
NAME (artist name), TITLE (music
title), and CHANNEL NAME
(channel name). Onthescreen,youwillseethe
selected CHANNEL (number),
CATEGORY, NAME (artist name),
and TITLE (music title).
Press either side of the
TUNE bar to change channel
selections. Press the side of the
bar f or higher numbered channels
and the side for lower
numbered channels. You can also
change channels with the interf ace
selector, push down the interf ace
selector to select AUDIO MENU,
then turn the interface knob to
choose TUNE and press ENTER on
the selector. Turn the interface knob
to the appropriate direction. In the
category mode, you can only select
channels within that category. Push down the
interf ace selector to select AUDIO
MENU,thenturntheinterfaceknob
to select CHANNEL LIST and press
ENTERontheselector.Turnthe
interf ace knob to select a channel,
then press ENTER to set your
selection.
